Different scholars have defined performance in various ways. Armstrong1 defines performance as being the accomplishment, execution, carrying out, working out of anything ordered or undertaken leading to outputs/ outcomes (accomplishment) or achieving of results. Bautista et al.,2 indicate that performance is the achievement of specific tasks measured against predetermined or identified standards of accuracy, completeness, cost and speed. Hafeez & Akbar3 define performance as referring to the achievement of specified tasks measured against predetermined or identified standards of accuracy, completeness, cost and speed. Performance has been conceptualised as multi–dimensional construct involving job–specific task proficiency, non–job–specific proficiency (such as organisational citizenship behaviour), written and oral communication proficiency, demonstration of effort, maintenance of personal discipline, facilitation of peer and team performance, supervision/ leadership and management/ administration aspects.1 Overall, the definition and conceptualisation of performance point to the effect that performance is the effective accomplishment of tasks. Effective performance in organisations leads to accomplishing of organisational goals and objectives,4 quality of output, workmanship, adherence to standards, achievement of performance standards, increased effectiveness and a better use of available resources.5 Therefore, performance is important as far as organisational success is concerned.

In Mexico there is a notable increase in the elderly population, the elderly is that person who is 60 years old and older. In Mexico, for the 2010 year in the INEGI Population and Housing Census, the population over 60 years of age in Mexico now exceeds 10.9 million inhabitants, which represents more than 9.3 percent of the total population.1 According to Gerontological Care Models in México, old people’s home can be located as shelters. The shelters for older adults, is called the establishment where accommodation services are provided temporarily to older adults, while they are relocated to other institutions or their families, both are governmental institutions, but in Mexico there are residences that provide housing for the elderly, without any regulation.2 There is no clarity of functional old people’s home at the national or state level, since many of them function by public charity, some are only registered governmentally, but do not have a defined structure. The old people’s home in Mexico represent an option that arises from the lack of caregivers at home or lack of availability and time and are places where the elderly face various situations in addition to their aging.

There exists a voluminous literature where psychology researchers have documented the biases that people have (see Kahneman, Slovic, & Tversky, 1982; Kahneman & Tversky, 2000 for famous reviews).1,2 However, psychology researchers also are subject to biases, though this is an area that has received much less attention.3 Our goal is to make the case that there is a bias that psychology researchers have, that we term the correlation bias. Specifically, psychology researchers are biased towards looking for positive correlations and are relatively likely to ignore the possibility of negative correlations. Put another way, the correlation bias is a tendency for psychology researchers to be more likely to attempt to obtain positive than negative correlations.

The humerus is commonly affected by primary malignant bone tumors that may require wide surgical “en bloc” excision, when staging is negative [1,2]. When major nerves and vessels are not involved, limb salvage surgery becomes the mainstay treatment [3,4]. Total humerus replacement (THR), with shoulder and elbow arthroplasty, is a rarely performed surgery, but is the only reconstructive solution, providing partial aesthetic and functional preservation, when total humerus resection is required ¬[5-8]. The literature regarding functional and oncological outcomes for this procedure is limited, but published results are overall acceptable [6,9,10]. Compared to ablative surgery, limb preservation provides better functional outcomes with no difference in overall patient survival [11,12].

Hepatic artery aneurysms (HAA) are rare. Eighty per cent of patients present acutely with aneurysm rupture, with an attended high mortality. Diagnosis is difficult and often delayed, owing to the non-specific symptoms and lack of clinical findings [1,2]. A review of the literature showed that the HAA had surpassed splenic artery aneurysm (SAA) as the most frequently reported visceral artery aneurysm [3]. This recent trend is thought to be due to the proliferation of centres performing invasive diagnostic and therapeutic hepatobiliary procedures, many of which have hepatic artery pseudo-aneurysm formation as a recognised complication [4]. The natural history of HAA is poorly understood, however, it is suggested that mortality following spontaneous rupture is as high as 40%. Statistics such as these sanction an aggressive approach to the management of the HAA [5,6].

An intense bloom of Tetraselmis sp., producing strong water discoloration was observed from December 28th of 2005 through January 10th of 2006 in the Valparaiso Bay (32º 57’S; 71º 33’W). Blooms of Tetraselmis sp. have never been reported in this bay, or along the coast of Chile. The confluence of a series of environmental conditions observed before and during the bloom such as: high solar radiation, anomalous UV radiation levels, high sea surface temperatures, water stratification and high nutrient concentrations may have contributed to the development of this unique event.
