"Compassion is the mainstay of nursing care": A qualitative study on the perception of care and compassion in senior nursing students. “关怀是护理的主体”:护生关怀感知与关怀感知的质性研究。

Purpose: To describe nursing students' perceptions of care and compassion in the context of the clinical environment.

Design and methods: This phenomenological study data were collected by focus groups and Giorgi et al. stages used in the data analysis.

Findings: Sixteen students participated in this study. Four themes and 12 subthemes were determined. The themes were "Discovering the existence of care and facing up to care", "advancing on the road to becoming a nurse: from theory to practice," "compassionate care, beyond medical care," and "the effect of nursing education on professional compassion."

Practice implications: This study showed that nursing students grew by giving care and knowledge. In addition, compassionate care is gained by real-life stories and a supportive environment.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore psychiatric nurses' experiences of developing therapeutic relationships with adult survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA).

Design and methods: A qualitative descriptive design was adopted. Semistructured interviews were conducted with six registered psychiatric nurses. Data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis.

Findings: Although participants were able to develop therapeutic relationships with survivors and cited the importance of interpersonal skills, they felt uncomfortable discussing CSA.

Practice implications: Given the importance of developing trusting relationships, more support needs to be provided for nurses so they can build stronger alliances with survivors of CSA.

Female gender and low physical activity are risk factors for academic stress in incoming nursing students. 女性性别和低体力活动是新生学业压力的危险因素。

Purpose: Nursing students suffer from stress more frequently than other students. The objective was to analyze the academic stressors that most affect new nursing students.

Design and methods: A cross-sectional study on new nursing students.

Findings: Two hundred and eighty-two students, 78% women, mean age of 21.46 (6.1) years. Giving presentations in class and lack of time for homework are the items that cause the greatest academic stress. Women had higher levels of academic stress, and higher levels of physical activity are related to lower academic stress.

Practice implications: Women have a higher level of academic stress. Doing sport is a protective factor that diminishes academic stress the more it is practiced. Encouraging nursing students to play sports could be beneficial in reducing their academic stress, with women benefiting the most.

The relationship between domestic violence against women, adaptation to pregnancy and maternal-fetal antenatal attachment. 家庭暴力侵害妇女与怀孕适应及母婴产前依恋的关系。

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the relationship between domestic violence against women, adaptation to pregnancy, and maternal-fetal antenatal attachment.

Design and methods: The study consisted of 385 pregnant women who were referred to the antenatal clinics of a public hospital in eastern Turkey. The data were collected using the Domestic Violence against Women Scale (DVAWS), the Maternal-Fetal Antenatal Attachment Scale (MAAS), and the Prenatal Self-Evaluation Questionnaire (PSEQ) to assess adaptation to pregnancy.

Findings: Pregnant women were exposed to low level of violence (Mean ± SD: 64.42 ± 5.30). A statistically significant positive correlation was found between their DVAWS and PSEQ mean scores. There was also a statistically significant positive correlation between their DVAWS and MAAS mean scores.

Practice implications: Findings show that as domestic violence against women increased, adaptation to pregnancy decreased and maternal-fetal attachment increased.

Predictor variables that affect the resilience of university students: The effect of chronotypes. 影响大学生心理弹性的预测变量:时间类型的影响。

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of chronotypes and other variables as predictors of resilience in university students.

Method: The study was conducted with 1040 students studying at Ege University in Turkey.

Results: The mean total Adult Resilience Scale (ARS) score of the students was found to be 120.23 ± 17.54 and the mean total score of the Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ) was 47.56 ± 8.95 and 63.0% of the students had intermediate type chronotype. It was determined that the variables explaining 21.9% of the ARS were the students' gender, school, income status, health assessment, and MEQ subtypes.

Conclusion: It was concluded that the students' resilience was above the average, that more than half of them had the intermediate type chronotype, and that the independent variables determined in the study partially explained their psychological resilience.

Caregiving burden of family caregivers of substance-addicted people in Turkey. 土耳其药物成瘾者的家庭照顾者的照顾负担。

Purpose: The purpose of this exploratory study was to examine the caregiving burden (CB) and the determinants of burden among family members of substance-addicted people.

Design and methods: The sample of this cross-sectional research was 128 informal family caregivers of substance-addicted people. We collected data by using the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) assessing subjective burden.

Findings: Mean ZBI score was 52.2. The regression analysis showed that ZBI mean score was higher in female caregivers and caregivers with lower education, poor economic status, and longer caregiving duration. There was an inverse relationship between the addict's age and the CB.

Practice implications: The predictors of CB may assist in setting caregivers at greater risk of CB as targets for the intervention.

Purpose: To obtain nurses' perspectives regarding integrated interventions for substance use cessation for patients in general hospital settings.

Design and methods: (a) Quantitative survey (N = 207) (nurses' knowledge, attitude, practice, confidence regarding integrated interventions; (b) Focus groups exploring nurses' perspectives regarding integrated interventions (N = 32).

Findings: Participants' scores (mean, SD): Knowledge-112.5 (10.4) (maximum score-198); Attitude-30.99 (7.05) (maximum-52); Practice-1.66 (2.63) (maximum-28); Confidence-11.90 (3.82) (maximum-24). From the focus groups, four themes were identified: Substance use patterns among patients seeking treatment at the hospitals where the nurses are employed; Nurses' role in providing integrated interventions; Nurses' training needs for providing integrated interventions; Feasibility of providing integrated interventions.

Practice implications: Findings provide clear justification for module development to train nurses in providing integrated interventions.

Nursing students' beliefs about mental health, interest in work, and job tendencies. 护生心理健康信念、工作兴趣与工作倾向。

Purpose: To explore nursing students' mental health educational level, mental illness beliefs, and interest in working in mental health.

Design and methods: Descriptive research conducted with 173 nursing students which convenience sampled. The questionnaire was composed of mental illness beliefs, interest in working in mental health, and tendency to work in nursing areas.

Findings: Main finding demonstarted perception of dangerous from mental illness related to low interest in working in mental health regarding all nursing students.

Practice implications: There is a necessity to discuss mental health beliefs within theoretical and practical learning as it may eventually can contribute to the quality of care and improve the image of mental healthcare.

目的:了解护生心理健康教育水平、心理疾病信念及从事心理健康工作的兴趣。设计与方法:对方便抽样的173名护生进行描述性研究。问卷内容包括精神疾病信念、从事精神卫生工作的兴趣和从事护理工作的倾向。研究结果:主要发现所有护生对心理健康工作的兴趣较低,与心理疾病的危险认知相关。实践意义:有必要在理论和实践学习中讨论心理健康信念,因为它最终可能有助于提高护理质量并改善心理保健的形象。

Aim: To explore women's experiences on the psychoeducation programme based on Human Caring Theory in decreasing fear of childbirth.

Design and methods: This Husserlian phenomenological qualitative study was conducted with 11 women.

Results: Four themes were identified; "self-motivators for participate in psychoeducation programme", "psychoeducation: a bridge to deal with fears", "ability to manage the fear of childbirth," and "change in birth type preference", with 10 subthemes.

Practice implications: Clarifying the experiences of women on educational interventions gives an idea about the applicability, sustainability and developability of these interventions.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide information on the ethical problems faced by family caregivers of patients with schizophrenia.

Method: This study was conducted using a hermeneutical approach to phenomenology. Data were obtained by means of an individual interview process using a semi-structured interview guide.

Results: The results of this study revealed the following themes and sub-themes: higgledy-piggledy, walking on a thorny path, decision-making, subtheme, back of the mirror, victim, and dark well.

Practice implications: Expressed concerns have shown that caregivers not only face difficult challenges in the management of complicated and complicated illnesses, but also face ethical issues inherent in the role of caregivers and must take ethical decisions.
