Purpose: To determine the relationship between nurses' personality traits and their perceptions of management by values, organizational justice, and turnover intention.

Design and methods: It was a descriptive study. A demographic questionnaire, the big five personality scale, the organizational justice scale, the management by values scale, and the turnover intention scale were used to collect data.

Findings: Data analysis did not demonstrate any relationship between nurses' personality traits and their perceptions of management by values, organizational justice, and turnover intention. However, results of regression analysis concluded that perceptions of management by values affected the nurses' perceptions of organizational justice positively.

Practice implications: Nurses' perceptions of organizational justice can be raised and turnover intention may be reduced by improving their perceptions of management by values.

Purposes: This study aimed to determine the perceptions of gender and honor of students (n = 427) in various health science faculties and the relationship between those perceptions.

Design and methods: An introductory information form, the Gender Roles Attitude Scale (GRAS), and the Attitude Scale for Women-Related Conception of "Honor" (ASWRCH) were used as data collection tools.

Findings: The students' average scores on GRAS and ASWRCH were 159.7 ± 23.1 and 104.1 ± 15.5, respectively, demonstrating that students had an egalitarian attitude and perception of honor.

Conclusions: Students from health science faculties, trained to provide service for healthy/sick individuals, were found to have strong egalitarian attitudes in terms of gender and perception of honor.

Practice implications: Raising health sciences students, with an egalitarian approach in terms of gender and honor perception will enable them to adopt an egalitarian attitude in their personal and professional lives and to become agents of change in initiating and sustaining social change.

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the relationship between nursing students' professional attitudes and caring behaviors.

Design and methods: The research is a cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational study. The study was conducted with 202 nursing students. The participation rate was 95%.

Findings: The total Instrument of Professional Attitude for Student Nurses mean score was 106.708 ± 20.24 and the Caring Behaviors Inventory-24 mean score of the nursing students was 5.23 ± 0.88. A positive weak correlation was found between total Instrument of Professional Attitude for Student Nurses scores and sub-dimension scores, and Caring Behaviors Inventory-24 total scores of nursing students (p < .05).

Practice implications: The present study has demonstrated that the professional attitudes of students positively affect caring behaviors.

Purpose: To corroborate the factor structure of the brief Spanish Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale among patients with chronic pulmonary obstructive disease at Santa Marta, Colombia.

Design and methods: A psychometric study was done in which 409 patients with the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were included, aged between 40 and 102 years. Participants completed the 10 items on the brief Spanish Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed.

Findings: The two-dimensional structure was confirmed. The goodness of fit indicators was acceptable.

Practical implication: The brief Spanish Zung scale for depression has a clear two-dimensional structure for evaluating depressive symptoms in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. New studies should prove this dimensionality in patients with other clinical conditions.

Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the experiences of nursing students in holistic nursing clinical practice.

Design: Twenty senior nursing students participated in this study. Data were collected through focus group interviews with a qualitative approach followed by thematic data analysis.

Findings: Four themes were obtained holistic care, barriers to holistic care, the contributions of holistic nursing internship, and students' expectations.

Practice implications: The participants stated that they believe that physical care is sufficient enough in the care they provide to patients and their families in clinical practice and that they only provide physical care. However, they stated that they became aware of the importance of holistic care with this practice and gained better insights into their professional requirements.

Purpose: Paternal depression and inadequate attachment experienced in the postpartum period may be associated with future emotional and behavioural problems of children. This study aimed to investigate the paternal depression and attachment levels of first-time fathers.

Design and methods: The sample of this descriptive study consisted of 175 fathers with 3-6 months old babies whose wives applied to the polyclinic for check-up.

Findings: When the cut-off point of the scale was evaluated at 13 and above in this study, the risk of depression was found to be 14.2%. The level of attachment decreases as fathers' risk of depression increases (p < 0.05).

Practice implications: There is a risk of depression in fathers in the postpartum period. The level of attachment decreases as fathers' risk of depression increases.

Purpose: To investigate the ability of case managers, working in ambulatory treatment settings specialized in addiction care, to clinically judge demoralization in substance-dependent patients.

Design and methods: In a cross-sectional study, clinical judgments of case managers were compared with the patients' scores on the Demoralization Scale, by calculating the sensitivity and specificity scores.

Findings: Case managers identified demoralization in 85% of the cases (sensitivity), the specificity of 62% suggests that demoralization was overestimated by case managers.

Practice implications: Demoralization is a frequently occurring phenomenon in patients. Methods should be developed that allow professionals and patients to identify demoralization collaboratively, and to develop tailored interventions to prevent demoralization and its negative consequences.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the relationship between nurses' perceptions and their competences in spiritual care and influencing factors.

Design and methods: This correlational study was conducted with 700 nurses. The Spirituality and Spiritual Care Rating Scale (SSCRS) was used to determine nurses' spirituality perceptions. The Spiritual Care Competence Scale (SCCS) was used to evaluate the nurses' spiritual care competence.

Findings: The study results show a significant relationship between the mean item scores of the SSCRS and the SCCS (r = 0.264, p < 0.01).

Practice implications: The nurses' perceptions were high, but their competency in spiritual care was at a medium level.

Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the effect of psychoeducation and music intervention on stress, self-efficacy, and relapse rates in alcohol and substance use disorders.

Design and methods: This was a randomized controlled study. The study sample included 62 patients who met the inclusion criteria. For 3 weeks, the patients in the experimental group received eight sessions of psychoeducation and music intervention.

Findings: The total mean Self-Efficacy Scale score of the participants in the experimental group significantly increased as compared with that of the control group. The experimental group's total mean Perceived Stress Scale score and relapse rate significantly decreased compared to that of the control group.

Practice implications: Psychoeducation and music intervention effectively reduced stress, increased self-efficacy, and prevented relapses.

Purpose: To examine the effects of the nurses' perceived stress and life satisfaction on their emotional eating behaviors.

Design and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among a random sample of 297 nurses in a research hospital.

Findings: There is a negative correlation between nurses' emotional eating and life satisfaction (β = -0.192, p < 0.001), and a positive correlation between emotional eating and perceived stress (β = 0.392, p < 0.001). Perceived stress, life satisfaction, and marital status constituted 24% of the factors affecting emotional eating behaviors.

Practice implications: Psychiatric nurses would benefit from developing effective training programs that support nurses in making healthy lifestyle choices.
