The work is devoted to a decision support system used in a monitoring system for the research and management of steam power plants. It examines the possibility of the effective use of fuzzy, badly-made knowledge in a lattice of expert knowledge, using the example of vibration diagnosis of rotating mechanisms of steam power plants. Also studied is the formalization of fuzzy knowledge, with the application of fuzzy sets theory and the methodology of artificial intelligence, for structured knowledge.

In UV-excited F/sub 2/+H/sub 2/ dry cleaning, the etching mechanism and selective etching of silicon native oxide were investigated using PSG, BSG, TEOS and thermal oxide film on silicon wafers. Also, the removal of silicon native oxide in contact holes after UV-excited F/sub 2/+H/sub 2/ dry cleaning, was defined by confirming the reduction of Kelvin resistance.

Using the television-optical measuring technique, TOMSC-1, investigations of mesoscale deformation patterns of surface-hardened structural steels were carried out. Surface hardening was performed by diffusion boriding to produce a hardened layer with a discrete structure and complex interface profile. Mesoband length, as well as the character of mesostructure formed in the substrate, are defined by crack relative position that, in turn, depends on interface profile.
