A volume use efficiency of capacitively and inductively coupled low-pressure plasma generators does not exceed 45-50 %. For example, the most widespread kind of reactors-that is cylindrical-in capacitively coupled plasma generators the excitation of plasma has a place at the center of the reactor, and in inductively coupled plasmas-on periphery. According to told, usage of the inductor and the capacitor of the resonator for connection the RF power source with the reactor we receive an opportunity to maintain a discharge in all volume of the reactor, increasing by this the power efficiency of the plasma generator. Combining a principle of hybrid plasma excitation with multiway discharge excitation with use of the distributed source of energy, one can maintain in the reactor with large linear dimensions a uniform plasma torch.

The mechanism responsible for very high rates of metal dissolution at electrodes illuminated by a laser beam was investigated. It was found that the laser-electrochemical (LEC) dissolution rates can reach as high as 0.1 mm/s. A glass capillary is used as an electrode device through which electrolyte flows and laser beam passes. The LEC technology is applied for production of microholes in electronic optical systems of picture tubes and standards for ultrasonic flaw detection.

Recently, CAS (computer assisted surgery) has been used widely in the field of brain and spine surgery. In the CAS system, the real 3-D position of the surgical probe is overlapped with the patient's pre-acquired 3-D image. This 3-D position detector is called a 3-D navigator and there are several techniques to detect the real 3-D position of the probe. In this research, the authors propose a new method using two camera system with one image grabber. Using this new method, simultaneous capture of a stereo image is possible by one frame grabber. So the authors can minimize errors due to time lag between images and further reduce costs. Left and right LEDs can be separated by a simple color processing algorithm on a PC. The authors are planning to separate three LEDs by applying further color information to each LED. This will offer faster calculation of the 3-D positions of the LEDs. And another approach which can eliminate the control line between system and probe is progressed. This cordless probe will provide convenience in surgical work.

The possibilities and singularities of use of the maximum likelihood method for an improvement of the estimations of denominator polynomial factors at reconstruction of an object discrete transfer function on noisy estimation of its impulse response are considered. The application of this method reduces the necessity of a nonlinear algebraic system solution. The special iterative algorithm of a solution of the indicated system is offered, in which for each step the solution of two linear systems is made. In this case the reconstruction error of the required factors is generated by an arbitrary enough choice of transfer function order of the shaping filter and by the iterative character of a nonlinear system solution. The procedure of indirect monitoring of the obtained estimations effectiveness by means of inspection of indexes of centrality, whiteness and normality of generating noise estimation is offered.

In this paper, we propose the method of an improvement of 3D sound orchestra for two channel headphones in the cyber space. We set up the musical instruments with piano, cellos, and violins in virtual sphere space to carry out the performance. Sounds from each instrument are convolved with HRTF (head related transfer function) and is mixed by using the Sound Forge Software. We analyze the effects of the sound characteristics of each instrument location for 3D sound listening.

Application servers (ASs) are actively used by various companies as a basis of distributed systems supporting remote user access to some application functions. Developing multi-user software seems a non-trivial problem for the necessity of providing parallel process interaction. The geoinformation AS (Markov and Ostrast, 1999) is of the following structure of process interaction. For each user connected, a session is created as a process. Each session has a time limit, after expiration of which the unused session is deleted. The main process carries out process creation/deletion and processing of the global session list. A lump of processes and the necessity of their synchronization have required modeling AS software for validating its correctness. The formalism of PS-nets has been used by the authors as the model of representing the parallel processes (Markov et al., 1997). With its help, the problems of validating AS software correctness have been analyzed.

In general, W particles in liquid Cu are observed to be spherical (nonfaceted), showing no anisotropy in solid-liquid interfacial energy. However, the morphology of W particle in liquid Cu was observed to be faceted during the liquid phase sintering of mechanically alloyed W-Cu composite powder. The present work describes the morphological variation of W-particle which occurs during liquid phase sintering of Cu-5 wt% W composite powder prepared by the mechanical milling process. As the milling process proceeds, the time needed to attain the equilibrium nonfaceted morphology is increased.
