Objectives: to analyze the sexual behavior of individuals who tested positive for HIV and were treated at Testing and Counseling Centers, according to sociodemographic characteristics.
Methods: this was a cross-sectional study conducted in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil, between 2018 and 2021. Data were collected from patient records, including sociodemographic and sexual behavior variables, which were dichotomized as high vs. low/moderate risk.
Results: a total of 214 individuals were included, of whom 111 (51.9%) exhibited high-risk sexual behavior: having a steady or casual partner, having six or more partners, having relationships with both men and women, sometimes/never using condoms and lubricants, and having anal sex. No association was identified between high-risk sexual behavior and sociodemographic variables.
Conclusions: high-risk sexual behavior was observed among individuals living with HIV without a specific profile, requiring public policies that encourage the adoption of safe sex practices and reduce virus transmission.

Objectives: to identify factors associated with the presence of emotional disorders and the quality of life of nursing professionals who provided care to patients with COVID-19.
Methods: a quantitative study was conducted between February and March 2021, with a convenience sample of 11,477 nursing professionals from Brazilian institutions. The Self-Reporting Questionnaire-20 and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-bref were administered.
Results: in the sample (86.24% women, mean age 33.27 years), female professionals belonging to a risk group for COVID-19, who worked in hospitals with a shortage of personal protective equipment, suffered verbal or physical aggression on public transportation, or were isolated from their families, presented higher levels of emotional disorders measured by the Self-Reporting Questionnaire-20 and reduced quality of life in all World Health Organization Quality of Life-bref domains.
Conclusions: personal and institutional work conditions have impacted the mental health and quality of life of Brazilian nurses.

Objectives: to describe the development process of an instrument to monitor the development of (self-)care competencies in individuals with gastrostomies and their caregivers.
Methods: methodological research study. Content validity was obtained through a focus group of experts. The instrument was pre-tested on a sample of 18 participants, using a non-probabilistic and intentional sampling technique. Inter-rater agreement was also assessed at a hospital in northern Portugal.
Results: the study resulted in an instrument with 34 measurement indicators, grouped into six domains, with recognized content validity. In the instrument pre-test, good inter-rater agreement values of 80-100% were obtained.
Conclusions: the instrument proved to be comprehensive and easy to apply in assessing (self)care competency in feeding ostomies, offering potential for future validity investigations.

Objectives: to develop a middle-range theory for the risk for shock in people with acute myocardial infarction.
Methods: theoretical-causal validity of the nursing diagnosis "Risk for shock" in people with acute myocardial infarction, based on a middle-range theory. The study followed six stages: definition of the approach for theory construction; definition of conceptual models; definition of main concepts; development of pictorial diagram; construction of propositions; establishment of causal relationships and evidence for practice.
Results: three essential attributes were identified, 23 clinical antecedents related to the risk for shock, eight theoretical propositions were formulated, and causal relationships were established between the identified stimuli and the essential attributes.
Conclusions: the theory developed established relationships between theory and practice based on the establishment of propositions and causal relationships that allow nurses' diagnostic reasoning.

Objectives: to analyze the creation and implementation of the first class of the Hospital Nursing Specialization Course focusing on Neonatal Nursing, between the years 2000 and 2001.
Methods: a historical-social, descriptive study using documentary research, adopting established criteria for reporting qualitative research. It utilized eight documentary sources from the Memory Center of the Nursing School of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG, Federal University of Minas Gerais) and the Sofia Feldman Hospital. The findings were analyzed under the framework of Eliot Freidson's sociology of professions.
Results: two analytical categories emerged: "Initial efforts to enhance the training of specialist nurses in neonatology" and "Bringing ideas to life : implementation of the Hospital Nursing Specialization Course" : Details the concrete steps for turning the course into reality, from planning to execution.
Conclusions: the first class of specialist neonatal nurses contributed to the development of nursing's own body of knowledge, enabling the acquisition of specialized expertise and the credentials necessary to support the profession's market reserve.

Objectives: to develop a Situation-Specific Theory based on the Self-Efficacy Theory applied to breastfeeding mothers in socioeconomic vulnerability.
Methods: the Situation-Specific Theory was constructed based on Callista Roy's assumptions, structured in six stages: (1) defining approach; (2) defining conceptual models; (3) defining the main concept; (4) developing a pictorial diagram; (5) constructing a proposition; (6) establishing causal relationships and evidence for practice.
Results: eight socioeconomic factors such as age, parity, maternal occupation, education, marital status, race, social support and family income interfere with the sources of self-efficacy in mothers in socioeconomic vulnerability. The Situation-Specific Theory elements were associated in a pictorial diagram and in causal relationships evidenced by six propositions.
Conclusions: it is concluded that the Situation-Specific Theory can provide a better understanding of the relationships between these factors with the sources of Self-Efficacy Theory in mothers with socioeconomic vulnerability.

Objectives: to analyze user experience in the metaverse during an academic-scientific nursing event in Brazil.
Methods: a quantitative-qualitative documentary study, based on records of a survey applied during an academic-scientific event broadcast in the metaverse. The AttrakDiff questionnaire assessed user experience. Descriptive and inferential analyses were performed considering p<0.05. Qualitative data were categorized using content analysis. The study complied with research ethics standards.
Results: positive experiences were observed in the dimensions assessed. Being in the age group of over 60 years was associated with the pragmatic quality dimension (p=0.012), which had a positive average. The comments had very similar impressions of potentialities and limitations, regardless of prior knowledge of the platform.
Conclusions: the study contributed to understanding user experience in immersive environments applied to nursing, evidencing favorable assessments regarding the metaverse usability and functionality, highlighting its effectiveness among older users.

Objectives: to report the process of adapting a Mental Health Risk Stratification Instrument through a workshop.
Methods: experience report of the process of adapting an instrument, which is not validated, through a workshop with health professionals from the Psychosocial Care Network of a medium-sized city, using Paulo Freire's dialogical pedagogy as a methodological framework.
Results: the workshop enabled dialogue, reflection and collective construction. The professionals identified weaknesses in the instrument, such as unclear descriptors, lack of criteria that considered socio-family and subjective aspects, and doubts regarding the applicability of risk categories. They suggested adjustments, discussed disagreements and sought consensus.
Final considerations: mutual listening and the appreciation of professional experiences favored the appropriation of the instrument by the participants, strengthening the commitment to the qualification of mental health care and positively impacting the improvement of the work processes of the teams.

Objectives: to construct and validate the content of an instrument for assessing the competencies of resident nurses in neonatology.
Methods: this descriptive study involved the construction and validity of a measuring instrument. Stage 1 involved a literature review to establish the conceptual framework, define competencies and objectives, and select and organize items. Stage 2 involved developing the instrument. Stage 3 involved seven expert judges who validated the content using the Delphi technique, with a Content Validity Index greater than or equal to 80%.
Results: the score given by expert judges, in the first round, ranged from 0.572 to 1.00, with an average of 0.901 and a standard deviation of 0.161, and in the second round, it showed a value of 1.00.
Conclusions: the instrument for assessing the competencies of resident nurses in neonatology has had its content validated, and its psychometric properties can now be tested.
