This paper presents a study on the introduction of trees into urban space after 1960 on the example of Szczecin and Goleniów, Selected area types located in downtown areas such as: front gardens, greenery strips along streets, and trees lining streets, were observed over a period of five years and analysed. This paper is also intended to present the significant problem of trees dying in downtown areas. Current methods of alleviating the difficult situation of trees in the city were also presented.

The article analyzes how selected important public places in Praga-Północ have developed throughout history and how, in the face of today's economic, functional and spatial conditions as well as socio-cultural needs, create inclusive, resident-friendly urban spaces that build a positive image of the district. The authors will attempt to present proposal for system of interconnected public spaces based on the potential of the place. The model of connections, the proposed system of urban spaces in Praga-Północ is based on many years of researches in situ.

This article intends to analyse the historic village-castle of Kharanaq, which has been inhabited for over a thousand years in various historical periods. Different layers of habitation make Kharanaq’s residential context different from other castles or villages of Iran. This village-castle is fortified by high walls and is located at the edge of the Central Desert of Iran. This article focuses on identifying the interaction of the inhabitants with the desert environment of the village-castle through an analysis of its cultural landscape and the typology of its residential houses, as well as the current situation of its architecture and spaces.

Current situation of worsening of the health of individuals and societies requires response in architectural design. The article discusses possibilities for integration of health aspects and well-being factors in investment process in pursue of sustainability, by utilizing the advantages of the green building rating systems and evaluation tools which are already present in international and national practice. The aim of this article is to indicate the need for an integral approach in creating a built environment that allows for a healthy life in accordance with the location and current social and other problems. The author believes that the recognition of architectural objects as an integral part of complex urban structures is a necessary approach that determines the integration of the discussed aspects in design. The process should also include raising public awareness, focusing on better planning and design tools, and systems for collecting data and measuring health impacts. Integrating health parameters with already existing sustainable design procedures and standards is crucial. The core of the study was the observation and analysis of the already built housing environment, planned and designed according to the principles of sustainable development, in order to determine the degree of taking into account environmental elements and aspects of health on the object and urban scale.

Multi-family housing of high intensity may pose a significant threat to the health and life of residents during epidemics. Excessive concentration of a larger population in a confined area and the long time people spent together during a day create favorable conditions for the spread of pathogens. Complete elimination of the threat in such areas does not seem possible, and the same applies to the full identification of routes pathogens use to spread. The aim of the study is to indicate architectural solutions, with particular emphasis on archetypes, that can reduce the risk to health and life of people in residential areas. In this case, the study uses observation, analysis, and logical construction methods. The epidemic and its consequences highlighted the need to abandon trends that increase the compactness of cities and define residents’ movement patterns.

The issue of acoustics is still underappreciated both in interior design in public utility facilities and in urbanized spaces. As noise pollution is on the rise, acoustic ecology is a vital part of responsible urban planning. The article explores the issue of sound in an open space in terms of noise protection, but its primary goal is to discuss it in the context of shaping a soundscape consciously. Finally, the article points out that it is crucial to protect soundscape as cultural heritage.

A comparative typological and metrological analysis of defensive structures of 53 castles in the western regions of Ukraine is carried out. Fortification lines of castles are classified, based on the division of fortresses by their dimensions, proposed in the treatise on fortification in 1659 by J. Naronovich-Naronsky. The reasons for the functioning of castle fortifications with different levels of defense in one period are explained.

The Tehelné Pole football stadium in Bratislava is the largest and the most prestigious sports arena in Slovakia. In this paper the author characterises the specific features that distinguish this facility from other modern football stadiums. He analysed its significance to the popularisation of football in this country, using an original sports facility evaluation methodology. The author assessed the functioning of the stadium and distinguished the components influencing the effectiveness of its regionand state-wide operation, as well as on the district and city scale—in the macro and micro scales. The study demonstrates the development potential of the Slovak’s football infrastructure compared to Central Europe.

In this article, we focus on the subject of the show garden and place for path in the garden, in particular its forms and functions in space and meaning. The form and function of path was examined on the basis of selected, representative examples of historical gardens and contemporary show gardens of the festival in Chaumont-sur-Loire. The results showed that a path is the leading element of every garden, and its form has a decisive influence on the composition of the entire space and allows you to note content. Based on the research results, road system diagrams in historical gardens were developed and model concepts for show gardens inspired by the history of gardens were developed. The currently very touching topic of Quarantine has become the leitmotif of the garden content.

The “input-output desideratum”, outlined in the New Athens Charter, sets new requirements for urban designers. Nowadays, using modern techniques, we can solve weighty contemporary urban problems using such system of designing, which balances quantitative and qualitative parameters of the urban matter. The text presents the part of the designing system that uses methodology of the meteorology. Proper use of this system allows to control and design parameters of the socalled urban canopy. The urban canopy covers the area of reduced energy consumption and increased comfort of using the public space between the buildings constituting urban tissue. Urban canopy is characterized by multiplier effects, obtained - among others - thanks to the use of aerodynamics in urban design. Shaping buildings, supported by empirical method (with use of models), allows to implement the so-called filters and regulators postulated in the Charter: the elements that maintain the city's structure in balance.
