The look at the city silhouette in the context of urban planning only from the point of view of the classical approach to the city panorama as seen and analysed from afar is not entirely appropriate. The method of analysis of urban landscape presented in this paper, using the example of Wrocław, shows that the study of inner-city panoramas, i.e. those situated at the street level, i.e. the level of human perception, is much more accurate. Such an analysis is an excellent tool for shaping legal provisions in local plans also for green areas.

In the article, based on the author's methodology, the combinatorial method of form making is analyzed, its principles and features of interpretation in the nature-integrated architecture are defined. The basic methods of using vegetation combinatorics in nature-integrated architecture are identified: combinatorics of vegetation on the facade planes; layer-by-layer modifications of combined plant and artificial pseudo-grid elements of architectural form.

The surprising similarity between decorative motifs found in Rome, Versailles, Warsaw, Berlin, Vienna and Szczecin is worth taking a closer look at to see how they relate. The popularity of the iconographic motif depicting Fames blowing on trumpets grew significantly during the Baroque period. It was because of its visual attractiveness and explicitness. This motive was a clear sign of the founder's prestige. The sources of the formal similarities between the presented examples are discussed in this article.

This article deals with the design of new generation of airports terminals using the concept of smart interactive terminal and presents its main functional zones and technologies. In addition, adoption of technology as symbolic expressive tool in the architecture of airports terminals. Problem of the research is lack of approach and practice of smart interactive terminals functional planning and organization, the previous researches about this type of buildings are dealing with the influence of technology on one functional zone inside the terminal, not taking all functional zones inside it. The aims of research are presenting the influence of technology on all functional zones inside the smart interactive terminal and understanding the connection between them, this study will look also at the transformation of airport terminal interior design in relation to technology and automatic passengers processing systems. additionally, introducing the functional planning of smart interactive terminals buildings and its architectural design features. The results of developing a smart integrated terminal are presented. A comparative functional analysis was done of the proposed terminals as well as its design and technology.

The article presents the methodology for the analysis of industrial renovation facilities for multifunctional complexes. This methodology provides for the consistent conduct of multilateral comprehensive research, the total assessment of which is crucial for choosing the type of multifunctional complex and the optimal direction of renovation. The presented analysis technique is suitable both for renovation of typical and neutral industrial enterprises, and for the rehabilitation of historical buildings and structures. The basis of the method is an integrated approach, which involves the examination of the object of study as an element of a single urban structure, which excludes the possibility of making limited and not complex decisions.

The following article focuses on the issue of various conditions that affect the functioning of commercial streets. The goal is to present the issue in the aspect of increasing competition from modern shopping malls, development of commerce on the internet and the ongoing process of change in consumer habits. Alongside general trends related to the transformation of downtown areas in recent decades, the processes mentioned were further supported by examples observed in London and Warsaw. The research methods adopted by the author comprise source literature research, including reports on the condition of commercial streets in cities worldwide, especially reports dating back to the last two years, that is 2018/2019, when the transformation processes of downtown areas, as well as the concepts regarding compact city began to emerge again. While observing the described phenomena, the author’s idea of heuristic method in the places of transformation was also applied. In the conclusion to the following paper, an attempt was made to indicate the directions for corrective actions, thereby isolating such transformations of the city downtown areas that will allow to preserve the proper functioning of commercial streets in a natural way.

The paper is a part of a wider research developed by the authors since 2014 about the relationship between Modern Architecture in Barcelona and Milan between ’40s and ’60s . Here a particular building type the „double slab” has been investigated. It is based on a modular design system for housing quite popular among architects in Barcelona and throughout Spain. The “double slab” is very well typologically defined and for this reason got a strong identity but at the same time it is quite flexible and easy to be adapted to different styles which span from pre-modernism to the contemporary styles passing through the Regionalism.

Nowadays it is possible to identify a series of parameters that contribute to defining the liveability characteristics of a public space. It is important that all the parameters are satisfied because they are elements that interfere with each other. Morphological characteristics, which partly contribute to defining the environmental performance of the space, together with the functional characteristics of the area, determined by the presence of activities, must be assessed together; however, evaluating them not only in qualitative but also in quantitative terms is not always easy to do. The paper pre-sents a way to evaluate this characteristic of urban space through examples.

The main purpose of the article is to present the transformation process of the urban complex known as the Imperial Shipyard in Gdańsk. Its rich history and interesting location on the waterfront of the city as well as its proximity to the very centre makes this area a much sought-after location for the new urban development project, which is part of the wider new district in the city centre of Gdańsk – the Young City. The article presents an outline of the proposed development concept in light of the history of the site and transformation processes of the entire district..
