The article describes chosen design aspects of prominent buildings that serve for performing and listening to music and that become part of the urban public space. The space for the audience surrounding a concert hall has the characteristics of a public space. In recent years this has become very important. The article focuses on three examples from to show how the quality of the design of the building and its concert hall make the building attract people and gain the status of a public space.

The topic of the paper is determining the impact of an epidemic threat situation on the design of office space and office buildings. The types of actions taken to improve safety are: procedural actions, modifications of technical solutions: architectural and installation and remote work. Solutions in the field of office space architecture include: reducing the density of occupants, introducing partitions, eliminating multi-person offices, using materials that are easy to disinfect and clean, opening windows and installing personal protective equipment dispensers. The installation solutions include air quality improvement, filtration and disinfection systems as well as telecommunication installation systems supervising the use of the building. It can be expected that in the future, technical solutions will be introduced into the designs of buildings and office spaces, which will be a place for meetings, spontaneous interactions, mutual inspiration of employees and strengthening their identification with the employer whereas the ratio of office work places will be lower. The structure of the building is likely to change to a richer commertial part, a co-working part and flexible offices, and a traditional part of office space for lease, but as such office buildings will still be needed.

The direction of housing development results from changes in the spatial consciousness of the society. The article, based on historical studies of Russian housing, hypothesizes that the development of the geometry of living quarters is characterized by cyclical changes. The spatial image of living premises as the basis of its reproduction is influenced by informational factors: external – inherent in the global design technology existing at a certain historical time, and internal, arising from the experience gained as a result of local construction. Both information streams change the state of political awareness that determines the direction of structural changes in the physical environment until they are effectively used.

The city is an artwork in itself, as its urban and architectural structure creates unique spaces that offer emotions and experiences on various scales. Details and sculptures are used to build the city’s nature and recognisability. The paper presents an approach to the city as an exhibition, where the relationship between the environment and the displayed object is created. What is the contemporary role of these works of art, such as sculpture, in urban space? Do they only fill the space or commemorate historical facts, or were they consciously arranged in relationship with their surroundings to create unique values?

Architects, as a professional group, publish articles in trade journals—dedicated to their profession—and some also publish in academic journals. There are several types of academic articles and each serves a different purpose. Each of these types has a specific layout, which should be adhered to. The author, while working on the material in the manuscript to be sent to an academic journal, should be aware of the type of paper they are writing and this should be stated in the abstract—the TYPE of paper, similarly to keywords. Upon the submission of an abstract and later the full text of the paper to the editorial office, the author accepts the terms and conditions presented by the academic journal. Along with the submission of an abstract, there begins the complex work of the journal’s editorial team on the final preparation of the manuscript for publication.

The article proves that a systematic approach to the urban organization of coastal areas includes complex environmental and recreational tasks. The study examines in detail the need to create a comprehensive strategy for the restoration of the coastal zone. The complex of measures is substantiated, among which the activation of water protection functions of coastal areas, rehabilitation of disturbed territories, use of recreational and town-planning potential of coastal territories for formation of recreational base along water area, development of integrated system of management of processes of coastal zones and integration of ecosystems. The work separately highlights the possibility of creating a recreational cluster that will ensure the continuity of the natural framework, given the multi-vector formation of the urban environment. It is established, that the connection of the recreational cluster with the suburban green strip and water area will create a pedestrian recreational corridor in the city and beyond, as well as contribute to the greening of the city and influence the modeling of ecological infrastructure.

The issue of wind in an urbanized structure, considered in the context of benefits, forces to undertake activities across multiple disciplines. The lack of understanding of the aerodynamic phenomena in heterogeneous space may lead to failures in implemented projects. The article presents the general scope of issues related to the urban wind turbine and the numerical CFD simulation of air flows in the Słoneczne housing estate in Szczecin, together with the conclusions drawn from it.

The article presents the structure of wood as a fibrous composite made up of cells susceptible to moisture absorption. Attention was paid to the impact of insulation materials on the durability of wood. The flow of moisture in materials such as wood and glass wool representing a group of porous and non-absorbing materials is shown. Microscopic pictures of pine and oak wood, wood fibre mats and glass wool are shown. The full construction of fibers of glass wool and other e. g. mineral wool, makes them extremely non-beneficial for warming partitions in buildings involving wood. Materials with a stable heat conductivity in terms of natural humidity changes in construction works were recommended.

The article deals with the issue of the nature and quality of reviews of scientific publications in the research area of architecture and urban planning. The aim of the article is to indicate the unique character of the undertaken research topic, often implying unconventionally undertaken research methods. As a result, the proposals for extending the offer of publishing patterns are discussed, which could enable the presentation of research results in the discipline of architecture and urban planning. These present, in a way that goes beyond the schemas, issues from the border of exact, humanistic, natural, social and artistic sciences. The methods used allow for the characterization of selected scientific publications as well as scientific reviews.

Local spatial development plans, are one of the most important urban landscaping tools. Their goal is, on the one hand, to protect urban space including, inter alia, prevention of creation of illconsidered developments, that are bad to the urban landscape, the environment or the local communities. For this purpose, there is a number of restrictions introduced into local spatial development plans. On the other hand, the role of local plans is also creating the space, so they should be conducive to projects with high-quality architecture, that are often unconventional and innovative, adding new value to the architectural landscape of the city, which could be blocked by too strict regulations. The trick is to create regulations in a way that can help reconcile that two goals.
