1018 articles in MIS published since 1977 have been fully read and analyzed in order to describe the research activity in the MIS field. First of all we explain the deductive and multi dimensional approach used. Then we describe the typical components of the resear- ch field and his evolution from 1977 to 2001. The research field seems to be continuously centered on a prevailing problem: the Evaluation. A comparative analysis between the French-spoken and the English-spoken researches shows numerous differences in the pro- blems studied and in the way the research is conducted.

In this study we investigate how members of text-based, asynchronous online Communities of Practice (COPs) adopt knowledge contributed by other COP members. Previous studies of knowledge adoption in computer-mediated settings have drawn on dual-process theories of information processing to understand the role of heuristic cues and elaboration likelihood in this process. Here we extend this research stream, exploring two potential new heuristic cues: genre conformity and information consistency. In addition, we examine the factors focused search and disconfirming information to understand how they may induce non-heuristic cognitive processes. Survey data were collected from an online COP and findings support the hypotheses generated from our research model. This study advances our understanding of knowledge sharing in online COPs. Findings suggest that the context of an online COP can play a dynamic role in how members process the content component of that COP. Focusing on the pull technology of online COPs, it offers another theoretical link between Computer-Mediated Communications and knowledge management. Practically, it also provides us with insights into online COPs as a potential means for improving organizational knowledge management.

A large and growing body of empirical research investigates the black box of intra- organizational knowledge transfer. Despite its richness, there is a paucity of theoretically- grounded research that integrates the role of governance and social mechanisms in knowledge transfer to understand how they can be simultaneously promoted to create value. In this paper, we rely on three theories: governance, norms and utility to develop a comprehensive model of knowledge transfer and its effects at the individual level. Our model is tested with a survey of 485 employees from a global knowledge service firm. Findings show that knowledge transfer (conceptualized as the contribution, and adoption of knowledge resources) in the context of knowledge platforms and its subsequent outcomes at the individual level can be promoted by three categories of mechanisms: norms-based (identification and collaboration), governance-based (knowledge structure role) and utility-based (knowledge attributes and accessibility). The present study thus contributes to a deeper understanding of the value of intra-organizational knowledge transfer.

Augmented reality creates new affordances for shopping-related interactions because it allows consumers to experience a product within the context of their choice and in a customized way before making a purchasing decision. There is a need to evaluate the potential of this technology and its features in order to integrate it strategically into e- and m-commerce activities. Given that technologies are now developing on a global scale, research should take a multiple country approach. The present study provides qualitative cross-country insights into four European nations and provides guidelines on how to conduct Q-investigations within comparative settings. The results suggest that both divergence and convergence phenomena occur calling for a differentiated approach to target users and to the development of applications.
