Influence of auxin and rooting substrate on adventitious rooting in Chukrasia tabularis mini-cuttings: Implications for clonal propagation 生长素和生根基质对油茶扦插不定根的影响:对无性系繁殖的影响

Chukrasia tabularis, a secondary timber with potential for plantation forestry and genetic conservation, exhibits rapid growth and variable seed output. Yet, shoot borer susceptibility affects stem shape, while short seed viability and heterozygosity management are vital for quality. The innovative technique of mini-clonal propagation holds significant importance in tree improvement initiatives, especially for efficiently propagating superior genetic variants of the tree species on a larger scale. As Chukrasia tabularis is widely utilized for timber, effective methods for clone propagation become crucial. This newfound knowledge aids propagators, geneticists, and tree enhancement experts in optimizing propagation approaches, reducing costs, and improving root formation success. In this study the effects of varying concentrations of IBA (Indole-3-butyric acid), IAA (Indole-3-acetic acid), and NAA (Naphthaleneacetic Acid) powders (500 ppm, 1000 ppm, 1500 ppm, and 2000 ppm), alongside untreated cuttings as controls were investigated. Stem cuttings of 10-15 cm were immersed in these growth hormones before planting in 4 different rooting media (cocapith: perlite mixture, cocapith: perlite+ biochar, sand: soil and decomposed cocapith: perlite). The study discovered that treating Chukrasia tabularis stem cuttings with IBA at 1000 ppm before planting in the cocapith:perlite mixture significantly enhanced root development (74%) and survival rates (99%).

Enhancing maize profitability through altering split application of nitrogen and potassium at different stages 通过改变氮肥和钾肥在不同阶段的分配来提高玉米的盈利能力

The research trial was carried out during summer 2023 at Maize Research station, Vagarai to study the effect of altering split schedule and ratio of nitrogen and potassium application on hybrid maize under irrigated conditions. The research trial was laid out in Randomised block design (RBD) with six treatments and four replications. The trial comprises treatments viz., T1 – recommended split (25:100:100% NPK as basal, 50% N on 25 DAS, 25% N on 45 DAS),T2 – Alternate split I (25:100:50% NPK as basal, 50:50:50% N&K on 25 DAS, 25% N on 45 DAS),T3 – Alternate split II (33.3:100:33.3% NPK as basal, 33.3:0:33.3% N&K on 25 DAS,33.3:0:33.3% N&K on 45 DAS),T4 – Alternate split III (25:100:25% NPK as basal, 25:0:25% N&K on 25 DAS, 25:0:25% N&K on 45 DAS, 25:0:25% NPK on 60 DAS), T5 – Alternate split IV (20:100:20% NPK as basal, 20:0:20% NPK on 15 DAS, 20:0:20% NPK on 30 DAS, 20:0:20% NPK on 45 DAS, 20:0:20% NPK on 60 DAS) T6 – Absolute control. Among treatmental combinations, Alternate split IV (20:100:20% NPK as basal, 20:0:20% NPK on 15 DAS, 20:0:20% NPK on 30 DAS, 20:0:20% NPK on 45 DAS, 20:0:20% NPK on 60 DAS) registered higher grain yield, stover yield as well as economic returns. While the lowest yield parameters and economics were registered in control. Based on the experimental results, it could be concluded that split application has paramount effect on increasing yield and thereby increasing the increasing net returns and thereby preventing the wastage of fertilizers.

Trend and variability of monsoonal rainfall in different blocks of Chhattisgarh 恰蒂斯加尔邦不同地区季风降雨的趋势和变率

An attempt has been done for the trend analysis and to find out the variability of monsoonal rainfall of different (146) blocks of Chhattisgarh. For that Long-term rainfall data of 25 years (1996-2020) was collected from the department of Agrometeorology, CoA, IGKV, Raipur (C.G.). for the trend analysis linear trend method was used with the help of TREND software. And Coefficient of variation was utilized to quantify the monsoonal variability. Results revealed that In Chhattisgarh plain zone out of 89 blocks, 3 blocks (Rajim, Mahasamund, Arang) observed a significantly increasing trend, and only 1 block (Champa) reported significantly decreasing trend of monsoonal rainfall. In the Bastar plateau zone out of 25 blocks 11 blocks observed significantly increasing trend of monsoonal rainfall. In the Northern hill zone out of 32 blocks, only 1 block (Jaspur) observed a significantly increasing trend and 11 blocks observed significantly decreasing trend of monsoonal rainfall. In Chhattisgarh Plain Zone, Monsoonal variability ranged between 13% (Malkharoda block) to 31% (Deobhog block). In Bastar plateau zone, Monsoonal variability ranged between 16% (Kondagaon block) to 28% (Sukma block). In Northern Hill Zone Monsoonal variability ranged between 15% (Pharsabahar and Duldula block) to 27% (Surajpur block).

Exploration of various markers in segregation of male and female in palmyra palm (Borassus flabellifer L.) 棕榈(Borassus flabellifer L.)雌雄分离中各种标记的探索

Borassus flabellifer L. popularly called karpaga viruksham i.e,. “Multipurpose tree” in Tamil culture is an economically significant plant with its vast range of application in food and medicine. Especially, the quality of food produces from female palmyra attracts high economical value which encourages the farmers to grow trees with more female to male sex ratio. But Palmyra has a long juvenile period of 12-15 years and is difficult to segregate them before inflorescence. In the recent past, very few attempts had been made in the arena of molecular markers to distinguish the sex of palmyra and most of the work states that markers couldn’t be relied strongly or it fails to segregate them. Yet OPA-06 marker was found to be reliable sex discriminating marker. Thus this study focus on examining the reliability of four different markers including OPA-06, M1 & M2, F1 & F2, F3 & F4 in sex discrimination of palmyra from three different locations (Coimbatore, Ramnad, Viluppuram) of Tamil Nadu. Thus the outcome of the evaluation of the above mentioned molecular markers used as tool for the identification of sex in palmyra palm is presented.

Diagnosis of urinary tract infection by urinalysis, ultrasonography and quantitative urine culture 尿液分析、超声及定量尿培养诊断尿路感染

This study was conducted to diagnose urinary tract infection from the dogs presented to the Veterinary College Hospital during the period of 6 months by urinalysis, ultrasonography and cultural examination and to determine the antimicrobial resistance profile of the urine samples. 72 dogs were presented to Veterinary College Hospital, Bengaluru with clinical sign suggestive of UTI among that 65 urine samples having more than 103 cfu/ml on quantitative urine culture were considered for study. Urinalysis and sonographic changes were evaluated. Urine culture was carried out to isolate bacteria from urine samples and to know quantitative bacterial count in the sample. Increased frequency of urination, straining while passing urine, hematuria and oliguria were the common signs observed in dogs. Change in the colour, turbidity, proteinuria, pyuria, haematuria and bacteriuria were noticed on urine analysis. Thickening of the bladder (> 3 mm), hyperechoic calculi in lumen and sludge in the lumen were noticed in ultrasonography.

Evaluation of mustard oil emulsion against root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, and wilt fungus Fusarium oxysporum 芥菜油乳剂对根结线虫、黑穗病和枯萎菌尖孢镰刀菌的防治效果评价

Mustard oil is known to exhibit activity against nematodes and pathogens due to the presence of Ally Isothiocyanate. Since the past decade, the use of plant-based pesticides is becoming more popular and a lot of research is being done worldwide on the use of plant metabolites for protecting crops against various biotic factors. In tomatoes, a disease complex involving root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, and wilt fungus, Fusarium oxysporum is known to cause severe loss in yield. This study was conducted to develop an emulsion of mustard oil and evaluate it against M. incognita and F. oxysporum. Since Mustard oil has low water solubility, it was stabilized into emulsion using surfactants (Tween 80 & Span 80). Mustard oil emulsion thus obtained was tested against the Meloidogyne incognita and Fusarium oxysporum. At 4000ppm concentration, Mustard oil emulsion caused 100% mortality of M. incognita infective juveniles and completely inhibited the hatching of nematode eggs. In the Potato Dextrose Agar medium amended with the emulsion, a clear zone of F. oxysporum growth inhibition was observed indicating the fungicidal activity of mustard oil emulsion. Based on the present study it is concluded that Mustard oil emulsion has outstanding effects against Meloidogyne incognita and Fusarium oxysporum. Additional field studies using the developed emulsion will be a step forward in precision agriculture.

Production and characterization of biomass briquettes from Bambusa bambos 竹材生物质型煤的制备与表征

Known for its versatility and fast growth, bamboo is a perennial plant. Bamboo is noted for expanding rapidly; some types may do so by several feet in a single day. A prototype hydraulic piston briquette machine was used to process the bamboo samples, which were obtained from the Forest College and Research Institute Mettupalayam, India. The briquettes were made from Bambusa bambos and had various ratios of lantana camara and sawdust. Different combinations of briquettes made of Bambusa bambos' bamboo were measured for the physico-thermochemical examination.Based on the moisture content (5.13%), ash content (4.97%), volatile matter (73.19%), fixed carbon content (16.71%), bulk density (0.342 g cm3), and gross calorific value (3913.5 kcal kg-1), the current study deduces that the briquettes made with a combination of 50:25:25 of Bambusa bambos, lantana camara, and sawdust gave better performance.

Proximate and amino acid analysis of mulberry and non-mulberry silkworm pupae 桑蚕和非桑蚕蛹的近似值和氨基酸分析

The proximate and amino acid composition of both deoiled and non deoiled pupae ‘eri' (Samia ricini) and ‘muga' (Antheraea assamensis) and mulberry silkworm (Bombyx mori) were analyzed. Investigation revealed that silkworm pupae contained protein (40%-60%), fat (4%-20%), moisture (4%-8%), fibre (3%-6%) and ash (4%-6%). Overall protein content was highest in Antheraea assamensis pupae (63.53%) followed by Samia ricini (56.15%) and Bombyx mori (55.71%). Amongst the two types of pupae, the highest protein content was found in deoiled pupae. Amino acid analysis of silkworm pupae showed 17 amino acids, including all the essential amino acids. The total essential amino acid content is higher in mulberry pupae (50.2%) compared to Muga (46.5%) and ERI pupae (44%). The result of the study concluded that nutritive value of silkworm pupae could be utilized as a supplementary protein source in human and animal nutrition.

Possible applications of certain pseudocereals within the food manufacturing sector 某些假谷物在食品制造部门的可能应用

Modern consumers exhibit a heightened interest in adopting healthier lifestyles and sound nutritional practices. While a plethora of plant species hold potential for human consumption, the prevailing risk of health-related concerns has led to a decline in the diversity of species incorporated in diets. Recent studies underscore the imperative of enhancing the nutritional quality of gluten-free cereal-based products. As global populations increase, researchers continuously explore novel food sources to enhance diets and promote improved health. Current research is notably concentrated on the exploration of alternative crops and underutilized species with versatile applications. Pseudocereals have attracted interest because of their outstanding nutritional, phenolic, and phytochemical profiles, which place them as essential components for the development of gluten-free products. Additionally, the amino acid composition and nutritional attributes, including essential amino acid index, biological value, protein efficiency ratio, and nutritional index, of pseudocereals outshine those of traditional cereals like wheat, rice, and maize. Recent investigations highlight the various health benefits offered by phenolic compounds present in pseudocereals, such as combating oxidative stress, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, anti-hypertensive effects, and cardiovascular disease prevention. Commercializing pseudocereals holds potential to address diverse health-related concerns, while the availability of appealing gluten-free products made from pseudocereals contributes to meeting nutritional requirements for individuals with celiac disease. This advancement signifies a step towards ensuring adequate nutrient intake.
