The purpose of this study was to analyze the problem solving abilities of SMP Kartika I-6 grade VIII students, who learn with problem solving strategies based on Polya steps in solving story problems. This research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subject of this study was class VIII1 student. After problem solving learning strategy are applied, given test problem solving ability in participants and the results are analyzed based on the steps of pattern.Test results raising students in three levels of problem solving skills, namely a high level of 25 %, medium 50 %, lower 25%. Based on the indicator of problem solving, it is known that the ability of students in understanding problems and arranging settlement plans is in the high category, while in implementing the completion plan it is categorized as being moderate and checking the answers back at a low level.

It is common knowledge that education is spearhead of the progress of a nation. A qualified teacher will form an intelligent generation. Faculty of Tarbiyah IAIN Bukitinggi is one of the campuses that prints graduate teachers. Therefore, pre-service teachers, especially mathematics education students (PMTK) need to be prepared the competency to become a professional teacher. One of them is by looking at their thinking process in solving geometry. The way of thinking each person different, included both man and women thinks. This research is qualitative-descriptive. The instruments used are tests and interviews. The subjects is student at grade 3th who had taken courses in mathematics learning strategies. The thinking process of him is as follows: the subject begins to receive and know the information after reading the given problem. In processing information, subject identifies the problem read and uses different ways of solving problems for each question such as guess and check strategies and simple problem-solving strategies. In storing information, subject writes down the information that is known and the way of completion on the answer sheet. The last thought process step is in recalling the information, subject re-examine what information is written simultaneously at the time the sentence is written

This paper study about the interest and the low mathematics learning outcomes of eighth grade students of SMP N 46 Sijunjung in the school year 2017/2018. The aimsof this research are to know:1) the interest of student learning taught by the STAD cooperative learning model, 2) Mathematics learning outcomes from students that taught with the STAD type cooperative model in class VIII SMP N 46 Sijunjung 2017/2018 school year. This research is an experimental research and uses quantitative research methods. The subjects of this study were all eighth grade students of SMP N 46 Sijunjung. The sample taken by purposive sampling technique. The results showed that 1) the interest in mathematics learning of students taught with STAD was categorized as good with a percentage of 84.50% and 2) the mathematics learning outcomes of students taught with the STAD type cooperative model were higher than the mathematics learning outcomes of students taught with conventional learning models. It can be seen from the acquisition of the average value of the experimental class test 81.50 and the average value of the control class test 72.25. The percentage of student learning completeness in the experimental class was 70%, while in the control class 40%. After testing the hypothesis using the t-test, obtained t count> t table (2.68> 1.68) with αi = i0.05 at the 95% confidence interval, then the decision is H0 rejected and H1 accepted.

This is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects are 3 students of class XI.1 Natural Science in Public Islamic Senior High School (MAN) 1 Padang. They are different in terms of their mathematics ability; low, medium, and high. The data are collected by documentation, test method, and deep interview method. The data analyzed were the data of mathematical literacy skills test result and interview result. Mathematical literacy skills analysis by using PISA indicator revealed that student with low mathematics ability (S1) is at level 2 of mathematical literacy skills, Student with medium mathematics ability (S2) is at level 3 of mathematical literacy skills. This is due to the student ability to fulfill all indicators of questions at level 1, 2, and 3. Next, the student with a high mathematics ability (S3) is at level 5 of mathematical literacy skills since the student is able to fulfill the literacy indicator at level 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. However, at level 6, S3 find it difficult to analyze the questions.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of constructive play and visual-spatial intelligence on early mathematical abilities. The approach used is quantitative through an experimental method with 2x2 treatment by level design. This research was conducted on children in kindergarten group B in the city of Padang. The sampling technique uses Stratified cluster random sampling. The number of samples in this study were 40 children. Data collection in this study used an initial mathematical ability test and a spatial visual intelligence test. The data analysis technique in this study used two-way ANOVA to see the main effects and interactions, then using the Tukey test to see simple effects. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Early mathematical abilities provided with constructive games Lego have a higher influence than constructive games Beams (Fhitung= 5,16 > Ftabe (α=0,05)= 4,04). 2) There is an interaction between constructive play and spatial visual intelligence, in general it has a significant effect on the early math skills of kindergarten children in group B (Fhitung = 13,34 > Ftabel (α=0,05) = 4,04). 3) Early mathematical abilities that have high spatial visual intelligence with given constructive games Lego are higher than the initial mathematical abilities with constructive games (Qhitung = 4,24 > Qtabel (α=0,05) = 3,15). 4) Early mathematical abilities that have low spatial visual intelligence with given constructive games Beams have a higher value than the initial mathematical abilities given by constructive games Lego (Qhitung = -2,30 > Qtabel (α=0,05) = -3,15).

The student's absorption of learning material is one of the factors that can influence the efforts of students to achieve learning outcomes. Absorption can be a benchmark for knowing how far a student understands learning material. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the level of absorptive ability of the UIN Imam Bonjol Padang Tarbiyah Faculty of Mathematics Tadris Study Program at the transformation geometry subject. The study uses statistical estimation, namely the ability of the absorption of students in the transformation geometry subject to the lowest or equal to 75% of the maximum value. The data analysis of the research was carried out manually by using the parametric statistical test formula to find out the truth of the statement or the hypothesis that had been hypothesized. In this study z-test one sample in one direction left side. In addition, hypothesis testing is also carried out using the help of SPSS applications. The results show that and. This means that Ho is accepted. Thus it can be seen that the ability of student absorption in the transformation geometry subject is the lowest or equal to 75% of the maximum value. In other words, the average absorption of students towards transformation geometry courses is more than or equal to 75. So it can be concluded that the absorption of students in the geometry subject of transformation is quite good. Keywords: student absorption, transformation geometry
