The paper presents the first detailed evidence for the Permian and Early Triassic ichnofossils of the Southern Verkhoyansk Region. The possibility of using ichnofossils for reconstruction of terrigenous sedimentation at high latitudes, including environments related to the events of the great Permian mass extinction, was discussed. The results obtained are based on ichnofacial and ichnotextural analyses of about 600 samples collected in 2019 from the Tiryakh-Kobyuma section. We found that the Permian and Triassic sediments of the studied section contain numerous icnofossils attributed to 11 ichnogenera. Four ichnoassemblages were identified. They were referred to two ichnofacies – Zoophycos and Skolithos. The Zoophycos ichnofacies includes two ichnoassemblages: Helmintopsis – Phycosiphon – Zoophyco s and the depleted Helmintopsis – Phycosiphon ichnoassemblages. This ichnofacies is confined to well-sorted substrates formed in calm temperately deep-water shelf environments, below the level of storm waves, with reduced oxygen content. The Skolithos ichnofacies includes two ichnoassemblages: Arenicolites – Skolithos and Diplocraterion – Arenicolites . It is characteristic of coastal environments with active hydrodynamics and large inputs of clastic and organic matter. The ichnofacies alternate across the section, reflecting sedimentological changing during the accumulation. The sediments of the lower part of the Nekuchan Formation, corresponding to the Permian mass extinction event, accumulated in calm conditions of a relatively deep shelf. This interval is characterized by the Zoophycos ichnofacies with a depleted Helmin topsis – Phycosiphon ichnoassemblage. The depletion of ichnoassemblage and absence of benthic fossils in this part of the section may be caused by anoxic conditions at the basin bottom. The reconstruction of the Permian and Early Triassic environments agrees well with the results of previous studies based on sedimentological and biofacies data.

role of differences in trematode invasion of male and female viviparids (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Viviparidae) of Central Polesia in of Abstract Trematode invasion of Viviparus viviparus (Lnné, 1758) and V. contectus (Millet, 1813) populations from the region of Central Polesia (Ukraine) was analyzed. It was revealed that the total rates of trematode (parthenitae and larvae) infection in the viviparid populations under study differ between males and females. Age-related differences were also found: the trematode prevalence was higher in younger female and older male viviparids. It was suggested that differences in the infection rates of male and female molluscs by trematodes is a way to effectively control the parasite–host interaction at the population level in order to hold up the stability of host reproduction. The obtained results demonstrate that the viviparid populations maintain a high reproduction level, because trematodes infect such age and gender groups that are least important in the reproduction process.

The structure of inflammasomes, history of their discovery, and their potential use as therapeutic targets were discussed. Inflammasomes represent cytosolic polyprotein complexes that are formed in response to various external and internal stimuli, including viral and bacterial infections. The main products of inflammasomes are pro-inflammatory cytokines: interleukin-1-beta (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18). Both cytokines are formed through proteolytic cleavage by active caspase-1. Caspase-1 activation leads to a special form of cell death called pyroptosis. Depending on external stimuli (bacterial, viral infections, cell damage, changes in ion concentration), various types of inflammasomes are activated. The possibilities of using caspase-1 inhibitors and other drugs in medicine were described.

One of the major problems that archaeology faces today is that the traditional (“manual”) methods of archaeological field data classification and archiving fail to meet the modern requirements in the context of accuracy and convenience. In this study, we assessed the utility of standard photogrammetry for creating excavation plans, as well as developed and tested new methods. All works were performed at the excavation sites of Bolghar, an ancient town in Tatarstan (Russia). The excavations varied in size and depth. The standard methods were found to often yield improper results for the following reasons: in useful if high-precision geodetic equipment is unavailable. Orthophotomaps are less precise than GNSS-based plans, but much more accurate than manual sketches. The results obtained during this study are important for the development of field archaeology. The recommendations given in this paper can be used by archaeologists in their daily work. Compliance with these recommendations guarantees high-precision excavation plans. It is expected that the proposed method-ology will become the basis for instructions on arrangement of archaeological excavations in the very near future.

The sodium-dependent phosphate cotransporter NaPi2b encoded by the SLC34A2 gene is a trans-membrane protein that belongs to the family of phosphate transporters SLC34 and is involved in main-taining phosphate homeostasis in the human body. The phosphate transporter NaPi2b is expressed in several normal tissues and body organs, as well as in malignant neoplasms of the ovary, lung, colorectal, and other types of cancer. The membrane protein NaPi2b is a target for therapeutic humanized antibodies Rebmab200, XMT-1535, and XMT-1536 in cancer cells. These antibodies were created based on MX35 antibodies and are directed against the large extracellular domain of the transporter NaPi2b. Since the location of the N-terminal domain of NaPi2b in the cell has not been experimentally confirmed, this work aimed to analyze the recognition of the phosphate transporter NaPi2b in ovarian cancer cells OVCAR-4 and OVCAR-8 by antibodies against the N-terminal domain of the transporter using Western blot analysis and confocal microscopy.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has a low survival rate, with metastasis contributing to the vast majority of deaths. Elevated expression of the protein Nedd9 (neural precursor cell expressed, developmentally down-regulated 9) has been reported in a large subset of lung cancers and other malignancies as a promotor of aggressive phenotypes and drug resistance. This study was performed to identify the mechanisms by which Nedd9 regulates invasion and metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer in the transgenic murine model. Aiming to address the research goals, we performed a set of in vivo and in vitro experiments with the help of such methods as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), immunohistochemical staining of tissues and microscopy, western blotting. We found that Nedd9 constitutive null genotype enhanced tumor growth in an inducible Kras / Trp53 model, in which Kras mutation is induced specifically in the lung tissue by inhalation of adenovirus. Pathological examination of the tissues demonstrated that Nedd9 null genotype also was associated with higher invasive capacity in vivo , including direct invasion to the heart. We carried out a set of experiments to unveil the mechanism underlying the phenotype discovered. Overall, our data support the model in which Nedd9 provides critical support for early stages of the NSCLC growth, and progression beyond this early stage in the absence of Nedd9 requires extensive intracellular protein signaling reprogramming, allowing tumor cells to acquire mesenchymal properties, such as increased mobility and invasion epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). These results are novel and have not been previously described in the literature. The biological mechanism by which Nedd9 regulates growth, invasion, and metastasis of NSCLC has been poorly investigated, and its study carries not only fundamental implication – discovery of novel mechanisms driving tumor development, but also significant practical importance: assessment of levels of Nedd9 activity in NSCLC patients can potentially serve as a biomarker of response to chemotherapy.

Conchostracans (Crustacea) from the Induan deposits of the Tiryakh-Kobyume section (southern Verkhoyansk region) were studied. We identified the following seven conchostracan species belonging to five genera: Pseudestheria Raymond, 1946; Euestheria Deperet et Mezeran, 1912; Sphaerestheria Novojilov, 1954; Lioestheria Deperet et Mezeran, 1912; Wetlugites Novojilov, 1958. Most of the previously identified species in the Tiryakh-Kobyume region (“ Pseudestheria sibirica ”, “ Ps. tumaryana ”, “ Ps. kashirtzevi ”, and “ Sphaerestheria aldanensis ”) were described in the middle of the 20th century from the basal Triassic in the western Verkhoyansk region (Balbuk section). Revision of these species with the use of modern methods of conchostracan classification is needed.
