The practices of eco-journalism in West Nusa Tenggara local media have not been sufficient in journalistic performance in favor of environmental sustainability. This study aims to describe and analyze the news construction of West Nusa Tenggara or NTB local media in reporting the Mount Rinjani ecotourism industry during 2020. The study focuses on describing the pattern of power relations between the political-economic components of the West Nusa Tenggara local media institutions in reporting the issue of the Rinjani ecotourism business developments. The method used in this research is a case study. Using media-political analysis of news construction and the dynamics of power relations, the data were analyzed. Data collection uses related news clippings and in-depth interviews. The results show that in terms of quantity, the contents of Suara NTB, Lombok Post, and Kicknewstoday.com do not make Rinjani Ecotourism be the central issue in daily news headlines. Meanwhile, on the side of the discourse aspect, West Nusa Tenggara local media tend to describe government policies about Rinjani ecotourism as they are normal. West Nusa Tenggara local media lack in providing the news with critical notes on various aspects of Rinjani's ecotourism development. In addition, the results of the political-economic analysis reveal that the West Nusa Tenggara local media structurally tend to build a synergy of power with the local government regarding the development of Rinjani ecotourism.

Music festivals are often viewed as events that attract a large number of attendees. Despite their positive economic, environmental, and policy impacts on host cities, there are always safety and security concerns at music festivals. This paper emphasises the significance of having proper safety and security, with a particular focus on Malaysian music festivals. The perspectives of government agencies were sought to acquire evidence regarding the impact of a safe and secure music festival, as the approval or rejection of music festivals is dependent on them. Previous studies have highlighted the importance of safety and security at music festivals. However, studies on the perspectives of government agencies, particularly in the context of Malaysian music festivals, are limitedly explored. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the importance of safety and security at music festivals and the repercussions of their absence. Qualitative approaches employed in this study included semi-structured interviews with government agencies such as municipal councils, police, Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (RELA), and ministries, observation at Malaysian music festivals, and document analysis. The data were then analysed using thematic analysis. The findings of the current study provide evidence of the impact of effective security and safety on the success of music festivals.

Virtual Tourism (VT) is defined as a novel concept that enables potential tourists to enjoy tourist sites without visiting them physically. Nonetheless, VT remains a novelty for Malaysian tourists. Therefore, this study intends to ascertain travellers’ adoption intentions in Virtual Tourism via the use of a Value-based Adoption Model (VAM). Travellers in Malaysia aged 21 to 39 were the analytic unit in this study. A total of 302 usable responses were obtained from an online self-administered questionnaire and analysed using Partial Least Squares-SEM in conjunction with the SmartPLS programme. Prior to proceeding to the next questions, respondents were shown a film to gauge their level of acceptance of virtual tourism. The research findings indicate that perceived benefits are more influential to perceived value than perceived sacrifices. Results showed that the components of perceived benefits, namely perceived usefulness (β = 0.341, t = 6.552) and perceived enjoyment (β = 0.341, t = 6.552), had a considerable beneficial influence on perceived value. Perceived complexity is the only component of perceived sacrifices that has a substantial negative influence on perceived value (β = -0.142, t = 2.758). In contrast, felt immersion (β = 0.059, t = 0.913), perceived expense (β = -0.020, t = 0.318), and perceived physical risk (β = -0.021, t = 0.350) were discovered to have no discernible impact on perceived value. Although the current study focused on a specific age group of clients, similar studies could be expanded in the future to include other groups with a variety of travel interests. The study’s results may aid tourism providers and marketers by indicating a direction in which they should concentrate their efforts and emphasise growing perceived benefits while minimising perceived sacrifices, because this would progressively but consistently boost profits.

Trawl boat activity is one of the activities of catching marine life to meet the needs of seafood in the market and is a very important industry because fishing activity is the first sub-sector that contributes to the increase of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, the existence of the COVID-19 pandemic has become a big challenge for the fisheries sector not only in Malaysia but also in foreign countries. Therefore, this study focuses on issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic with the activities of trawler companies among entrepreneurs, namely fishermen in Sandakan. This study was conducted to find out the perception and experience of trawler boat operators, as well as examine the adaptations taken by trawler boat operators to overcome the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on their economic viability. This study uses a qualitative approach which involves in-depth interviews with several informants who are trawler operators in Sandakan. The findings of the study show that the perception and experience shown by trawler boat operators are divided into three, namely before the pandemic, during the pandemic and after, which is in the form of experience and the results of the findings found that almost all of the study respondents gave the same perception about the impact of the pandemic on them. The second objective is the form of adaptation taken which is that there are two main forms, the first is based on past experience which is that entrepreneurs adapt to the impact of this pandemic using knowledge and past experience and prepare to face any possibility if the event occurs; and the second is with the form of practice, which is the usual steps taken to overcome the impact throughout the pandemic period. In conclusion, further research on the effectiveness of aid from the government in helping fishermen is very necessary. This is because the government aid factors are related to the form of adaptation taken by boat operators in Tanah Merah, Sandakan.

This study discusses the determination of tourist selection factors for selected service sectors when visiting Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. There are four selected service sectors that are the focus of tourists including the accommodation sector, the transport sector, the food and beverage sector and the shopping sector. In general, studies on the selection factors of tourists towards this service sector are still lacking and very limited in being studied by researchers. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of tourist selection in Kota Kinabalu. The research method used is quantitative. The respondents in this study consisted of 280 domestic tourists who visited Kota Kinabalu. The results of the study found that the most important factor influencing tourists in choosing the service sector is the price or cost factor which is the cheapest and worthwhile which is as much as 24 percent. While the service factor recorded a moderate value with 10 percent and the privacy factor recorded the lowest value with only 6 percent. This clearly shows that price or cost is the main factor influencing the choice of domestic tourists in Kota Kinabalu. The issue of increasing prices of goods at the moment has also reduced the purchasing power of households, especially involving the B40 group and some of the M40 group. This at the same time causes them to have to change their spending patterns such as choosing or using cheap goods or services because they now have to make plans before spending. Determining these factors allows stakeholders in the tourism sector to determine which packages or services are suitable for tourists, especially domestic tourists. Therefore, understanding the characteristics of tourists' selection of the service sector is important in the development of the tourism industry.
