Investigations of electrophysical properties of nematic liquid crystals (LC) based on cyanobiphenyls under the frequency of 106-1010 GHz with applied electric and magnetic static fields are presented. The obtained results are interpreted in terms of molecular models. Possibilities of LC implementation into various electronic devices are also discussed in this thesis.

On the basis of a method of statistical modeling investigations of basic mechanisms of dispersion in semiconductor heterostructures and basic characteristics of a physical process of carrier transfer in a mode with occurrence of plasma waves are carried out. Novelty consists in statistical modeling and self-co-ordinated solution of Schroedinger equation. It all allows revealing of basic physical mechanisms, determining the increase of propagation velocity of plasma waves, and defining of requirements of a choice of electrophysical parameters of heterostructures for production of oscillations in the millimetric range.

The comparison of calculation of radio attenuation in the recommendations ITU-R P.452, and ITU-R R.1546 has been carried out. In the process of analysis the differences has been revealed: the first, calculates attenuation throughout the flight path in detail, and the second, uses approximized empirical curves. It follows that the recommended guideline ITU-R P.452 is for precise calculations, and ITU-R R.1546 is for “fast”.

An analytical estimation has been performed to determine the optimal parameters of pulsed magnetrons, operating at a spatial harmonic at a frequency of 35 GHz and an anode voltage of 6.5 kV in the drift-resonance mode, with the main cathode being the cold secondary-emission one. A 3D simulation experiment on a magnetron with the analytically determined characteristics has been conducted to check its adequacy in providing the required energy parameters. The breadboard magnetrons have the number of vane-type resonators in the anode unit N = 20 and N = 16, respectively. The both magnetrons have generated the electromagnetic radiation in the Ka range with the magnetic field being slightly above 0.4 T. It was proven that it is possible to create a full-functional Ka-range magnetron with a relatively low anode voltage and such parameters that enable its wide applicability.
