The research work yielded 126 respondents from Indian software export companies located in and around Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. The thrust of the research work is to examine the impact of Indian Software organisations’ operational HR practices and procedures. The research thrust is also to explore linkage between organisational performance and enhanced social capital (SC). Three sets of questionnaires were designed on collaborative HR practices, SC and organisational performance in the five point Likert scale and were administered on the basis of field survey. The collected data were then analysed with simple regression analysis. It was found that collaborative HR configuration creates an interactive and collective culture within the organisation, nourishes organisational rationality and positively and significantly drives organisational level SC, which in turn is very well co-related with organisation bottom line

This survey-based qualitative descriptive research has been undertaken in Tirunelveli city, Tamilnadu to understand and differentiate coping strategies being followed by nurses working in both multi-speciality and single-speciality hospitals to deal with stress and to examine the relationship between demographic variables and coping strategies. The structured format of coping strategies established by Folkman and Lazarus has been used in this study to analyse and differentiate coping styles of nurses. It has been analysed under five dimensions namely positive and action focused coping, wishful thinking and positive reappraisal, distancing, escape and avoidance and seeking social support coping. The study has sampled 120 (60 from multi-speciality hospitals and 60 from single-speciality hospitals) nurses qualified with Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery and Bachelor of Science in Nursing courses. Mean, standard deviation and coefficient of variation have been used to rank and differentiate the dimensions of coping strategies. Kruskal–Wallis test has been administered to examine the relationship between coping strategies and demographic variables. The result indicates that there is no marked differences in the perception of the nurses working in both kinds of organisation towards majority of the coping strategies discussed under five dimensions of the Folkman and Lazarus coping strategies. The perception level of majority of the respondents working in both kinds of hospitals has been at medium level towards all coping strategies.

Stress is a condition of strain that has a direct bearing on emotions, thought process and physical conditions of a person. Stress can be defined as “A dynamic activity wherein an individual is confronted with an opportunity, constraint or demand”. Occupational stress has become a vital part of each and every employee’s life. Stress not only affects the physical, psychological and financial balances of an employee but also the employers as well. One of the predominant reasons for increase in occupational stress levels has been global competition and economic conditions that have caused reduction in workforce, leading to leaner organisations almost everywhere in the world. Employees are under pressure to comply with increased demands in terms of both quality and quantity. The employees suffer from burnout, stress, anxiety, low morale, depression, health problems and, in some extreme cases, even stigma associated with mental illness. Job stress could arise out of task and role ambiguity, role conflict (RC), and self-role incongruence. This paper tries to explore the occupational stress in doctors. The health care occupation have long been known to be highly stressful and associated with higher rates of psychological distress than many other occupations. The paper highlights and traces the general broad outline of the causes of stress in doctors, which was analysed through primary data collection and some urgent strategic planning needed to combat the stress levels and its effects on the health of doctors and its related consequences on their patients. It is a well-known fact that job stress now, more than ever, poses a threat to the health of workers and the health of the organisation, in this case, health of doctors and the health and well-being of the patients as well, thus increasing the concern further.
