Design methodology of large-scale thermoelectric generation: A hierarchical modeling approach in SPICE 大规模热电发电的设计方法:SPICE中的分层建模方法

A thermoelectric generation system (TEGS) consists of not only thermoelectric modules (TEMs), but also the external load circuitry and the fluidic heat sources. In this paper, a system-level model is proposed in the SPICE-compatible environment to seamlessly integrate the complete fluid-thermal-electric-circuit multiphysics behaviors. Firstly, a quasi one-dimension numerical model for the thermal fluids and their non-uniform temperature distribution as the boundary condition for TEMs is implemented in SPICE using electrothermal analogy. Secondly, the electric field calculation of the previously proposed device-level SPICE model is upgraded to reflect the resistive behaviors of thermoelements, so that the electric connections among spatially distributed TEMs and the load circuitry can be freely combined in the simulation. Thirdly, a hierarchical and TEM-object oriented strategy is developed to make the system modeling and design scalable, flexible, and programmable. To validate the proposed system model, a TEGS including 8 TEMs is constructed. Through comparisons between simulation results and experimental data, it is clear that the cooptimization of the entire TEGS is enabled by the proposed model.

Hybrid fuzzy bang-bang mode controller for electric motor drives applications 混合模糊砰砰模式控制器用于电动机驱动的应用

This paper proposes a real-time hybrid fuzzy bang-bang (BB) controller for high performance motor drives. The controller consists of a fuzzy-BB controller in parallel with BB-controller. The objective is to develop a nonlinear BB-controller using the fuzzy control paradigm for position control of electric motor drives to achieve an improved motor behavior. In order to combine the advantages of fuzzy-BB and BB-based controllers, a hybrid fuzzy-BB controller is proposed in which the output can either be the outputs of the two, i.e. the fuzzy-BB or BB units being switched as per the absolute error signal. The principle of the proposed control strategy is that to use a BB controller, which performs satisfactory in most cases, while keeping in the background a fuzzy-BB controller, which, is ready to take over the BB-controller when changes such as overshoot and oscillations occur in the drive system. Here, the selection between the fuzzy-BB and the BB-controllers is based on a set of simple rules; oscillations have to be detected by the absolute error. The hybrid fuzzy-BB controller has been implemented on hardware with dSPACE DSP processor, and it is observed that the performance of the controlled BLDC motor drive with the hybrid fuzzy-BB controller is very promising. The results clearly demonstrate that the hybrid fuzzy-BB controller is capable of significantly improving the motor performance under random disturbance and different loading conditions.

“Dead” circuits are not always dead “死”电路并不总是死的

Some work activities in electrical installations are sensitive to unexpected sources, especially when working on conductors to be broken or joined or on overhead lines. Generally there is uncertainty about existence, gravity level, risk or seriousness of exposure to the unexpected sources. The possibility of unexpected electrical energy, the need for additional protective measures and its resolution frequently are decisions made under pressure in the field, entrusted to the person performing the work. The authors submit that methods to detect unexpected energy sources, together with guidelines for addressing such situations, can and should be developed for incorporation into safety procedures. The authors also indicate approaches to system design that can reduce exposure to unexpected power sources.

A third-order sliding-mode controller for DC/DC converters with constant power loads 恒功率负载DC/DC变换器的三阶滑模控制器

Incorporating a medium-voltage DC (MVDC) integrated power system is a goal for future surface combatants and submarines. In a MVDC shipboard power system, DC/DC converters are commonly employed to supply constant power to electric loads. These constant-power loads have a characteristic of negative incremental impedance, which may cause system instability during disturbances if the system is not properly controlled. This paper proposes a third-order sliding-mode controller (SMC) for DC/DC buck converters with constant-power loads. The SMC is able to stabilize the DC power systems over the entire operating range in the presence of significant variations in the load power and input voltage. The proposed SMC is validated by simulation studies in MATLAB/Simulink for stabilizing a DC/DC buck converter as well as a MVDC shipboard power system with constant-power loads for different operating conditions with significant variations in the load power and supply voltage.

Thrust origin in EHD lifters EHD升降机的推力来源

This paper1 presents the results of the analytical and experimental studies of thrust origin in electrohydrodynamic lifters. It was found that the thrust is the reactive force to the force driving the EHD flow when the electric corona discharge takes place. The results of the experiments confirmed that the thrust is mainly applied on the ground electrode and the net force on the corona wire is negative. The configuration of the lifter affects the thrust but simply increasing the number of corona wires won't increase the thrust.

Localized fire ignition hazard in branch circuits, cords and connected equipment 分支电路、电线和连接设备的局部着火危险

In electrical power systems, the fire ignition can be originated by incident energy of faults. Faults involve overheating, arcing and burning for all the wiring exposed to mechanical damage and other insulation stresses especially wiring connected by flexible cords and cables. The mechanical damage of the stranded bare conductors can degrade the effective sizing of the total cross section, causing anomalous conditions of local overcurrent.

Performance improvement of mining haul trucks operating on trolley systems 在无轨电车系统上运行的矿用运输卡车的性能改进

A typical mining facility uses off-road mining trucks to haul materials, such as coal, ore, and overburden from the pit to a stockpile where the material can be stored or processed. A conventional haul truck operates with diesel engine, adding considerable fuel expenses to the entire mining operation. The objective of the mines is to achieve the movement of the highest possible payload per hour while minimizing operating costs over the lifetime of the machines. Operating the trucks with power from the overhead trolley lines, especially while going up on a grade significantly increases productivity, reduces fuel costs and qualifies as a green solution. One of the major concerns of using trolley system is the availability of the trolley line, which affects the productivity directly since one or more trucks rely on the trolley line. The possible fault influencing the availability comes from the various operating parameters of the truck as well as the design of the trolley system. Whenever a fault occurs, it is desirable to isolate this truck for maintenance without affecting the substations and the other trucks on the same line. This paper presents the performance improvement of the trolley assisted haul trucks and their solutions through simulation study and field experimental results.

Transient responses of switching mode power supplies under a lightning surge 雷电浪涌作用下开关电源的瞬态响应

This paper discusses the transient responses of switching mode power supplies (SMPS) under a lightning surge. These devices are normally used in fluorescent lighting, personal computers and other appliances. In this paper the circuit models of switching mode power supplies are developed by taking into account both the nonlinearity and the parasitic effect of SMPS components. These models are verified experimentally by comparing the surge current in the devices under a voltage surge. It is found that the surge current primarily arises from capacitor charging caused by the surge voltage. These devices can be then represented simply by capacitor-charging circuits in the analysis of lightning surges, particularly for the discussion of load effect. It is noted that the currents under common-mode and differential-mode surges are significantly different in magnitude and waveform. It is also noted that the supply circuit could have a significant effect on the surge current if the circuit impedance is comparable to the choke impedance.

In this paper the circuit models of switching mode power supplies are developed by taking into account both the nonlinearity and the parasitic effect of SMPS components. These models are verified experimentally by comparing the surge current in the devices under a voltage surge. It is found that the surge current primarily arises from capacitor charging caused by the surge voltage. These devices can be then represented simply by capacitor-charging circuits in the analysis of lightning surges, particularly for the discussion of load effect. It is noted that the currents under common-mode and differential-mode surges are significantly different in magnitude and waveform. Modified flyback for HID supply: Design, modeling and control 改进的HID电源反激:设计,建模和控制

This paper presents a ballast for driving high intensity discharge (HID) lamps with low frequency square waveform from a dc supply, with expansion for integrated PFC (buck-boost converter). From the dc source (battery or PFC rail), a flyback arrangement is inserted into a switching structure whose output provides low frequency voltage yet avoiding instability issues. Proposal's main advantage is the need for reduced chokes count and two active switches only. Converter design for DCM is presented in this work, besides an equivalent circuit from a control point of view. Small signal ac model is obtained and feedback control loop designed based upon frequency response. HID dynamics is inserted into converter model, with feedback directly implemented. For design conformity, experimental and simulation results from Matlab and PSIM are presented, as well as discussions about its feasibility.

Predicting mechanical properties of cold- rolled low carbon steel based on magnetic parameter measurement using ANFIS model 基于磁参数测量的冷轧低碳钢力学性能ANFIS模型预测

In this paper, a novel method for predicting mechanical properties of cold- rolled low carbon steel based on magnetic parameter measurement using Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is presented. The Yield Stress (YS) and Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) are predicted using two ANFIS models on the basis of B-H curve parameter measurement. B-H curve parameter measurement is carried out using a measurement system specially developed for this project. Using this system, remanence (Br), coercive force (Hc), harmonic components of the field intensity, and flux density are extracted and used as input parameters of the ANFIS models. The individual influence of different input parameters is evaluated and compared with metallurgical test results. The ANFIS models show good performance and the results are in agreement with the experimental data. The developed models can be used as an on-line, non-destructive evaluation technique in steel mill factories.
