Improved user mobility management scheme for supporting fast data transmission 改进用户移动性管理方案,支持快速数据传输

This paper proposes an IP-based mobility management scheme supporting session continuity in user mobility and delivering packets without any encapsulation. The proposed scheme uses mapping relationship between User Identifier and Terminal Identifier. Also, it performs address translation which changes the destination address of IP packets in each communicating node for fast packet delivery.

MOE-A framework integrating network performance monitoring, optimization and evaluation moe -一个集成网络性能监测、优化和评估的框架

Due to network dynamics, performance tuning is often indispensable in network management. In this paper, we propose MOE, a framework integrating network performance monitoring, optimization and evaluation. This is a trial towards the top-down and systematic management of network performance. We validate MOE based on a typical scenario in the real network environment. Results show that MOE can collect many kinds of network information, based on which it could conduct performance tuning automatically. In addition, MOE has the ability of evaluating the effect during and after performance tuning. Evaluation results are further analyzed and could fed back to provide positive advices to minimize the influence caused by network adjustments and maximize the performance profits.

We add flexibility to the authorization with Shibboleth by featuring a system managing additional attributes. The system offers an interface and a database to privileged administrators. When any temporary groups or projects are created, a proper set of users are assigned to them without modifying the IdP backends.

Automatic detection of vulnerabilities for advanced security analytics 为高级安全分析自动检测漏洞

The detection of vulnerabilities in computer systems and computer networks as well as the weakness analysis are crucial problems. The presented method tackles the problem with an automated detection. For identifying vulnerabilities the approach uses a logical representation of preconditions and postconditions of vulnerabilities. The conditional structure simulates requirements and impacts of each vulnerability. Thus an automated analytical function could detect security leaks on a target system based on this logical format. With this method it is possible to scan a system without much expertise, since the automated or computer-aided vulnerability detection does not require special knowledge about the target system. The gathered information is used to provide security advisories and enhanced diagnostics which could also detect attacks that exploit multiple vulnerabilities of the system.

Adaptive multipath routing for large-scale layered networks 大规模分层网络的自适应多径路由

Network virtualization technologies enable multiple virtual networks to be laid over common physical networks and provide application or service-oriented networking functionalities in each virtual network. Since virtual networks share and compete for physical network resources, cooperation between virtual networks is necessary to accomplish the system-level optimization. Furthermore, system-wide adaptation is required to react to dynamically changing traffic conditions which cannot be controlled nor predicted by each virtual network. In this paper we propose an adaptive multipath routing mechanism with which globally suboptimal control can be accomplished. For this purpose, we adopt a bio-inspired algorithm, more specifically, an attractor selection model which is a nonlinear mathematical model of biological adaptation. We consider layered network architecture where a virtual network consists of virtual nodes and links which are generated by virtualizing physical domain networks and physical links. In our proposal each of physical and virtual nodes adaptively selects one of pre-established paths in accordance with dynamically changing network conditions. For cooperative routing decisions, we introduce a mechanism for routing controls operating at different virtual networks to share optimization objectives. With such loose inter-network coupling, our proposal is superior to existing control from viewpoints of adaptability and stability.

Single-sided quality measuring method for Giga Internet 千兆互联网单面质量测量方法

This paper deals with a method to measure the quality of Giga Internet service. The existing method needs both remote servers and a client application when measuring Internet quality such as throughput(speed), delay and loss. On the other hand, the proposed method only needs a single-sided application which is installed in a personal computer(PC). The key technique is to use traffic loopback algorithm which enables the sent packets at PC to return to it via gateway equipment like L3 switch. Using this method, network providers could not only measure the quality of Giga Internet service in access network more accurately than the existing server-client method, but also reduce the cost of new measurement servers for Giga Internet service.

Semantic resource classification using statistical analysis for application characteristics in intercloud environment 基于统计分析的云间应用特征语义资源分类

Scientists gain benefits from scalable resource provisioning on-demand, and various computing environments by using cloud computing resources for their applications. However, many cloud computing providers offer their cloud resources according to their own rules. The descriptions of various cloud resources also differ for each vendor. Subsequently, it becomes difficult to find suitable cloud resources given the characteristics of an application. Scientists therefore, select resources used in previous experiments or best performance resources without considering the characteristics of their applications. There is the need to standardize notations to support simple selection of cloud resources without the constraints of providers. Intercloud can use cloud resources without considering cloud providers in hybrid cloud environments. Intercloud project has been studied for interoperability and creates mOSAIC ontology to conceptualize various resources. However, the mOSAIC ontology attributes are limited when considering characteristics of an application. We propose a semantic engine to provide semantic cloud resource services in intercloud environment. We define a rule of categorized resource description with reference to mOSAIC ontology attributes which includes added factors needed to represent application characteristics. We also develop a semantic engine which can choose semantically similar cloud resources using statistical analysis while considering the characteristics of an application. The semantic engine can also classify resources dynamically according to application specifications.

Virtualized traffic monitoring function and resource auto-scaling in software-defined networks 软件定义网络中的虚拟化流量监控和资源自扩展功能

Traffic monitoring is the essential capability for large-scale enterprises, data centers, service providers, and network operators to ensure reliability, availability, fault assurance, and security of their underlying network resources. Currently, most monitoring solutions are standalone dedicated ones. Major drawbacks of these dedicated standalone appliances per-feature are high-cost, lack of flexibility, slow install time and difficulty of maintenance. Network Function Virtualization (NFV) provides an attractive alternative to cope with such limitations by controlling both CAPEX and OPEX. Network traffic monitoring function virtualization brings not only CAPEX/OPEX advantages but also introduces some challenges such as ensuring scalability and performance of single or distributed multiple virtual monitoring functions, utilization of virtual functions, and flexibility and easiness of virtual functions lifecycle management. To address such challenges, we propose a novel architecture and proof-of-concept implementation of a software-defined Virtual TrAffic Monitoring function with resource Auto-Scaling capability built over a multi-core whitebox server (VTAMAS) in this paper. It virtualizes monitoring functions with the capability of auto-scaling resource of virtual functions for efficient resource utilization especially.

Currently, most monitoring solutions are standalone dedicated ones. Major drawbacks of these dedicated standalone appliances per-feature are high-cost, lack of flexibility, slow install time and difficulty of maintenance. Network Function Virtualization (NFV) provides an attractive alternative to cope with such limitations by controlling both CAPEX and OPEX. Network traffic monitoring function virtualization brings not only CAPEX/OPEX advantages but also introduces some challenges such as ensuring scalability and performance of single or distributed multiple virtual monitoring functions, utilization of virtual functions, and flexibility and easiness of virtual functions lifecycle management. To address such challenges, we propose a novel architecture and proof-of-concept implementation of a software-defined Virtual TrAffic Monitoring function with resource Auto-Scaling capability built over a multi-core whitebox server (VTAMAS) in this paper. A light-weight application monitoring and statistical debugging for a black-box application 用于黑盒应用程序的轻量级应用程序监视和统计调试

ICT systems have to be continuously maintained and revised because they have to catch up with business trend. For the continuous maintenance and revision, an operator team must share with an application development team the status of running application programs so that the development can revise the application programs. However, the internal behavior of application programs is a black box to the operator team, and it is difficult to monitor the internal behavior of the running application program. As a result, it takes time for the AP development team to get to know the running situation of the application program, and it results in a long revision period. In this paper, we introduce a prototype of an application monitoring system, which enables the operator team to monitor the method calls in Java application programs. It can also localize a failure method with statistical debugging. We implemented a prototype, and show the usefulness of the method.

Detecting network neutrality violations through packet loss statistics 通过丢包统计发现违反网络中立性的行为

Network Neutrality states that users should have equal access to all Internet content and that Internet Service Providers (ISP) should not unfairly block or degrade access to any site. The Network Neutrality controversy has been in the spotlight for several years due to political, economic, social, and technical implications. While proponents argue that enforcing Network Neutrality by law is important to preserve the openness of the Internet and boost innovation, the opponents counter this argument by stating that such rules provide disincentives for the ISPs to invest in their network. Among the various issues related to Network Neutrality, we focus on the issue of detecting whether or not an ISP is Network Neutral (or Content Provider neutral). We propose a methodology for monitoring ISPs to ensure compliance. We monitor the packet loss statistics and determine if the rate adaptation in case of streaming media is being influenced by throttling at the ISP, and support our proposal through simulations.
