PANDANGAN HIDUP WANITA JAWA DALAM NOVEL MIDAH SI MANIS BERGIGI EMAS KARYA PRAMOEDYA ANANTA TOER

This study aims to describe a Javanese woman's view of life which consists of (1) human relationship with God, (2) relationship with fellow human beings, and (3) relationship with oneself. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, the approach used in this study is the sociology of literature. The source of the research data is the novel ‘Midah si Manis Bergigi Emas’ by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. The data in this study are in the form of story units and quotes in the novel that show the Javanese women's view of life. Data collection techniques are (a) read carefully and repeatedly, (b) identify, (c) record or code, (d) check or select, and (e) enter data. According to Miles and Huberman, the data analysis used in this study includes (a) data reduction, (b) data presentation, (c) conclusion drawing. The results of the study show (1) human relationships with God include eling (remember), pracaya (believe), mituhu (obedient or obedient to Him), (2) human relationships with fellow humans include wedi (fear), isin (shame), and shy (polite respect for superiors or strangers), and (3) human relations with oneself such as nerimo (accepting).   Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pandangan hidup wanita Jawa yang terdiri dari (1) hubungan manusia dengan Tuhan, (2) hubungan dengan sesama manusia, dan (3) hubungan dengan diri sendiri. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah sosiologi sastra. Sumber data penelitian berupa novel Midah si Manis Bergigi Emas karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer. Data dalam penelitian berupa satuan cerita dan kutipan-kutipan dalam novel yang menunjukkan pandangan hidup wanita Jawa. Teknik pengumpulan data, yaitu (a) membaca secara cermat dan berulang-ulang, (b) mengidentifikasi, (c) mencatat atau memberi kode, (d) memeriksa atau menyeleksi, dan (e) memasukan data. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menurut Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi (a) reduksi data, (b) penyajian data, (c) penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menujukkan (1) hubungan manusia dengan Tuhan meliputi eling (ingat), pracaya (percaya), mituhu (patuh atau taat kepada-Nya), (2) hubungan manusia dengan sesama manusia meliputi wedi (takut), isin (malu), dan sungkan (rasa hormat yang sopan terhadap atasan atau sesama yang belum dikenal), dan (3) hubungan manusia dengan diri sendiri seperti nerimo (menerima).

PENGGUNAAN METODE KONVENSIONAL DAN METODE AUDIO VISUAL DALAM PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA KEDUA BAGI ANAK DWI KEWARGANEGARAAN 用于儿童双重语言学习的传统方法和视觉方法

The development of foreign language learning in Indonesia in the millennial era nowadays requires the child to speak at least two foreign languages fluently. As in the case that the researcher founded which is a dual citizenship 10 years old child studying French as his third language. The study then focuses on 1) what third language learning’s steps for a 10 years old goes through, 2) at which stage each method is properly used, and 3) what factors influence that success. The data of this research is processed quantitatively and qualitatively. This study uses Skinner’s behaviorism theory, conventional reading and audio visual learning methods. The researcher found that the two methods complement to each other in the third language learning for dual citizenship Abstrak Perkembangan pembelajaran bahasa asing di Indonesia pada era milenial sekarang menuntut anak dapat menguasai minimal dua bahasa asing. Kasus yang ditemukan oleh peneliti yaitu seorang anak berusia 10 tahun dengan dwi kewarganegaraan yang mempelajari bahasa Prancis sebagai bahasa kedua. Penelitian ini kemudian fokus menjawab 1) tahapan pembelajaran bahasa kedua apa saja yang dilalui anak usia 10 tahun, 2) pada tahapan yang mana setiap metode itu tepat digunakan, dan 3) faktor-faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan itu. Data penelitian ini diolah dengan metode kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori behaviorisme Skinner, metode pembelajaran konvensional membaca dan audio visual. Peneliti menemukan bahwa kedua metode tersebut saling melengkapi dalam pembelajaran bahasa kedua bagi anak dwi kewarganegaraan

THE CAPACITY OF PRAGMATICS IN ESL TEACHING OF ENGLISH STUDENTS IN BULELENG REGENCY 语用学能力在英语教学中的应用

This study is focused on the capacities of pragmatics in ESL teaching and limited to three essential discussions; first, the investigation of teaching pragmatics relevancy stated on pragmatics elements, second, the presentation of the effective ways in teaching pragmatics by applying SURE steps (Brock and Nagaska, 2005), and the elaboration of pragmatics effects towards ESL learners. It is necessary to conduct a research of pragmatics capacities in ESL teaching. Due to the problems discussed, the theories suggested in this research include pragmatics definition, pragmatic competence, pragmatic elements and SURE method. Then, the method applied in this research is descriptive qualitative in nature and the data are from the 3rd semester of STKIP Agama Hindu Singaraja students. The data analysis is performed to investigate the relevancy of pragmatics in ESL teaching, the pragmatics teaching methods, and the effect of pragmatics towards ESL learners. This study finds pragmatics is a relevant point to be taught in the language classroom due to language is an arbitrary. Through SURE methods, students are expected to comprehend the language used in contexts. Pragmatics affects the ESL learners to be sensitive about the surroundings, other cultural interactions, also how they must behave towards circumstances as ESL learners.   Abstrak  Penelitian ini difokuskan pada kapasitas pragmatik dalam pengajaran ESL dan dibatasi pada tiga diskusi esensial; pertama, investigasi relevansi pengajaran pragmatik yang tertuang pada unsur-unsur pragmatik, kedua, penyajian cara efektif dalam pembelajaran pragmatik dengan menerapkan metode SURE (Brock dan Nagaska, 2005), dan penjabaran efek pragmatik terhadap peserta didik ESL. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan penelitian tentang kapasitas pragmatik dalam pengajaran ESL. Berdasarkan permasalahan yang dibahas, maka teori yang disarankan dalam penelitian ini meliputi pengertian pragmatik, kompetensi pragmatis, unsur pragmatis dan metode SURE. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan data dari mahasiswa-mahasiswa STKIP Agama Hindu Singaraja semester 3. Analisis data dilakukan untuk mengetahui relevansi pragmatik dalam pembelajaran ESL, metode pembelajaran pragmatik, dan pengaruh pragmatik terhadap peserta didik ESL. Studi ini menemukan bahwa pragmatik adalah poin yang relevan untuk diajarkan di kelas bahasa karena bahasa bersifat sewenang-wenang. Melalui metode SURE, mahasiswa diharapkan memahami bahasa yang digunakan dalam konteks. Pragmatik mempengaruhi mahasiswa ESL untuk peka terhadap lingkungan sekitar, interaksi budaya lainnya, juga bagaimana mereka harus berperilaku terhadap keadaan sebagai peserta didik ESL.

FENOMENA PENGGUNAAN CAMPUR KODE PADA LIRIK LAGU BAHASA JEPANG 日本歌曲歌词中混合代码的使用现象

Penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai campur kode. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan bentuk campur kode dan latar belakang penggunaan campur kode pada lirik lagu bahasa Jepang. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik simak catat. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode padan dan teknik pilah unsur penentu. Sumber data penelitian ini berupa 15 lirik lagu, dari lirik lagu tersebut ditemukan 35 data. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 6 bentuk campur kode dan 2 latar belakang penggunaan campur kode. Bentuk campur kode berupa kata sebanyak 9, 9 klausa, 8 frasa, 7 idiom, dan ada 1perulangan kata serta 1 bentuk campur kode berupa baster. The analysis of musical discourse analysis come from many ways and one of them is in song lyrics. Meanwhile, cohesion is a semantic relation which has a correlation between one component to another in the text.  Lexical cohesion reached by selecting the vocabulary. There is one research problem in this study, what types of lexical cohesion are used in Demi Lovato’s song lyric in tell me you love me and the functions of Lexical Cohesion used. The study uses qualitative approach and uses Demi Lovato’s song lyric in tell me you love me. In conducting the study, the writers uses Halliday & Hasan (1976) theory of lexical cohesion which focuses on lexical reiteration (repetition, synonym/near-synonym, superordinate and general word). The result of the study shows types of lexical cohesion which is reiteration (repetition, synonym-near synonym, general word) only superordinates are missing. Therefore, the function of lexical cohesion in the lyrics of Demi Lovato’s song is to emphasize, to illustrate, to strengthen the message, and to give  contribution to the two words that the meaning are connected to each other and make the song delivered clearly.

TINDAK TUTUR ILOKUSI DALAM UJARAN ENG TAY DALAM GEGURITAN ‘SAMPIK TONG NAWANG NATAH’ ILOKUSI在gegurk ' SAMPIK TONG NAWANG NATAH的演讲

This study aims at finding out the types of illocutionary act and explaining the meaning of utterances found in Balinese traditional literary work named geguritan entitled ‘Sampik tong Nawang Natah’. The method in collecting the data was observation method by reading the script of geguritan Sampik tong nawang Natah and note taking the lyrics which have the illocutionary act spoken by one of the main characters ‘Eng Tay’. The analysis was done by applying the theory of speech act by Searle (1969) related to the types of illocutionary act. This study found that Eng Tay used assertive, directive, commissive and expressive illocutionary act. This study also shows the misinterpretation of the utterance which exists in the utterances spoken by Eng Tay has made fatal result. Sampik was fault to catch the meaning therefore he couldn’t able to marry Eng Tay. Geguritan Sampik has shown how ambiguities can make problem in communication. This study also shows the   important of pragmatics in relation to understand the speakers meaning, the listeners have to be able to interpret the meaning of utterances based on the context.. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis tindak tutur ilokusi dan menjelaskan tentang makna tuturan yang diujarkan oleh Eng Tay dalam karya sastra tradisional Bali yaitu geguritan berjudul Sampik tong Nawang Natah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi atau metode simak dengan membaca naskah geguritan dan juga mencatat tuturan yang diujarkan oleh karakter utama yaitu Eng Tay. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menerapkan teori speech act oleh Searle (1969) berkaitan dengan tipe tindak tutur ilokusi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Eng Tay mengujarkan tindak tutur ilokusi tipe asertif, direktif, komisif dan ekspresif. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bagaimana kesalahan interpretasi terhadap makna tuturan telah mengakibatkan hal yang buruk. Sampik gagal memaknai tuturan Eng Tay sehingga dia tidak bisa menikah dengan Eng Tay. Geguritan Sampik juga menunjukan bagaimana ambiguitas makna memunculkan permasalahan dalam komunikasi. Penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa memahami makna pragmatic sebuah tuturan sangatlah penting, penyimak harus mampu menginterpretasi makna berdasarkan konteks.

MAKNA DAN PENGGUNAAN VERBA ‘MEMBANTU’ DALAM BAHASA JEPANG SEHARI-HARI: TINJAUAN SEMANTIK 日常日语中“帮助”动词的含义和用法:语义概述

Japanese is a foreign language that has many variations of the lexicon. One of them is the lexicon variation in verbs. This study discusses the meaning and use of verb 'help' in everyday Japanese conversation. The data is in the form of sentences used by native Japanese speakers. Data collection was carried out through interviews and note taking techniques. The data were analyzed using the contextual meaning theory approach of Pateda, (2010 : 116). The result shows that there are eight variations of the verb 'help' in Japanese namely: tetsudau, tasukeru, osewa ni naru, sukuu, kyuujo suru, enjo suru, kifu suru, and ouen suru. From the analysis, the verb "tetsudau" means helping someone to complete an activity that has not been completed. The verb 'tasukeru, sukuu and kyuujo suru' means to help or save someone who is experiencing difficulty or danger. Then, the verb 'osewa ni naru' means to help someone by providing guidance, kindness or facilities. The verb 'enjo suru' means to help by making things easier. The verb "ouen suru" means to help by providing support or encouragement. And finally, the verb "kifu suru" means to help someone by giving something in the form of an object (money). Abstrak Bahasa Jepang merupakan salah satu bahasa asing yang mempunyai banyak variasi leksikon. Salah satunya adalah variasi leksikon dalam verba. Dalam jurnal ini membahas mengenai makna dan penggunaan verba 'membantu' dalam percakapan bahasa Jepang sehari-hari. Data dalam jurnal ini berupa kalimat-kalimat yang digunakan oleh penutur asli bahasa Jepang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara dan teknik catat. Data dianalisis dengan pendekatan teori makna kontekstual Pateda, (2010:116). Dari data yang telah ditemukan, verba ‘membantu’ dalam bahasa Jepang ada delapan variasi, yaitu: tetsudau, tasukeru, osewa ni naru, sukuu, kyuujo suru, enjo suru, kifu suru, dan ouen suru. Dari hasil analisis, verba ‘tetsudau’ bermakna membantu seseorang untuk menyelesaikan sesuatu aktivitas yang belum selesai. Verba ‘tasukeru, sukuu dan kyuujo suru’ bermakna menolong atau menyelamatkan seseorang yang sedang mengalami kesulitan atau bahaya. Kemudian, verba ‘osewa ni naru’ bermakna membantu seseorang dengan memberikan bimbingan, kebaikan, atau fasilitas. Verba ‘enjo suru’ bermakna membantu dengan mempermudah menyelesaikan sesuatu. PENERAPAN PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING DENGAN SIKLUS LESSON STUDY UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS ESAI ARGUMENTATIF 由莱斯森学习周期的分散性应用,以提高论据文章的写作能力

  ABSTRACT The skill to write argumentative essas as a necessity in the 21st century is crucial for students to hone their critical thinking skills. Having been designed as a classroom action research, the researcher applied Problem-Based Learning with Lesson Study cycle that answered the following two research questions: (a) Can students' argumentative essay writing skill be improved by applying Problem-Based Learning with Lesson Study cycle? And (b) How was the student's response to their implementation? The research subjects consisted of 36 students of IVA semester in English Education Study Program, Faculty of TeacherTraining and Education, Mahasaraswati Denpasar University. To collect data, test and questionnair were administered as research instruments. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitative and qualitative (interactive model). It was found that the application of Problem-Based Learning and Lesson Study was able to improve students' argumentative essay writing skill and the students gave positive response towards their application for the improvement of learning. 在21世纪,写作议论文对于培养学生的批判性思维能力至关重要。作为一项课堂行动研究,研究人员应用了基于问题的学习与课程研究周期,回答了以下两个研究问题:(a)应用基于问题的学习与课程研究周期是否可以提高学生的议论文写作技巧?(b)学生对实施的反应如何?研究对象为马来西亚登巴萨大学教师培训与教育学院英语教育研究项目IVA学期的36名学生。为了收集资料,采用测试和问卷作为研究手段。对数据进行描述性定量和定性分析(交互模型)。本研究发现,问题基础学习与课程研究的应用能够提高学生的议论文写作技巧,学生对其应用改善学习给予了积极的反应。关键词:议论文,课堂学习,问题型学习。

STRUKTUR IKLAN PARFUM ECLAT FOR MEN PADA KATALOG ORIFLAME

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to identify “The structure of Eclat for Men’s Perfume in Oriflame Catalogue” because the structure is an interesting topic to discuss. The problem analyzed in this research is what kinds of structure found in Eclat for Men’s Perfume found in Oriflame Catalogue. The theory used in this research is theory by Leech about structure of advertisement which consists of headline, body copy, signature line dan standing details. This research is also limited on commercial advertisement on men’s perfume entitled Eclat for Men’s which is obtained from the Oriflame Catalogue. The result shows that Eclat for Men’s Perfume has a complete structure. They are headline, illustration, body copy, signature line dan standing details. For the next research commercial advertisement on electronic media should be reviewed in the terms of semiotic. Keywords: Text, Systemic Functional Linguistics, Commercial Advertisement

ELLIPSIS PHENOMENON IN SENTENCES FOUND IN NOVEL SHERLOCK HOLMES 小说《福尔摩斯》中的句子省略现象

  Abstract Ellipsis is one of phenomenon in language use. Traditionally, ellipsis is the grammar means that avoids repetitions, abandons the old information, highlights key words and make the context connected tightly. The structure of the sentence that occur ellipsis phenomenon of course will have changed and quite different with the common grammatical sentence which used the rules but still have same meaning.cNovel Sherlock Holmes was chosen as the data source of this research because there are a lot of type ellipsis phenomenon found. It mainly aimed at investigating types of ellipsis phenomenon occurred in the novel completed by showing the structure of constituent that construct the sentences in tree diagram. The discussion is not only in Syntax view point, this research also tries to describe the function of the ellipsis, because actually ellipsis  is not only used for the speaker’s economy but it can have many other function such can remove ambiguity, can convey non-expressible aspect of meaning, can establish discourse coherence and contribute to a positive rapport with the hearer. The data focused on the sentences that got from narration and dialogs that found in a fictional private detective novel. The method of collecting the data used direct observation method by reading the novel which contains 1059 pages, then collected the sentences which occur ellipsis, checked the structure of the sentences while choosing some sentences that represent various sentence structure of elliptical phenomenon and functions based on theory used. After the data collected, they analyzed by some theories. The types of ellipsis phenomenon analyzed using Kiss and Alexiadou (2015) collected theories, then the structure investigated by Brown (1991) theory, and the function analyzed by Hendricks & Spenader (2005) theory. 摘要省略是语言使用中的一种现象。传统意义上,省略是避免重复,抛弃旧信息,突出关键词,使上下文紧密相连的语法手段。出现省略现象的句子结构当然会发生变化,与使用规则但意义相同的普通语法句子有很大的不同。之所以选择小说《福尔摩斯》作为本研究的数据源,是因为在小说中发现了大量的类型省略现象。它主要是通过树形图显示构成句子的成分的结构来考察小说中出现的省略现象的类型。本研究不仅从句法的角度进行讨论,还试图描述省略的功能,因为实际上省略不仅用于说话人的经济,而且还有许多其他功能,例如可以消除歧义,可以传达意义的不可表达方面,可以建立话语连贯,有助于与听者建立积极的关系。数据集中在从虚构的私家侦探小说中找到的叙述和对话中得到的句子。收集资料的方法采用直接观察法,通过阅读1059页的小说,收集出现省略的句子,检查句子的结构,同时根据所使用的理论选择一些代表各种省略现象和功能的句子结构。收集数据后,他们用一些理论进行了分析。使用Kiss和Alexiadou(2015)收集理论分析省略现象的类型,然后是Brown(1991)理论研究的结构,Hendricks & spender(2005)理论分析的功能。关键词:省略现象,类型,句法结构,功能。
