One of the key challenges facing Christianity in contemporary Africa is ineffective discipleship. The African church has won many converts in recent times and yet, the continent is among the least performing continents in terms of socio-economic development. The reason for this observation is that many African Christians consider Christianity as a religion of the heart and consequently, do not care so much about what they do in the public arena. In a context like this, Paul’s concept of the transformed life (explained in Romans 12:1) has the potential of correcting misconceptions about Christianity and empowering African Christians to engage the public sphere with their faith. The purpose of this paper is to conduct a textual analysis of Romans 12:1 to develop Christian ethics for (Africa) believers. The paper used a literature-based research approach and collected data from such sources as commentaries, articles and dissertations. The main thesis is that living a sacrificial life involves a total dedication to God in response to his gracious mercies manifested toward the believer. The paper contributes to Christian ethics, Pauline studies and African Christianity.

This article intends to examine and examine the idea of the Islamization of contemporary science, especially in the era of society 0.5 in the view of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas. The use of descriptive methods with a philosophical approach is used for this research. By interpreting various sources, since the birth of the idea, the Islamization of knowledge has become an attraction for Muslim scholars. Al-Attas dared to express an opinion contrary to the western term not to deify science (science). This idea is relevant to the current conditions where people's lives and science are supported by technology that the West mainly creates. The science currently developing is much out of Islamic values and brings disaster to humans. Hence, the importance of human awareness is to return to religion and not deify knowledge so that excessive fanaticism arises.

This paper discusses the use of pawned goods, many of which mean that pawning is a debt agreement in which the debtor includes an item to be held by the person who owes the debt (murtahin) to provide a sense of security for the person who gives the debt. The scholars agree that the person who receives the pawn should not take advantage of the pawned goods. This matter is based on the fact that the main pawning contract is debt, and the principle that applies is to help (ta’awun), not to seek a profit (without any strings attached). However, the existing practice in society is the opposite. The pawn contains an element of usury by using the pawned goods in rice fields or coconut plantations to take advantage instead of helping. The author offers the concept of bai'ul uhdah that can be used as a solution for usury in goods pawns. The pawnbroker and the pawnee can replace the usual pawn transactions carried out with a baiul 'uhdah contract. Therefore, the use of pawned goods by the parties pawnbrokers is no longer considered a form of taking advantage of receivables. In conclusion, this paper uses a normative approach to uncover valid values in the practice of pawning in society that could be actualized in the future.
