The vast majority of present-day students belong to the so-called digital generation, which can be characterized by a number of unique cognitive features formed as a result of the extensive use of digital gadgets and modern technology. New means of interacting with reality and new strategies of cognitive information processing have created a demand for updating the repertoire of traditional teaching techniques. The edutainment technique has the capacity to satisfy this demand. Purpose. This article aims to provide a case study of applying the edutainment technique to develop lingua-socio-cultural competence of the students majoring in interpreting and translation. Methods. The article reviews recent advances in the edutainment technique implementation. The author analyzes the results of the practical application of this technique during English lessons. Results. The case study has shown that the application of the edutainment technique increases the students’ interest in the topic and motivation to study, boosts attention span through the activation of the emotional sphere, and improves the satisfaction from learning. Edutainment also facilitates understanding of complicated, culturally specific topics, helping to develop lingua-socio-cultural competence. While using the edutainment technique, it may be necessary for the teacher to perform the function of an edutainer, i.e., not only provide explanations of cultural contexts but engage students in them. Conclusion. The edutainment technique is beneficial for both the student and the teacher. This technique, by design, satisfies the cognitive preferences of the digital generation as well as the technological requirements of long-distance education, which, after the onset of the pandemic and the war, has become the norm in Ukraine.

Introduction. Education faces the challenges of modern society, which is in high demand for effective tools for teaching foreign languages and culture at a linguistic university. At the same time, in the process of English language primary school teachers’ training, educational principles are fundamental, which allow taking into account the initial requirements for the construction of a foreign language educational process, in particular, for teaching English dialogical speech. English dialogical speech competence formation is implemented by means of interactive technology. Purpose - to single out and specify English dialogical speech interactive training methodical principles of prospective primary school teachers in the context of a communicative approach. Methods. The conducted research is based on using the following methods: studying and analyzing scientific publications and observing the training process. Results. Without diminishing the importance of general didactic principles, we focused on the interactive teaching methodological principles of English dialogical speech of prospective primary school teachers: general principles (regarding the organization of the educational process as a whole), individual principles (related to certain aspects of educational process) and special principles (directly affect the interactive training of English dialogical speech of prospective primary school teachers). The principal result of our research is the investigation of English dialogical speech teaching principles and their influence on students’ communication skills in dialogical speech practice. Conclusion. The methodical principles, which are specified by us, serve as the main theoretical basis for the practical development of a methodology for students’ English dialogical speech teaching by taking into account all aspects, challenges, and conditions of such education.

In professional methodological training of prospective lecturers of the French and Spanish languages and methodology of their teaching, graduate research assistantship occupies a significant place. Graduate research assistantship includes mastering fundamentals in research, developing constructive-planned, organizational, communicative and teaching skills. Aims. The paper aims at the 2022-2023 first master’s graduate research assistantship analysis: the way it was organized. Methods. The analytical literature review of already existed methodological researches and published papers has been used among other methods ofscientific surveys to reach our aim, also monitoring the progress of different forms of graduate research assistantship (practical classes, extracurricular activities, scientific club, discussion club etc.) and interviewing the students. Results. We have provided a questionnaire for trainees to define their attitude and effectiveness toward the questionnaire at the end of graduate research assistantship. According to the questionnaire results 99% of students consider the necessity to include graduate research assistantship aspect into the curriculum of pedagogical practice on the first foreign language and mark its content for the future occupation with the highest score. Conclusions. The first experience of holding graduate research assistantship for Master’s – prospective lecturers of the French and Spanish languages and methodology of their teaching, proves the feasibility and effectiveness of this type of training for mastering such important component of methodological competence as methodical skills.

The essence of the notions “blended learning”, “distance learning” has been emphasized, and the importance of their understanding in the realm of modern conditions (particularly under martial law) has been highlighted. We consider to assert that all components of blended learning are in the relations of matrix dependence, where any individual component is related to the rest of the components. For instance, if a significant proportion of the use of distance learning loses the environment of real personal communication, as it is carried out either in the electronic information and educational environment by means of messaging, or through the system of web conferencing, webinars, video communication, then blended learning (henceforthBL) corrects this deficiency, as it provides a direct contact with the student and a group of students. Methods. To achieve the goal of the research, such methods as student surveys, analysis, synthesis, study of scientific literature and Internet sources on the pertinent problem of distance learning (henceforth DL), as a key part of BL and its implementation within modern higher education conditions are used. Results. Based on the analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature, some tendencies in implementation of BL in the system of higher education have been summarized. It has been stated this groundbreaking technology can’t appear on its own and is unable to exist in its pure form but it must be a flexible system of DL, added with a direct interaction of a professor and education applicants during traditional learning that, in its turn, will predominantly allowintensifying the educational process, building out and increasing the effectiveness of independent learning. It is important to justify in the light of modern concept of ВL in higher education that if BL as a new technology cannot appear by itself and cannot exist in its pure form and it must be a flexible system of DL, it has necessitated the study of the status and problems related to using the elements of the latter in war conditions. The features and technological advantages of DL over other organizational forms of learning are investigated, its weaknesses are reflected, which can be leveled by the active use of blended learning models. DL is supposed to take into account the changes that have taken place in the educational information structure of modern society, which determines the relevance of the development and implementation of information and communication technologies ((henceforth ICT). It can be considered as a means of modernizing the education system, enriching the quality of BL by adding extensive application of ICT and lift it to new levels. The ins and outs of the DL implementation have been navigated. Its strengths and weaknesses are subjected to scrunity, where the latter can be weakened or eliminated through the active usage of the advantages of BL as a demanding form of modern education. The development of the system of teaching foreign languages and cultures in institutions of higher education requires regular updating of the components of this system, in particular, modern means of teaching foreign languages and cultures. Among such tools, Kahoot! platform stands out as a means of edutainment technology for the professional competences development, in particular prospective translators, where the grammatical competence occupies a leading place as general foreign language speech competence’s component. The purpose of this article is to substantiate theoretically the effectiveness (feasibility) of using the Kahoot! educational and gaming platform as a means of edutainment technology for the grammatical competencedevelopment of the students – the prospective Arabic language translators. Results. On the basis of the application mentioned above, the teachers of the KNLU Oriental Studies Department created two games on the topic “Numerals in Arabic” and “What time is it?”, which are aimed at developing educational and cognitive, grammatical and orthographic competences. The game is designed for the 1st-year students studying Arabic, majoring in “the Arabic language”. Test tasks, even with low results achieved by those who study, mostly do not cause such negative emotions in them, which can significantly reduce positive motivation to study foreign languages. This is due to the complete objectivity of the test control and its transparency. This can help to solveseveral issues such as, the reading speed of numbers used in Arab countries increases, multiple repetition of certain grammatical clichés increases speed of their construction in the further process of speech activity and also increase student’s motivation to be involved in the studying grammar. Conclusion. Using Kahoot! as a means of modern teaching technology, edutainment in classes on the practice of oral and written speech in the Arabic language contributes to the effective educational, cognitive and grammatical linguistic competence development of the students – the prospective Arabic language translators.
