This paper estimates total factor productivity of Chinese economy with a DEA Malmquist approach. The productivity is then used as a representative of technological progress in a growth model. The growth model analyse the effects of capital, labour, technology, globalisation, marketization and infrastructure on economic growth, based on provincial panel data. It is found that after 2002, productivity of Chinese economy reaches a positive growth rate and has a positive and relatively large output elasticity (0.54) for the economic growth. Technical change is a major contributor to the productivity growth. However, technical efficiency does not demonstrate significant growth during the focal period. The analysis also reveals that Chinese economic growth in the past years was mainly capital-driven, with a largest output elasticity of 0.61 and high growth rates of capital formation. The elasticity of labour, 0.47, is significantly large too, partially due to the migration of rural workers from agricultural sectors to industrial sectors and the improvement of labour quality. Infrastructure also has a positive impact on economic growth. The impacts of globalisation, marketization and FDI are insignificant.

Bernie Madoff perpetrated the largest Ponzi scheme in American history, by utilizing a fraud methodology that dates back to the mid 1800s. Madoff was able to steal roughly $65 billion dollars, during the course of multiple decades. Due to the elaborate nature of the fraud and the reputable public perception of Madoff, the scheme not only went uncovered after multiple Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) tips and pre-investigations, but also continued to grow and increase in popularity, among investors worldwide. The SEC conducted haphazard investigations and utilized inexperienced examiners that lacked support and guidance from senior leaders. The SEC also had understaffed personnel, which kept over-worked investigators from thoroughly examining Madoff’s network. In this research paper, the author provides a critical analysis of the entire incident and also broadens the discussion to capture lessons learned, while extrapolating the details to consider fraud prevention techniques that can be used by organizations of all sizes, in multiple industries. The author offers recommendations to investors to reduce the potential of falling victim to future Ponzi schemes and/or other fraudulent behavior in corporate settings. The research includes recommendations for investigators so they are prepared to quickly discover and eliminate Ponzi schemes and other fraudulent activities, while mitigating losses. Lastly, insight into the reform and modifications that have occurred within the SEC as a result of the Madoff Ponzi scheme will be reviewed.

Deterioration of traditions, culture and heritage in tourism destination is often cited as a looming crisis. Direct and long exposure to diverse culture and the community’s temptation to economic opportunities sometimes force them to move away from the main stream indigenous characters. When financial objectives score over all other aspects, need for strategic interventions to preserve and maintain indigenous culture and tradition arise. Empowerment of community to own their own recourses and develop an affective commitment among themselves is a need of this hour. Being Responsible Tourism emerge as a most popular sustainable tourism theme, present study proposes a model comprises Responsible Tourism, material well-being, community engagement, cultural identity, cross cultural interaction, community services, exposure and awareness of the local community along with sustaining the commitment of community towards cultural preservation (Sustainable Commitment) as a strategy for sustainable cultural preservation.

The fabulous role of tourism industry in the growth of countries economy is undeniable. As a result, every country attempts to develop this industry in its territory. Undoubtedly, understanding of all the aspects of this industry and a thorough planning would greatly help the progress of each government. Due to the importance of breakdown of various types of tourism for all sectors, this study has considered the identification and prioritization of the gastronomic tourism development strategies. Iran is a historical country and every region has its unique style of cooking and its own history. Considering the potentiality of Iran in gastronomic tourism, we attempted to survey the expert attitudes on gastronomic tourism development strategies and rank them using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Unfortunately, gastronomic tourism has been disregarded, this study can provide good information for the planners and policy-makers.

Today, we live in a world where the development of the country is partly dependent on the building of hotels. Hence, this is considered as a very important factor. The purpose of this study is to investigate the concept of client contentment in the hotel sector. In carrying out this study, the Mariador Palace was selected, and a study was conducted on 200 clients of this company. They were interviewed to answer a questionnaire which was used as a sample for the client contentment. In addition, some investigation method was used. From the results of this study, we have found that adopting client contentment concept in the Mariador palace Hotel will be a positive contribution in achieving objectives, getting client’s acquisition, maintaining retention, and decreasing client’s loss. This study recommends that the Mariador palace hotel should be based more on the development of the nature of their services, treatment of customer’s complaints, and obtaining feedback from clients who are loyal in patronizing the hotel. Thus, this is with the view of improving the quality of their service delivery again.

We examine spillover effects of the recent U.S. financial crisis on five emerging Asian countries by estimating conditional correlations of financial asset returns across countries using multivariate GARCH models. We propose a novel approach that simultaneously estimates the conditional correlation coefficient and the effects of its determining factors over time, which can be used to identify the channels of spillovers. We find a dominant role of foreign investment for the conditional correlations in international equity markets. The dollar Libor OIS spread, the sovereign CDS premium, and foreign investment are found to be significant factors affecting foreign exchange markets.
