A photo-based augmented reality system with HTML5/JavaScript 基于HTML5/JavaScript的照片增强现实系统

Augmented Reality (AR) is applied in different fields, such as entertainment, medicine, manufacturing and repair, and training. Due to the increase of interest in AR, simple frameworks for developing AR system are required. This paper proposes a photo-based AR system that uses photo images taken from different perspectives around an object. The proposed system just pastes a suitable photo image on the display instead of rendering 3DCGs.

Correcting phase distortion of phase shifting method 相移法校正相位畸变

We propose a method of correcting phase distortion which is caused when measuring any objects by phase shifting method with an ordinary projector. We have measured some objects with the projector which is commercially available [1]. In this paper, we try to improve the precision with the proposing method. The method calculates differences between the idealized phase and observed, and then feeding back the error to the observed phase. By using this method, the precision could be made better by 47%.

Image denoising via nonlocal means with noise-robust similarity 图像的非局部去噪方法具有噪声鲁棒性

We propose an effective image denoising method by revising the conventional “nonlocal means (NL-means)” method. Conventional NL-means replaces a noisy pixel by the weighted average of other reference pixels depending on the similarity between local neighborhoods of target pixel and reference pixels. Noise, however, reduces the similarity even within the same pattern blocks. This is due to the weighted average of dissimilar blocks of pixels, which makes the result image blurred or irregular. Hence, our proposal is to calculate the similarity with the combination of basis patterns correlated statistically with little noise through principal component analysis making use of local structures that have low correlation with incurred noise. The first step is to exclude the local structures of the given image whose statistical correlation with the original images is slight. The second step is to exclude basis patterns whose correlation with the target blocks is slight. Making use of the selected basis patterns, we can calculate the similarity robust to any noise. Consequently, high-quality images can be obtained. Comparing with other methods, our experiments show our method denoises effectively without causing any blur or irregularity.

Evaluation of a help system designed using interaction primitives to estimate the function schemata of users 使用交互原语设计的帮助系统的评估,以估计用户的功能模式

This paper proposes a help system that would simplify the use of search functions on audio visual (AV) appliances. The proposed help system is equipped with an interface for user interaction that employs a frame-driven dialog model. The frames are designed using common structures extracted by analyzing device functions based on interaction primitives. In addition, the proposed help system estimates the types of common structures (function schema) on the basis of the operation history recorded prior to the user pressing the help button to reduce user effort. To ascertain the effectiveness of the function schema estimations, we constructed a help system for a DVD recorder and evaluated the decrease in user effort by using the operation history data of the DVD recorder derived from 30 tasks performed by 14 users. The experimental results showed an 8.6% reduction in user effort when compared to a system that does not apply function schema estimation.

User interfaces with 3DCG system 用户界面与3DCG系统

In the national Japanese junior high school mathematics curriculum, students are required to understand the number of sides and vertices on regular polyhedrons. In the case of regular polyhedrons having 12 or more sides, it was found that improvement in the existing classroom technology was possible. We surveyed and evaluated solutions using recently available Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) technology for application in the junior high math classroom. The preliminary result shows that interactive 3DCG using AR is effective for learners of concepts in platonic solids.

Hierarchical block-based disparity estimation 基于分层块的视差估计

A hierarchical block-based dense disparity estimation method is proposed for stereoscopic videos. After determining accurate disparity values for non-overlapping blocks, a dense disparity map is obtained by applying a bilateral filter. The experimental result shows that the proposed method can produce a reliable disparity map with high efficiency.

Wireless Ad-Hoc networks offer potential for a wide range of commercial applications. Unfortunately, negative aspects, like low throughput or high packet loss under varying link conditions may threaten the usability for commercial scenarios. Using multiple channels to form interface bundles between neighboring nodes may significantly improve such flaws. In this work, a set of load balancing modes, to manage packet scheduling within each bundle is defined and investigated. Our goal is to improve both reliability and performance of commercially used ad-hoc networks.

Impact of the noise level on the route discovery mechanism in noisy MANETs 噪声水平对有噪声manet中路由发现机制的影响

In mobile consumer devices, today, one of the limiting factors behind efficiency is that of battery life. The challenge facing mobile consumer device designers is that the discovery phase of the routing process when attempting to establish a mobile ad hoc network tends to put the highest strain on the battery life of the device. Such routing algorithms tend to be affected by the presence of noise resulting in increased packet loss within the network environment. This paper is concerned with studying the effect of noise level on route discovery mechanism in the ad hoc on demand distance vector (AODV) routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks. In this paper, a performance analysis of route discovery in AODV is presented based on noise level.

The microcontroller chip for motor driver, industrial appliance, and automotive chips are required to provide methods for detecting unsafe conditions by software-driven or hardware support, such as IEC-60730 qualification requirements. Small, fast, safety-conscious operations are critical for designing safe microcontrollers, because additional hardware and software overhead is required to sense a malfunction. In this paper, especially for flash instruction memory, we propose silent execution hardware calculating the CRC of the ROM data during CPU idle time without any CPU wait cost. Parallel CRC hardware and the dedicated-FSM are executed faster at the clock level compared to software CRC calculation which requires an explicit CPU wait state. The 64kB ROM integrity verification in the experimental 8051 MCU requires about 24ms of execution time at an 8Mhz clock speed without any CPU wait state when running silently in background mode, and it requires an additional 1650 gates for the proposed hardware data path.

In this paper, especially for flash instruction memory, we propose silent execution hardware calculating the CRC of the ROM data during CPU idle time without any CPU wait cost. Parallel CRC hardware and the dedicated-FSM are executed faster at the clock level compared to software CRC calculation which requires an explicit CPU wait state.
