Bar-shaped ultrasonic linear motor using traveling wave along rod with bimorph transducers 棒状超声直线电机采用沿棒行波双晶片换能器

By using a pair of bimorph transducers, we have already miniaturized a traveling-wave-based ultrasonic linear motor and achieved a diameter of <; 10 mm, but its motor performances were not sufficient for practical applications. In this study, in order to improve its performances, the motor structure is optimized with the two methods: by reducing the thickness of the transmission bar, and by increasing the number of the bimorph transducers. The highest motor speed of 118 mm/s is achieved with the former, while the largest motor thrust of 0.5 N is obtained with the latter. These values are approximately 25 and 15 times as large as those in our previous experiments.

A Game for spatial training for three-dimensional forming in art domain has been developed. In addition, some pretests for comparing the performance of the expert and novice about the time and operation have been done. The result suggests the effectivity of this type of training game for three-dimensional forming.

An interpreted language with debugging interface for a micro controller 一种带有微控制器调试接口的解释性语言

We have developed an interpreted language for a beginner to use understanding programming and electronic circuits and making his/her creation. Its interpreter runs on Arduino's micro controller and its grammar resembles to Arduino language (C/C++ programming language). It also has built in debugging interface to visualize pin values and variables. In this paper, we report the implementation of the language and a debugging tool. The language and the tool could be used in education course for micro controller programming to help students.

An optimal importance sampling based particle filtering for channel parameter estimation in shallow ocean 基于最优重要采样的粒子滤波在浅海航道参数估计中的应用

Estimating channel parameters in a shallow ocean environment is challenging due to low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), multi-path effect and time-varying nature of ocean. In this paper, a Bayesian framework and its particle filtering (PF) implementation are introduced to cope with this problem. At each time step, the particles are sampled according to a random walk model, and then evaluated by the corresponding importance weights. An extended Kalman filter (EKF) is incorporated to achieve an optimal importance sampling, by which the states are coarsely estimated and the particles are relocated. As such the particles are more likely drawn at the relevant area and can be resampled more efficiently. Experiments show that the proposed EKF-PF tracking algorithm significantly outperforms the traditional tracking approaches in challenging environments.

A framework for context-aware power management on embedded devices 嵌入式设备上上下文感知电源管理的框架

Power management for modern embedded devices is not a simple task, because its scope is not limited to simple system-level control, but needs to consider device and application status as well. In addition, as the desired power control behavior varies from product to product, the same software often become unreusable for other embedded systems. In order to solve this problem, we propose a framework for context-aware power management on embedded devices. Our framework is made up of policy definitions and a mechanism to handle that policy. By defining the power management policies suitable for each product, programmers can intuitively realize the requested power management behavior without going into the details of its mechanisms. We have evaluated our framework by applying it to a practical system, through which we confirmed that our framework can realize fine-grained power management on practical embedded systems through intuitive policy descriptions.

This paper reviews the requirement and consideration for standardizing Next Generation Wireless Form Factor (NGWFF) which is new thin and slim wireless form factor. It will replace the existing PCI Express minicard form factor. These requirement and consideration were submitted to the PCI SIG NGFF Working Group and included into the draft specifications of NGFF.

A seamless wireless network switching tunnel for ubiquitous healthcare environment 面向无处不在的医疗环境的无缝无线网络交换隧道

A hospital's mobile nursing cart can collect clinical data via Wi-Fi networks and save data in the server side. This service not only provides better medical care, but also enhances staff productivity. However, the coverage of Wi-Fi is limited and signal dead ends will result in wireless disconnection. This problem can be solved by switching between Wi-Fi and 3G. The physical connection must be disconnected and be reconnected again. Therefore, it is interesting to design a mechanism to keep the physical connection continuous. This research designs a Stream Control Transmission Protocol Tunnel (SCTP-Tunnel) middleware. This middleware can be used to build a tunnel between client and server sides such that the SCTP packets can carry the TCP packets and solve the problem of disconnection caused by the one-to-one TCP. The proposed SCTP-Tunnel is compatible with IPv4 and IPv6 and can be adopted without modifying the applications. This design utilizes the SCPT packet acknowledge and multi-homing mechanisms to achieve network fault tolerance. It is feasible to provide a tunnel service via the SCTP-Tunnel and connect to service indirectly without changing the original system architecture to approach the Wi-Fi and 3G switching seamlessly. Such a service will also provide quality long-term healthcare services in the healthcare enterprise.

W-Buddy: Wear-out-aware memory allocator for SCRAM-based low power mobile systems W-Buddy:损耗感知内存分配器,用于基于超燃存储的低功耗移动系统

Since recently emerging storage class RAM (SCRAM) devices are power-efficient, byte-addressable, and non-volatile, they are expected to replace the power-hungry DRAM in mobile consumer devices. However, SCRAM has a limited number of program and erase cycling, requiring a wear-leveling technique. Since the locality in memory access pattern may intensify the discriminated wearing of memory blocks, it is required to change the operating systems such that memory accesses are distributed evenly over all memory space for wear-leveling. We propose a novel memory allocator, called W-Buddy, which selects a free memory chunk to be allocated considering the wear-outs of memory chunks. Our experimental results show that the proposed W-Buddy achieves fourteen time longer lifetime compared with the conventional buddy memory allocator.

Mobile and multi-device interactive panorama video distribution system 移动多设备交互式全景视频分发系统

Distribution of reality of the event site through broadband network is expected for a future video service. We propose video distribution system for providing such a realistic user experience in the mobile and home environments, upon recent trends of wireless broadband network LTE and Wi-Fi, and multi-touch wide screen mobile terminal. In the system the user can see high quality video of the expected area within the huge panorama video which represents the whole scene while moving and zooming in interactively the viewing area under limited bandwidth of wireless network. In addition, multi-device video streaming to the TV terminal and mobile terminal is supported. The user can experience more sensational interactive viewing with more high quality video and sound while keeping stress-free multi-touch interface to control the viewing area.
