Investigating Academic Service Quality in Ethiopian Public Higher Education: Insights from Students’ Perspectives 埃塞俄比亚公立高等教育学术服务质量调查:从学生角度看问题

In the existing literature, the nexus between educational service quality and students’ satisfaction are well documented. However, among the elements of educational service quality, Academic Service Quality [ASQ] is not studied separately or adequately in academic settings, which could directly influence how teaching and learning unfolds. This study aims to examine students’ perception towards academic service quality in Ethiopian Higher Education system. To serve this purpose, a mixed research method with convergent parallel design is implemented. The study participants are selected via purposive and random sampling techniques. A self-developed questionnaire and interviews are the main tools for gathering data. The questionnaire, consisting 61 items, is distributed to four hundred [400] randomly selected regular undergraduate Graduating Class [GC] students, while semi-structured interviews are conducted with eight key informants. The findings of the study revealed that the majority of the elements that constituted the key attributes of academic service quality are perceived by students to be poor. This is reflected in low mean scores in many variables or items associated with the facets of academic service quality. The findings of this study further uncovered that poor delivery of academic services affect students’ learning outcomes.

A strategic Vision to Develop Research Performance Based on the Transition to a Research University 基于向研究型大学转型的发展科研绩效的战略愿景

This study aimed at suggesting a strategic vision to develop research performance at the Palestinian universities in the light of requirements for transition to a research university. Researchers used the mixed method. Quantitative data were collected by using a questionnaire that was applied to (339) university instructors and the qualitative data were collected from three focus groups. The study concluded that the estimations of the study participants on the real research performance at the Palestinian universities were of a relative weight (55.28%). Based on the results, the researchers structured a matrix for strategic analysis and a suggested strategic vision that were presented to a focus group of experts (No=7) in educational administration and scientific research to control it. The study recommended the necessity to adopt the strategic vision suggested by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Universities, in addition to the adoption of publicized scientific and administrative policies to support the development of the Palestinian universities and the transformation from traditional universities to research universities.

Proposed Mechanisms for Enhancing the Performance of Omani Universities in the Global Rankings 提高阿曼大学在全球排名中的表现的拟议机制

The study aimed to identify the reality of Omani universities in the international rankings of universities in three types of classifications: ARWU, QS, THE, and to identify the challenges facing universities in these classifications from the perspective of the participants and the proposed mechanisms to improve the reality of universities. The study used the descriptive approach through Describe the performance of universities through the ranking tables of the classification institutions and used the qualitative method through the semi-structured interview tool to identify the reasons for poor performance and suggest mechanisms to improve the reality of universities. The intended sample is from all the targeted universities. After the disclosure on the websites of the rankings institutions, the result shows that one university appeared in the rankings, which is Sultan Qaboos University. However, in the last report of the QS classification it fell from (368) to (384). The study revealed the factors behind the decline of the university as well as the reasons for the failure of other universities to emerge. The most important of which is the modernity of the universities and that all universities are still as a teaching universities, despite the fact that there is interest in scientific research, especially in Sultan Qaboos University, but it still has not reached the rates that contribute to raising global ranking, as well as aspects of funding, especially in private universities. The study suggested a number of improvement mechanisms, including addressing funding sources with the existence of an educational endowment, paying attention to the research infrastructure of universities, marketing research to diversify sources of income, and other proposals.

The Extent of Applying the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation "CAEP" Standards in Teacher Education Programs in the Faculty of Education, University of Khartoum 喀土穆大学教育学院教师教育项目应用教育工作者准备认证委员会“CAEP”标准的程度

This study aimed at identifying the extent of applying the "CAEP" Standards in the teacher preparation programs in the Faculty of Education, University of Khartoum. To achieve the aim of the study, a descriptive method was used, and it relied on a questionnaire that was applied to a sample of (97) faculty members, which consisted of (66) items divided into (5) standards: content and pedagogical knowledge; clinical partnerships and practice; candidate quality (recruitment and selectivity); program impact; and provider quality assurance and continuous improvement. The results showed a moderate level of applying the "CAEP" standards in teacher preparation programs in the Faculty of Education, University of Khartoum. There were no differences in the level of application the "CAEP" standards attributed to gender.

Education is an important tool for States' development and progress economic, social and political impediments, in addition to promoting the concept of sustainable and inclusive development in various areas ", especially in this era of remarkable development in the educational process, which has produced significant progress in embracing the concepts of sustainability, until education became the deadly weapon in the face of underdevelopment, poverty and ignorance. Education is one of the key pillars of inclusive development in its economic, social and political dimensions which is a key to progress and urbanization for any State in view of its leading role in sustainable development, Since the eighteenth century, economists - Adam Smith, Marx, Marshall and Maltus - have alerted the importance of investing in human capital through education and training But not until the 1950s and 1960s, Several applied studies have confirmed that economic development consists of two main components: The human component, which includes increasing human capacities by raising the level of education and raising the level of health; The material component, which includes increasing economic growth rates, is increasing per capita domestic product, and human capital theory emphasizes the important role that education plays as a key factor in the accumulation of human capital, achieving sustainable development and reducing poverty rates. Based on the importance of the impact of education in general on sustainable development as determined by economic theories and international experiences, this study seeks to analyse the impact of education on human development in Libya. The main problem of this study is to answer the following key question: What is the impact of education on human development in Libya during the period 1990-2019? Theoretically, the study's importance is to illustrate the inability to achieve sustainable development. without human development, education is the main dimension of human development and sustainable development is a necessary requirement for all developed and developing countries, Education is also one of the most important forms of investment in human capital. In addition, the practical importance of this study is to examine the impact of education on Libya's human development. development policies that lead to inclusive development. Drawing on the use of the analytical curriculum to determine the relationship between education and human development at the theoretical level, and analysing this relationship statistically, to test the study's main hypothesis: a statistically significant relationship exists between education and human development in Libya during the study period.

The Developing of the comprehensive examination system in the intermediate colleges in the southern governorates of Palestine 巴勒斯坦南部省中级学院综合考试制度的发展

This study aimed to develop the comprehensive examination system in the intermediate college in the southern governments of Palestine, and suggest ways to develop it, and the researchers depended the descriptive approach in its analytical style, and used questionnaire as a main tool for study, and the study sample was selected using the simple random sampling method, It consisted of (278) faculty and administrative staff members, and (220) male and female graduates, and one of the most important findings of the study was: that the degree of the study sample’s assessment of the level of effectiveness of the elements of the comprehensive examination system in the intermediate colleges in the southern governorates of Palestine came with a relative weight of (73.20%), which is a high degree, and that the degree of The graduates' assessment of their level of satisfaction with the comprehensive examination system got a relative weight of (80.10%), which means that it is very high. The researchers suggested a number of ways, the most important of which are: holding enrichment training and rehabilitation courses for all administrators and faculty members on the comprehensive exam, holding periodic meetings between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the concerned colleges to discuss the comprehensive exam procedures, and developing the comprehensive applied exam standards, in order to achieve the development of the system.

{"title":"The Developing of the comprehensive examination system in the intermediate colleges in the southern governorates of Palestine","authors":"د. محمود إبراهيم خلف الله, أ. حنان أحمد التلولي","doi":"10.20428/ajqahe.v15i53.2108","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.20428/ajqahe.v15i53.2108","url":null,"abstract":"This study aimed to develop the comprehensive examination system in the intermediate college in the southern governments of Palestine, and suggest ways to develop it, and the researchers depended the descriptive approach in its analytical style, and used questionnaire as a main tool for study, and the study sample was selected using the simple random sampling method, It consisted of (278) faculty and administrative staff members, and (220) male and female graduates, and one of the most important findings of the study was: that the degree of the study sample’s assessment of the level of effectiveness of the elements of the comprehensive examination system in the intermediate colleges in the southern governorates of Palestine came with a relative weight of (73.20%), which is a high degree, and that the degree of The graduates' assessment of their level of satisfaction with the comprehensive examination system got a relative weight of (80.10%), which means that it is very high. This research aims to Identified to the extent to which faculty members in Palestinian universities possess digital competence in light of the Corona pandemic, as a stratified sample of (300) faculty members was selected, and the questionnaire that he made (Sangeetha and Saileela, 2021) was developed and used to detect Digital competence, and the results showed that the degree of possession of digital competencies by faculty members in Palestinian universities came to a medium degree, and they use e-mail and browsing, social media and to direct students to follow the course, and their ability to prepare electronic lecture files and upload documents and videos necessary for the lecture. On the other hand, it was also found that there were no statistically significant differences attributable to the variables of sex and university, while it was found that there were statistically significant differences due to the variable of academic rank and in favor of the highest rank, and in the variable of years of service and in favor of the least years of service.

The study aimed to identify the impact of social media on the behaviour and values of university youth in the Sultanate of Oman with a field study on Al Sharqiya University. Third, the study reached the following results:   There is a wide impact of social media on the behaviours of students at A'Sharqiyah University, as these effects tended to the negative side more than the positive in general, and the effects were in the following aspects: increasing students’ isolation, and staying up all night due to integration with some programs, and the effect was also on emotion to a high degree, while the effects of social media on the values of university students tended to be positive, there are several values that interacted positively, including: expanding social relations, the recipe for cooperation and helping others, and empathy greatly with others. The study also confirmed the absence of significant differences. A statistic at the level of (0.05) in the impact of social media on the axes of values and behaviours attributed to the school year. The study recommends intensifying legal and self-censorship and spreading network culture, whether through various programs or lectures.

The study aimed to find out the extent to which the faculty members of the Faculty of Economic، Commercial and Management Sciences at the University of 20 August 1955 Skikda were aware of the concept of intellectual capital and the great role it plays in building dynamic renewable capabilities at the level of human resources at the university that cannot be imitated، then analyze the impact of intellectual capital on The performance of the faculty under study، Where the descriptive analytical approach was followed in this study by relying on the questionnaire as a main tool in data collection. The study population consisted of 125 college professors. A simple random sample of 50 professors was selected. 44 questionnaires were retrieved، which represent the number of study sample members. In data analysis، we relied on the SPSS statistical analysis program.

The Impact of Developing Scientific Research in Higher Education Institutions on Achieving Sustainable Development under the Corona Pandemic 新冠疫情下高校开展科研对实现可持续发展的影响

The research aimed to identify the impact of developing scientific research in higher education institutions on achieving sustainable development under the Corona pandemic. The descriptive analytical method was used and data was obtained through a questionnaire that was distributed to a sample (210) employees randomly selected from four Palestinian universities: Al-Azhar University, Isra University, University of Palestine and Gaza University. The study results revealed that the application of developing scientific research and sustainable development in the universities under study received a high degree of respondents’ assessment. There was a direct statistically significant relationship between the scientific research development and the level of promoting sustainable development in the universities. There were also no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of promoting sustainable development in these universities due to the variable of the university, while there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of promoting sustainable development in the universities due to the variable of gender, in favor of females, as female faculty members seek to prove themselves as other faculty members who are no less competent in this field. The study concluded with a set of recommendations, including the need to establish a national authority for scientific research to be concerned with the quality and evaluation of scientific research in universities and subscribing to foreign databases and sources that provide help to researchers.
