El modelo clasico para sistemas multi-maquina se define como un conjunto de ecuaciones diferenciales no lineales para la velocidad del rotor y el angulo del generador paracada maquina electrica, este modelo matematico se conoce generalmente como las ecuaciones de oscilacion. Este articulo presenta la forma de utilizar la extrapolacion directa de Richardson de varios ordenes para lasolucion numerica de las ecuaciones de oscilacion y la compara con otros metodos implicitos y explicitos de uso comun como los metodos Runge-Kutta, Trapezoidal, Shampine y Radau. Se presenta un estudio numerico sobre un sistema simple de tres maquinas para ilustrar el desempeno y la implementacion algebraica de la extrapolacion de Richardson. El orden de exactitud de cualquier solucion numerica puede aumentarse cuando se utiliza la extrapolacion de Richardson. Se proporciona un ejemplo numerico para una red electrica que consta de tres maquinas y nueve buses que sufren una perturbacion. Se demuestra que en este caso la extrapolacion de Richardson aumenta efectivamente el orden de exactitud de los metodos explicitos haciendolos competitivos con los metodos implicitos. EnglishThe numerical solution of transient stability problems is a key element for electrical power system operation. The classical model for multi-machine systems is defined as a set of non-linear differential equations for the rotor speed and the generator angle for each electrical machine, this mathematical model is usually known as the swing equations. This paper presents how to use direct Richardson extrapolation of several orders for the numerical solution of the swing equations and compares it with other commonly used implicit and explicit solvers such as Runge-Kutta, trapezoidal, Shampine and Radau methods. A numerical study on a simple three machine system is used to illustrate the performance and implementation of algebraic Richardson extrapolation coupled to several solution methods. Normally, the order of accuracy of any numerical solution can be increased when Richardson Extrapolation is used. A numerical example is provided for an electrical grid consisting of three machines and nine buses undergoing a disturbance. It is shown that in this case Richardson extrapolation effectively increases the order of accuracy of the explicit methods making them competitive with the implicit methods.

Ademas, son un medio por el cual se reduce el nivel de concentracion en el mercado y la participacion de la demanda se pueden dar. En este articulo se presenta diferentes mecanismos de integracion de estas fuentes en el mercado, y se analiza su efecto sobre el precio de la electricidad en Colombia. In this review article, we examined the role of mitochondria in the good functioning of the heart, and in the generation of various cardiac conditions, which are characterized by low energy production by the mitochondria and therefore, there is an increase in the loss of cardiomyocytes that leads to malfunction of the heart. It has been determined that certain mitochondrial dysfunctions associated with cardiac disorders are related to alterations of the oxidative phosphorylation system, as well as to the reduction of certain structural components such as cardiolipin and the formation of supercomplexes. It is estimated that about 2.3% of the Colombian population may present prevalence to heart failure. The objective of the present review is to present the investigative advances related to cardiac diseases caused by mitochondrial dysfunction, as well the identification of different investigations directed at the creation of treatment alternatives for these pathologies, all in order to contribute to the construction of lines of work that take the mitochondria as a therapeutic target.

This paper presents a review of the chemical, physical and morphological characteristics, as well as the existing applications and mechanisms for the production of poly (3-hydroxybutyrate). This biopolymer, which is obtained from renewable sources, degrades when exposed in biologically active environments and is biocompatible, that is, it is not rejected by the human body in health applications. However, in spite of presenting similar properties with some conventional plastics, the PHB exhibits fragile behavior and thermal instability when processed. The literature proposes the use of blends, the development of copolymers or the insertion of additives in an attempt to improve the mechanical and thermal properties of PHB.

espanolEn este articulo se presenta una estrategia para modelar y resolver problemas no lineales de optimizacion con estudiantes de pregrado en ingenieria electrica empleando el Sistema de Modelado Algebraico General (GAMS). El problema clasico conocido como despacho economico ha sido seleccionado para mostrar la necesidad de usar herramientas matematicas para resolver problemas de gran tamano relacionados con ingenieria. El despacho economico es un problema clasico de optimizacion en operacion de sistemas termoelectricos, cuya idea principal es encontrar la operacion mas economica para los generadores termicos. Esta operacion esta basada en una curva cuadratica de costos con algunas restricciones operativas, como por ejemplo, balance de potencia y capacidades de generacion. La simulacion numerica es implementada en GAMS usando una version de prueba. Esta investigacion ha sido desarrollada con la ayuda de 36 estudiantes del curso de Regulacion y Operacion de Sistemas Electricos (ROES) del programa de Ingenieria Electrica de la Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira (UTP). EnglishThis paper presents an effectiveness strategy to model and solve nonlinear mathematical optimization problems in electrical engineering using General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS) for undergraduate students. A classical problem known as economic dispatch has been selected to show the need of using mathematical tools to solve a large scale optimization problem related with engineering. The economic dispatch is a classical optimization problem in operation of thermal electric systems, being the main idea to find an economical operation for thermal generators. This operation is based on a quadratic cost curve with some operating constraints, i.e., power balance and generation capacities. A numerical simulation is implemented using GAMS optimization package in demo version. This research has been developed with the support of 36 students of the course of Regulation and Operation of Electrical Systems (ROES) in the programof Electrical Engineering at Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira (UTP).

En este trabajo se estudia el problema de Transporte Publico, usualmente conocido como TNDP (Transport Network Design Problem) multiobjetivo. Este consiste en encontrar la combinacion ideal de rutas y frecuencias, que permita realizar un balance entre los intereses de los usuarios y los operadores, que se contraponen. Utiliza como datos de entrada un grafo con sus respectivos costos de transporte (en este caso tiempos) y demandas asociadas a cada par de nodos. Como metodo de solucion a este problema de optimizacion combinatoria multiobjetivo, se propone el uso de la metaheuristica Busqueda en Vecindades Variables (VNS), que resuelve problemas de optimizacion buscando soluciones competitivas mediante el cambio de vecindario iterativamente. El metodo propuesto es probado en el caso de estudio disenado por Mandl (Mandl, 1980), que consiste en 15 nodos y 21 arcos, y una matriz de demandas simetrica. El modelo primero se resolvio con el caso original para compararlo con autores que en oportunidades pasadas han trabajado el mismo problema. Posteriormente el VNS propuesto se probo con un modelo de demanda cambiante en 3 momentos del dia (Manana, tarde y noche) para corroborar los resultados positivos obtenidos en el primer ejercicio y darle un alcance mayor a la solucion del problema volviendolo multiperiodo.

En este articulos se propone una funcion que permite calcular un codigo resumen a partir de los parametros de una senal de voz. Esta funcion esta basada en el ordenamiento de los coeficientes espectrales en un proceso de imitacion entre el espectro de la senal de voz y el espectro de una senal de ruido gaussiano generada localmente. El metodo de funcion resumen esta orientado a la verificacion de integridad forense en senales de voz, con un enfoque perceptual, que implica que la funcion resumen no cambia si la senal sufre modificaciones que no alteran el contenido (como re-cuantizacion), pero que si cambia ante modificaciones como recorte y adicion de ruido. Se realizaron diversas pruebas para verificar el enfoque perceptual del metodo resumen propuesto y se compararon los resultados frente a modificaciones utilizando metodos tradicionales.

In this paper, a theoretical and experimental review of main physical properties of magnetic nanoparticles with application in magnetic hyperthermia is presented. In this way, this work has been divided in two parts: In part I, corresponding with this article, a detailed theoretical review about the particles properties and the physical laws that govern them, such as magnetization, interparticles interactions and structuring in colloidal suspensions. In the Part II, subjects such as nanoparticles synthesis, physical characterization and modeling, experimental determination of heat dissipation under radiofrequency fields, and its correlation with the current modells will be presented. This work is intended as a guide because what is expressed therein gives a series of important guidelines to take into account when making a research on magnetic nanoparticles.

The present study evaluated numerically and experimentally in a 20 kW furnace (using natural gas as fuel and with an equivalent ratio of 1.2) the stability of the flameless combustion regime due to the fluctuation of the thermal load through the use of different air flow (43 scfm, 63 scfm y 83 scfm) and an Air-Helium mixture (Air 82.02 scfm and Helium 7.06 scfm); the last one it was used to evaluate the behavior of the system in the face of an increase in the load fluid specific heat capacity. The study was divided in two parts, numerical simulation and experimental phase. From the numerical simulation was calculated the temperature profile, CO profile, the recycle ratio Kv and the mass of flue gases recirculated. In the experimental phase the temperature profiles obtained showed a decrease in the temperature of the combustion chamber as the load air flow increased however, this decrease did not affect the thermal uniformity inside of the furnace. Furthermore the useful efficiency showed an increase when went over from a load air of 43 scfm to 63 scfm, followed by a decrease of it with the other load flows.

En este articulo se analiza el comportamiento local y global de un sistema dinamico suave a trozos en dos variables, estudiando el flujo de dos sistemas dinamicos lineales no homogeneos que conmutan con las fronteras de una banda de histeresis. Analiticamente se determinan las soluciones de equilibrio y los dominios parametricos que garantizan la existencia de orbitas periodicas entre la banda. Se realizan simulaciones numericas para obtener los retratos de fases y los dominios de atraccion con diferentes valores de los parametros. Los resultados muestran la coexistencia de multiples estados estacionarios de diferente tipo para determinados valores de los parametros.
