A high quality image can be synthesized by combining several differently exposed low dynamic range (LDR) images of the same scene. For scenes under low lighting condition, cameras are usually set to high sensitivity mode to reduce exposure times and avoid motion blur on captured images. However, those images tend to be noisy and the noise severely degrades the visual quality of final image especially on dark areas. In this paper, a weighted frame averaging method based on an intensity mapping function (IMF) is proposed to reduce noise from the input LDR images with shorter exposures. The proposed method does not require any knowledge on either camera response functions (CRFs) or exposure times, and it is much simpler than the state-of-art method. Experiment results also show that the proposed method effectively removes the noise from the shortly exposed LDR images without introducing any blurring or other artifacts.

The effect of carrier's air wake, which causes severe landing error, even landing failure, is not avoidable during carrier-based aircraft landing. At the same time, carrier's air wake is certainly affected by sea states. From now on, there is no research or paper discussing this phenomenon. The effects of the sea states on air wake are studied in the first time in this paper, and finally got some conclusions. Every component model of carrier air wake was built, which could be used to build the relationships between the air wake and the sea states. According to the models, the wind over deck, the pitch amplitude of carrier, and the pitch frequency are critical factors causing the variety of air wake as sea states are changed. The simulation results show that the carrier air wake is affected severely by sea states. The steady carrier-wake turbulence and the periodic ship-motion-induced turbulence are influenced more significantly, especially for the periodic component. The research results of this paper have important effect on the further studying of landing safety and air wake rejecting.

The proposed networked control and monitoring system based on industrial Ethernet has been successfully designed, installed, commissioned and completed in this paper. The system focused on reliable real-time communication transmission, intelligent management, automatic field & integrated control and data acquisition to support supervision of comprehensive information analysis. The hardware architecture and system philology design were introduced. Windows sockets and multi-threading technique to realize real-time and reliable transmission then were utilized in the system. This paper also emphasized the method that application accesses Windows system shared resources by utilizing I/O address redirection technique through Microsoft Network Client Software (MS-Client) under Disk Operating System (DOS) platform. The global production process status of the plant was supplied through monitoring system for managers to make better decision. Realtime, stability, reliability, safety of the whole system has been proved in practice.

Use of an optical lens with a freeform surface is a popular and flexible approach in the LED applications for uniform illumination. The lens topologies are flexible for design to achieve a desired illumination pattern. However, different topologies may have different powers against the misalignment of the light source. The misalignment problem was studied based on the ray-tracing simulation that is inefficient on the computer time. In this study, the problem of misalignment along the lens optical axis is analyzed and formulated by applying the perturbation analysis. The formulations developed are applicable for the problems with small misalignment and large misalignment as well. The superiority of the proposed analytical approach over the ray-tracing simulation approach is highlighted. The adequacy of the proposed formulations is confirmed by cross validation. Good consistency between the analysis and the simulation is demonstrated by examples.

The paper presents a novel ZVS buck converter topology. The proposed topology solves narrow duty cycle and hard switching problems of conventional buck converter in lower output voltage and higher output current. At the same times, the voltage stresses across main switches are also clamped at input voltage. In the topology, an adjustable inductor and a resonant capacitor are used to reduce charge voltage and extend the discharge time of filter inductor to achieve above target. To demonstrate the results, detailed steady-state analysis is presented. Finally, a 48V/1V, 10A simulation prototype is built to verify the theoretical analysis and shows the significant advantages.

This paper establishes a hardware-in-the-loop realtime simulation system of long stator linear synchronous motor (LSM) drive with neutral point clamp (NPC) 3-level AC-DC-AC converter for high speed maglev train. The dynamic model of the LSM supplied by two parallel converters is described in detail. Hardware configuration, simulation algorithms and system model based on dSPACE real-time simulation platform are proposed. The NPC 3-level rectifier and inverter, and LSM models are simulated independently. Furthermore, the LSM drive system can be simulated by cascading each model's input and output interfaces directly. It is an effective scheme to simplify the entire system model.

This paper develops two performance evaluation processes to measure the relative performance effectiveness and performance efficiency of projects based on their expected and actual performance objective values. With an optimization model, the performance effectiveness evaluation process obtains a set of optimal weights on the performance objectives of the project by maximizing the total performance effectiveness value of all projects. The relative performance effectiveness of each project is then obtained by using a weighted-sum method. With a data envelopment analysis model, the performance efficiency evaluation process provides relative performance efficiency rankings of projects and identifies how inefficient projects can be improved. An empirical study is conducted to demonstrate how these two processes work and how their outcomes can provide managerial insights in evaluating the performance of projects.

In this paper, we present a real time biologically motivated 3D motion classifier cells integrating the depth information generated from a stereo input implemented in an active vision system. The proposed approach is accurately able to detect and estimate multiple interfered 3D complex motions under the absence of predefined spatial coherence. Moreover, the system has ability to examine the response of input 3D motion vector fields to a certain 3D motion patterns (3D motion classifier cells) such as motion in the Z direction representing movements towards the system, which is very important to overcome typical problem in autonomous mobile robotic vision such as collision detection and inhibition of the ego-motion defects of a moving camera head. The output of the algorithm is part in a multi-object segmentation approach implemented in an active vision system.

A self-constructing fuzzy neural network (SCFNN) based on reinforcement learning is proposed in this study. In the SCFNN, structure and parameter learning are implemented simultaneously. Structure learning is based on uniform division of the input space and distribution of membership function. The parameters are trained by the reinforcement learning based on genetic algorithm. Several simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SCFNN control stratagem with the implementation of AC motor speed drive. The simulation results show that the AC drive system with SCFNN has good anti-disturbance performance while the load change randomly.
