The purpose of this article is to analyze the phenomenon of synesthesia in the context of information architecture. Synesthesia, as a phenomenon Paulina Kosobucka 28 of perception of sensations by various senses, can have a positive or negative impact on the reception of the message. Well-designed information will convince the recipient of the content. The creators of websites, applications, advertisements, and equipment try to integrate the senses in the message for the benefit of the recipient. In the information architect’s work, one can see many practical implications of synesthesia. The article, with some prognostic and futurological elements, is to initiate studies on this subject.

The article, based on selected examples, shows the parallelism of graphic designs created in Poland, addressed to the youngest audience and published in both paper codex books and digital internet projects. The visual „art of Monika Janusz-Lorkowska 56 the Internet” is inspired by a traditional book, and the latest picturebooks are inspired by the Internet and computer games. The visual similarity of children’s pictorial stories and educational messages in old (paper) and new (electronic) media, often made by the same authors, indicate mediamorphosis of content carriers and allow for smooth transitions between them, while dispelling some of the concerns related to the child’s participation in digital culture.

„Obrona Kultury”, a socio-cultural magazine, was published in Warsaw between 1938 and 1939. Its first issues appeared weekly and the next ones biweekly. The journal’s editor was Adam Szczepanik. This paper’s objective is to show an ephemeral magazine in the interwar years as a source of information about that period’s book market. In total 270 texts on the theme were identified in the magazine. The following thematic groups were addressed to publishing, librarianship, bookselling, reading, publications, writers, press, exhibitions, miscellany. Most frequently the magazine presented discussions on various publications – books, journals. Another group involved the texts which dealt with the issues related to publishing companies, both professional and non– professional. Further, the magazine provided information on the writers and the conditions of libraries. The texts may represent a supplement to bibliographic sources and contribute to a more complete overview of the book market in the

The periodical was published in 1934–1939 at the Trzaska, Evert and Michalski Bookshop Publishing House in Warsaw, edited by the philologist, literary critic, and publicist, Stanisław Lam. The structure of the magazine consisted of scholarly articles, reporting, and registration sections, as well as the Chronicle, which included minor mentions of the cultural life of the 1930s. On the basis of a critical analysis of the content of this section, ways of commemorating people of Polish culture – writers, literary researchers, translators, people connected with art and its patrons – were shown. The Chronicle most frequently informs about publications devoted to outstanding personalities, about research conducted on their lives and achievements, a little less frequently about various forms of promoting the achievements of people of culture, and sporadically about their legacy. : On the basis of European culture, the Vienna Workshops are one of the best-known examples of implementing the assumptions of the Arts and Crafts movement created in the 19th century. The activities undertaken by the artists associated with the Workshops have significantly contributed to the development of book art, especially the decoration of binding. While creating them, manual methods were returned, using the involvement of the best craftsmen – bookbinders or goldsmiths. Due to the significant impact of the Workshops’ activities on the book culture in Europe and the artistic value of their design binding, which is still valued today, this issue is discussed in the article based on the Max Morgenstern collection. The history of the creation of the Vienna Workshop was outlined, with particular emphasis on the bookbinding workshop, and the biography of M. Morgenstern, one of the best workshop customers. However, the main part of the article is to discuss the artistic solutions used in the design of the luminaires and show their application on the example of the collection in question. Issues of authorship and the specificity of materials that artists and craftsmen used in the Vienna Workshops will also be addressed.
