One of studies that plays a role in human identification in disaster and crime is forensic odontology. There are several methods of identification in forensic odontology, one of the alternative methods is cheiloscopy which is used to identify lip print pattern. Lip print pattern is identical in each person, lip print can identify gender and human race. Mentawai ethnic is a part of Proto-Melayu race which dominates Mentawai island district area. Familial relationship in Mentawai ethnic is patrilineal the tribe is derived from father’s tribe. This study aimed to compare the shape of lip print pattern between Mentawai original ethnic and Mentawai mixed ethnic. This study is a descriptive study with cross-sectional approach. The samples in this study were 16 pairs of Mentawai ethnic and 16 pairs of mixed Mentawai ethnic, the sample were selected using purposive sampling method. Lip print in study models were marked using colour pen, and the shape pattern of lip prints were observed and measured according to Suzuki and Tsuchihashi classification. Results of this study showed that there are differences in the pattern of lip prints between Mentawai ethnic and mixed Mentawai ethnic. Mentawai ethnic has dominan type of lip prints is type I, type II, and type IV while mixed Mentawai ethnic has dominan type of lip prints is type IV, type I, dan type III. The conclusion is there is a difference pattern of lip prints due to racial factors.

Root canal treatment aims to maintain the condition of the teeth in order to keep them functioning. In practice, the treatment procedure does not always run smoothly, the operator can face undesirable conditions that can affect the prognosis of treatment. A common procedural error during root canal treatment is a lateral root perforation which must be treated immediately to avoid further damage. The success of the perforation treatment is determined by the materials used. One of the bicompatible materials to seal lateral perforations using MTA (mineral trioxide aggregate). Successful root canal treatment affects treatment outcomes, so proper restoration is required to reduce the risk of marginal leakage. The choice of final restoration in post-root canal treatment depends on the amount of remaining tooth structure, horizontal pressure and chewing load. For post-root canal treatment anterior teeth with intact marginal edges, direct restoration can be performed using composite resin

Dental caries is one of the most common problem that can be found in both adults and children. Dental caries in primary teeth on children aged 0-71 months is known as Early Childhood Caries (ECC). Reports by Global Burden of Disease Study 2015 caries on primary teeth ranks 12th which affects as many as 560 million children worldwide. There are many predisposition factors that cause ECC, which are closely related to food consumption such as food snacking. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between food snacking consumption and Early Childhood Caries on children aged 2-5 years old in Padang. This study used a cross sectional design, with total sampel of 107 children aged 2-5 years in Padang. The location was selected through Stratified Random Sampling Method and samples was selected through Consecutive Sampling Method. Data was collected by using food frequency questionares and intra-oral examination that were analyzed by Chi-Square test with p<0.05. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between food snacking and ECC (p=0.000). The conclution of this study was that food snacking consumption is associated with Early Childhood Caries on children aged 2-5 years in Padang.

Red Ginger extract and Aloe vera mouthwash formulae have an antibacterial properties. The Red Ginger extract contains of gingerol, essential oil, terpenoid, fenol, flavonoid, and the Aloe vera mouthwash formulae contains of aloe berbadensis. This compound can be used in inhibition against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus that cause infections. The method of this research is a laboratory experimental. The Red Ginger extract prepared by maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. The Aloe vera mouthwash formulae is the ready stock. Discs soaked into two groups solution for 15 minutes, then placed on MHA media contain Staphylococcus aureus to see the inhibition power. The result showed that the Red Ginger extract and Aloe vera mouthwash formulae show the inhibiting power with a strong category. The average diameter inhibiting power of Red Ginger extract is 10,75 mm and Aloe vera mouthwash formulae is 12,82 mm. Independent Sample T-test showed the significance value is 0,00 (p<0,05). The conclusion of this reasearch is that the Aloe vera mouthwash formulae is more effective than Red Ginger extract in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus.

The prevalence of caries in Indonesia has increased by 53.53% from 2013 to 2018. Low salivary pH (potential of Hydrogen) is one of the main causes of dental caries. Acid as metabolic product of oral microorganism can decrease the salivary pH. The purpose of this paper is to determine the effect of gargling with green and black tea solutions on salivary pH. The increasing of salivary pH linear to salivary secretion. Gargling with green tea or black tea is one of the ways that can increase salivary secretion and pH by provides a mechanical and chemical stimulus to the oral cavity. Green tea and black tea contain polyphenols (catechins) which can increase salivary pH. Conclusion is gargling with green tea and black tea solutions can add salivary pH. Gargling with green tea is more effective to increase salivary pH than black tea. Green tea has a higher catechins content than black tea, in order to anti-cariogenic and anti-bacterial properties are more common in green tea.

The design of this study is the Cross Sectional Study. This study was conducted to 53 postmenopausal women in Kelompok Wanita Tani in Kecamatan Lubuk Alung Kabupaten Padang Pariaman in Desember 2012. The data was collected through questionnaires and examinations of OHIS index and gingival index by chi-square analysis. The results showed that the majority (43,4%) postmenopausal women in Kelompok Wanita Tani had a moderate oral hygiene and also (45,3%) had a moderate of gingivitis. The gum looks pale or red about (75,5%) and easy to bleed about (56,6%). Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) bridge is the most of treatment that commonly used as a fixed partial dentures. One of the indication for PFM bridge is to replacing the loss of posterior teeth. This case report discussed about the treatment of posterior missing teeth with PFM bridge. Objective: to explain the clinical procedures of PFM bridges to treat the patient with posterior missing teeth. Case report: A 29-years old woman came to prosthodontic clinic in Faculty of Dentistry University of Padjadjaran with chief complaint of right maxillary posterior missing teeth. The treatment planning that have been choosen for this case was the porcelain fused to metal bridge due this excellent characteristic of resistence to mastication force compared with other types of bridge such as all ceramic or all acrylic bridge. Beside that, the aesthetic achievement of this kind of bridges is more excellent than all metal bridges. Disscussion: A spatial analysis, calculation the number of abutment against which used, and selected design bridge very determine the success of this treatment. In addition to that, the clinical procedures consisting of abutment teeth preparation, an accurate impression, and appropriate cementation were needed to get the satisfactory result. Conclusions: The porcelain fused to metal bridge is a appropriate option for posterior missing teeth treatment that fullfil satisfactorical biomechanical and esthetic factors.

Anterior teeth appearance were assessed by interviewer using the Aesthetic Component of the IOTN. Psychosocial impact was measured through a self-rated Psychosocial Impact of Dental Aesthetics Questionnaire (PIDAQ). Data analysis included Spearman correlation test. Significant associations were observed between anterior teeth appearance using Aesthetic Component of IOTN and total score PIDAQ (p < 0,001), dental self-confidence (p < 0,001), social impact (p < 0,05), psychological impact (p < 0,05), and esthetic concern (p < 0,05).
