: The basic purpose of this study is to examine the association of ownership structure (OS) with value of business firms (VBF). By using panel date techniques, the relationship between OS and VBF has been statistically tested. OS is used as an explanatory variable, whereas, for mea-suring VBF, accounting base performance measures (short term performance) includes return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) and market base performance (long term performance) has been measured through Tobin’s Q. The study also emphasizes the firm age as an interactive variable. Ownership role is examined from the perspective of agency theory (AT) and by using resource dependence theory (RDT). The sample consists of 135 companies and having 1890 obser-vations of non-financial sector listed on Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) for the time period 2004 to 2017. Researchers has applied descriptive and inferential statistics techniques to analyze the gathered data. Findings reveal that some dimensions of OS significantly influence the short term and long run firm performance (FP) under interactive role of age. The study aims at contributing useful knowledge generally for the financial community, and specifically for investors, researchers, and regulators.

Measuring employee performance of high-tech engineering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of a developing country is meagre in the literature of organizational studies. Therefore, this paper analyzes a) the effect of teamwork on employee performance; and b) how supervisor support moderates the relationship between teamwork and employee performance. Using a cross-sectional survey in a non-contrived field-study setting, a useable sample of 273 responses is drawn from different high-tech engineering SMEs of Karachi (Pakistan). Common method variance bias is tested using Harman single factor and common latent factor methods. The measurement model demonstrates good internal consistency reliability, convergent and discriminant validity. Hypotheses are tested using variance-based partial least square structural equation modeling technique. PLS predict algorithm suggests high out-of-the sample predictive validity of the structural model. The results show that teamwork has a significant effect on employee performance and supervisor support moderates the positive relationship between teamwork and employee performance such that an increase in supervisor support strengthens the positive relationship between teamwork and employee performance. The findings suggest that the management of SMEs should institutionalize such working practices which could reinforce the culture of teamwork for the managerial employees. Moreover, it is also essential for the management to emphasize more on providing meaningful supervisor support to all managerial employees because it would certainly strengthen the relationship between teamwork and employee performance. This study extends generalizability of the positive relationship between teamwork and employee performance to the high-tech engineering SMEs of Pakistan. Limitations and directions for future studies are also discussed.

: The purpose of this research is to investigate different factors of employee’s job motivation in the public sector commercial banks of Pakistan. Using a mixed method approach primary data were collected through survey questionnaires and interviews from 263 employees working in 4 large sized commercial banks of Pakistan. Findings reveal that perceived compensation fairness and job design are positively associated with the job motivation of bank employees. Moreover, the working environment plays a significant mediating role in the relationships between (i) compensation fairness and job motivation, and (ii) job design and job motivation. The statements derived from the interviews of employees working in the public sector commercial banks have further validated our results. The study also discusses the Policy guidelines, theoretical and practical implications, and limitations. As such, important implications have been accentuated for the top management and policy makers of the public sector commercial banks to ponder over the issues raised in the study.

This research examines relationships among customer focal antecedents, seller focal antecedents, customers feeling of gratitude, and norms of reciprocity. The two-fold objectives of this research are; 1.To investigate role of customer focal and seller focal antecedents in development of reciprocity; 2.To analyze mediating role of customers feelings of gratitude in development of norms of reciprocity. The proposed hypotheses are tested with dyadic data set. The data is collected from both parties (buyer and seller) in the relationship from multiple sectors e.g., Food, Apparel, Financial, Medical and Travel agents. The dyadic data is analyzed with Partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), because the nature of the data supports this analysis technique. The results highlight that both customer focal and seller focal antecedents have positive impact on customers’ feelings of gratitude; additionally, customer focal antecedents directly leads to norms of reciprocity whereas seller focal antecedents leads to norms of reciprocity via feelings of gratitude as mediator. The research results provide fundamental support to interpersonal relationship marketing model. Theoretically this research validates and extends the interpersonal relationship marketing model by incorporating reinforcement theories of interpersonal attraction, and both buyer and seller perspective with dyadic data set; moreover, this research validate the thought that seller focal antecedents in relationship stimulate the customers emotions which is paid in form of reciprocal behavior and long-term relationship chain starts. From managerial perspective this research helps managers to understand the importance of seller customer focal and seller focal antecedents in relationships for reciprocal customers’ behavior.

: The fundamental objective of this study is to estimate for basic trade elasticity and assess the impact of trade liberalization on Pakistan’s import demand in bilateral case for a sample of selected countries. In sample, countries are selected from both the developed and developing world on account of their greater share in Pakistan’s total imports. The method of autoregressive distributed lag model with a new strategy is performed using annual data for the time period of 1982-2016. Results indicate that co-integration exist in all bilateral cases. The domestic income is statistically significant determinants both in short and long run with expected positive signs and their estimates are highly elastic. The estimates of income coefficient range from 1.54 to 7.42 which indicate that as the economy grows, Pakistan, imports from trading partners also surge with greater velocity. The price is according to the expected signs i.e. negative and insignificant in most cases, except in the case for Japan and Indonesia where it is significant but inelastic i.e. the coefficient value is looking less than 0.6 in all cases. In nutshell the trade liberalization impact is looking positive and statistically significant in many country cases. However, these effects are different for each era of trade liberalization and vary from country to country level. This is indeed the case, where different import policies need to implement rather than a single trade policy to supervise excessive imports of the country.

Effective utilization of agricultural credit effects repaying behavior of farmers and in turn leads towards non-performing loans (NPLs). The NPLs decrease profitability of banks and decrease financial credibility and motivation of farmers. This paper aims to determine the factors which may influence delay in loan repayment among small scale farmers in Sahiwal zone, Pakistan. Proportionate random sampling technique has been adopted by which 110 defaulters were randomly selected from 11 branches of Zarai Taraqiati Bank (ZTBL), which is a leading agriculture development bank of Pakistan. In addition, 30 credit officers were selected from each branch of ZTBL. The primary data was collected through survey of credit officers and small-scale borrowers using structured questionnaires. Finally, the data was summarized using descriptive statistics. The results indicate that input prices, non-farm expenses, high interest rate, loan beneficiary is different, Bank’s SAM policy are major reasons of bank default among small scale farmers. The findings are important for banks management and those involved in policy making related to effective utilization of agriculture credit and reduction in NPLs in agriculture sector in Pakistan.

This research analyses the importance of recognizing cultural factors in order to shape CSR Perceptions of employees to derive higher levels of employee's engagement. Hofstede's five cultural dimensions were explored in Pakistani context through a thorough review of the literature on the relationship between national culture, CSR Perceptions and employee's engagement, which were then contextually presented in the form of a hypothesized model. Primary data collection was done by administering questionnaires to 192 employees from technological industry of Pakistan. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) using latest ADANCO Software was employed to statistically validate the relationship between the variables. This paper provides conceptual contribution by focusing on the identification of the most significant and relevant cultural dimensions affecting employee's CSR Perceptions and engagement in the context of Pakistan and countries with similar cultural context. Findings of this paper indicate that understanding cultural context of a particular country is crucial for enhancing the perceptions of employees regarding the CSR initiatives being practiced by the organization. This generates employees who are more engaged and productive in their work; hence, it turns advantageous for the employer and employee alike. These findings provide guidelines for the practitioners and managers so that they can capitalize their efforts in a more efficient way by making employees aware of the CSR activities taking forward by them according to the cultural orientations of workforce and reap the desired benefits out of it.
