La actual estructura socioeconomica de la isla de La Palma (Islas Canarias), dependiente en gran medida del sector publico y de las ayudas institucionales, esta generando un progresivo declive economico y perdida de poblacion a escala insular. Como respuesta a la crisis por la que atraviesa el sector primario y de la previsible reduccion de ayudas al platano –principal sector productivo en la isla– en la actualidad, desde la esfera politica se trata de dinamizar el tejido productivo insular apostando abiertamente por un turismo vinculado al paisaje y al espacio rural, como sector estrategico en torno al cual construir un modelo de desarrollo equilibrado y sostenible. In response to the crisis that the primary sector is going through and the foreseeable reduction of aid to bananas –the main productive sector on the island– nowadays, from the political sphere, it is about boosting the productive fabric of the island by openly betting on tourism linked to the landscape and the rural space as a strategic sector around which to build a model of balanced and sustainable development.

Etiopia es un pais fascinante situado en la zona conocida como “Cuerno de Africa”. Con una superficie superior a 1,1 millones de km 2 y una poblacion no del todo conocida por los problemas de recuento censal propios de los paises subdesarrollados, pero que podria rondar los 105 millones de habitantes, es un pais federal que engloba culturas y lenguas diferentes, paisajes deslumbrantes y monumentos poco reconocibles inicialmente como del continente africano. La visita al pais, que tuve la oportunidad de realizar en abril-mayo de 2019, me aporto una de las experiencias mas intensas en mi dilatada carrera como viajero.

AbstractUsing Guy Debord’s reaction to the Watts Rebellion of 1965 as a starting point, this article considers Situationism as an agonistic approach to power. The prime focus is on the spectacle, as it should be: by collating every force of production with every product of capitalism, Debord depicts the spectacle as a monopoly of spatial production, even in those spaces that ostensibly reject it. Out-of-focus, in the background and off-camera, those opposed to the spectacle are building an alternative social model as they ought to be, where freedom and economics are cooperatively achieved. I illustrate this dialectic with riots and protests that have occurred in the Spring of 2020, both claiming freedom from within the spectacle.

La necesidad de custodia de la costa de Granada, especialmente a partir del siglo XVI, motivo la construccion de fortalezas sucesivas que formaban parte de un complejo programa defensivo que duro siglos. A medida que paso el tiempo y aunque aumentaron los peligros, algunas de estas construcciones cayeron en desuso y fueron tristemente abandonadas, e incluso desaparecieron. El objetivo de esta investigacion es recopilar y analizar la informacion disponible, principalmente en la cartografia de la epoca, permitiendo la localizacion, identificacion y proteccion de los restos arqueologicos de la bateria de Varadero.

EnglishAbstract-Cultural itineraries are considered as alternatives to foster the development of a region, especially considering the cultural rescue that can be provided by them. Culture is also seen as a good that can be used to remedy the socioeconomic problems of the territories when activating or reacting social and economic systems such as education, tourism, artisanal production, among others. Thus, this study presents a cultural itinerary proposal for the fringe of the western border of Mato Grosso and which is characterized by a series of socioeconomic indicators that demonstrate its fragility. The purpose of this work is born from a research project of cultural identity of the frontier of the Master of Regional Development and Productive Systems (PPGDRS) of the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UEMS) in order to develop development mechanisms suitable for the territory. After a step of identifying the local reality, a bibliographic and cartographic revision of the region was carried out to know its history since the colonial period. In this phase you can find various materials, documents, maps that ensure the presence of an ancient path that crossed the territory from north to south. The region of this itinerary is strongly marked by the culture of yerba mate, the interaction between ethnicities and multiple cultures. The path presented is shown in the historical documents as an important way of access throughout the process of historical economic formation of the region.
