The Covid-19 pandemic having been spreading throughout the world has resulted in the emergence of various literary works with the aim of educating the wider community on how to anticipate it. One form of literary work helping educate and is well responded to by the community, especially school-aged children, is comics. Comics are very effective in attracting people to listen and read since the information is conveyed in attractive pictures and in easily digestible language. The comics written are translated into various languages so that people in the regions and speakers of other languages can receive the messages conveyed through the comics in question. Identifying the advantages of comics in educating the prevention of Covid-19 around the world, this research focuses on examining the process of translating a comic by Weiman Kou into Balinese. Translation is an effective way to develop learning, not only in college but also in the wider community environment. This study examines the procedure for translating comics by graduate students of linguistics. The results showed that the comic was translated by literal, calque, and borrowing procedures. In order to achieve quality translation results, it is suggested that translating does not only apply three types of procedures but also many other types of procedures, including communicative and idiomatic procedures. By applying these procedures, the message conveyed is perceived the same to both the source language reader and the target language reader.

This study reveals the semantic fields from the "to see" verb in Javanese. The aims of this research is to describe the shape, function, meaning and role of semantic of each variant of the verb "to see". To realize this goal, qualitative research design was applied in this study and the semantic role theory of Vole and Van Valin (1984). Was also oriented in data analysis. Verbs that have semantic fields that are associated with the "to see" verb with intentional entities numbering 33. Each of them is ndêlok, ndêlêng, ningali, mirsani, ndeleng sacleraman, ndêlêng tênanên, ningali saestu, mirsani saestu, ningali sekedhap, mirsani sekedhap, mlengos, ngwasi, ngêmatake, ngematakên, ndhangak, dingkluk, nginceng, ngêlirêk, mêntêlêngi, ndelok mburi, and maca. The semantic roles of the arguments of each verb consist of agents and themes. This study only sheds light on the meaning field verb "to see" of the type of variant and a little about the general semantic role. For this reason, a more detailed study of the specific role of each variant of the verb is a topic that can be raised in the next study.

The title of this research is Values of Life in Mitch Albom’s Tuesday With Morrie. This research focuses on analyzing the types of values which are found in novel Tuesday With Morrie. This study aims to analyze the types of value of live on the novel Tuesday With Morrie and describe its implementation in human’s life. There are four methods of research used in this paper, they are: finding data resource, collecting and clasifying the data, analyzing the data, and the last is presenting the result of the analysis. All of the data used in the research are taken from Albom’s Tuesday With Morrie. The result of the analysis showed that in general there are two kinds of value found, they are entertainment value and educational value. Based on the educational value, there are three values found, such as society and civilizations value, moral – ethic – religion value, and practical value. The result of the study also showed that all of the all datacan be implemented in daily human’s life.

Different procedures of translation are needed to analyze new testament bible of Mark’s gospel. The problems always come if new testament bible of Mark’s gospel from source language unknown in target language conceptly. The data sources of this research were taken from new testament of Mark’s gospel. The technique used in collecting the data was content analysis. The data were analyzed clearly based on the theory of translation procedures by Newmark (1988b). In presenting the data, it was used formal and informal method. According to the results, it can be concluded that found 11 procedures of translation, namely: Transference, Cultural Equivalent, Functional Equivalent, Descriptive Equivalent, Synonymy, Shifts or Transpositions, Modulation, Compensation, Paraphrase, Couplets, and Notes. Based on the results of the analysis, it was not found 4 procedures of translation, namely: Naturalization, Componential Analysis, Through-Translation, and Recognized Translation. The procedures of translation in new testament bible of Mark’s gospel mostly used were shifts or transposition, modulation, and synonymy. The data of shifts or transposition found were 136 of 636 data (21%). It can be concluded that actually holy text often applied shifts or transposition to make the process of translating text easily. In the other word, it was used different form from source text to translate into target text and it was applied also the words in target text that has similar meaning in source text,

Music is one of the way to express emotions, opinions, and also criticism. The lyrics helps us to communicate, and spread its story. Argot in rap song is a sociolinguistic phenomenon that spreads in all languages, including French. The author conducted this study with the aim of knowing the formation of argot used, the meaning behind, and what correlation it has with situation in Marseille. The writer uses descriptive analysis method and theories that support this research are the theory of sociolinguistics and the process of forming argot Calvet (1994), as well as the theory of meaning Baylon and Mignot (1995). The conclusion contains apocope, apheresis, suffixation, and metonymy. The most uses type of formation is metonym. Metonym can deliver a figurative meaning to achieve dramatic effect, but still maintain its secretive nature. Argot has a relation with how singer express their situation and condition within their lyrics.

Children’s story books serve not only as a medium of verbal communication but also as that of non-verbal one. Messages conveyed through children’s story books will not be attracting to children if not accompanied by their non-verbal forms, such as pictures and symbols. Therefore every story book should be able to influence the child psychologically through pictures or symbols. This in turn affects the process of translating children’s storybook texts, including in determining translation techniques. This study examines the technique of translating Balinese children’s story books from English into Indonesian. This study was conducted with a qualitative research design. The results of the study show that the translation of Balinese children’s textbooks is mostly done literally using simple language. The writing children’s story books emphasizes the presentation of non-verbal forms of communication to foster and maintain their interest in reading. The writing and translation of children’s story texts is based on consideration of their psychological aspects so that the translator avoids the use of complicated words.

This research is of two objectives, which are to examine the functions of Penebel Community’s expressions of prohibition and to reveal the meanings of the expressions. This research was conducted using qualitative research design. Data were collected by visiting the farmers’ habitats, observing their activities while recording using voice memo app in gadget, and conducting interviews to confirm the researchers’ understanding of the recorded messages. Results showed that the functions of Penebel inhabitants’ expressions of prohibition are informational and directives. Meanwhile the meanings of the expressions are both explicit and implied. The explicit meaning refers to the lexical meanings of the words that form it, which can be seen in the dictionary. The implied meaning is found based on the context of its use. Instead of containing illogical meanings and are considered to be out of date with the times, these phrases of prohibition needs to be preserved by providing their comprehensible meanings to the younger generation for they are a part of living culture and language.

This research aims to explore the accomplishment of politeness principles and the violation on the politeness principles in “Pak Guru Inyong” comic. This research was carried out using qualitative type of research. The data were collected by reading and taking notes from a 40 episode of the comic texts written by Anggoro Ihank and uploded in a Webstoon Aplication. The application was reached in Line application via android. The data were analyzed by using the theory of general strategy of politeness by Leech. The results of the analysis show that there are ten general strategies of politeness accomplished by the characters in the comic: generosity maxim, tact maxim, approbation maxim, and modesty maxim, obligation S to O maxim, obligation O to S maxim, agreement maxim, opinion maxim, sympathy maxim and feeling reticence maxim. There are five maxims violated by Pak Inyong, such as the maxims of generosity, approbation, modesty, agreement, feeling reticence.

Lexical cohesion has been a serious issue as it is one of the important features in a text. Every writer must consider kinds of lexical devices in writing a text and so do the translator. The main problem in translating the lexical cohesion devices is the different structure between two languages. One device can be applied in one language but not in other language. This journal analyzed the translation of reiteration as part of lexical cohesion devices appeared in the short stories The Black Cat and The Cask of Amontillado written by American writer, Edgar Allan Poe. The short stories were translated by two Indonesian translators namely Anton Kurnia and Shinta Dewi. This research is conducted to share the practice of translating literature works especially a short story which contains a lot of lexical cohesion devices and to give contribution to the development of translation as part of linguistic studies. In doing the research, qualitative and quantitative method is applied including observation, interviews, or document reviews. In the source text, it was found 120 of lexical cohesion devices in the short story ”The Cask of Amontillado” and 187 lexical cohesion devices in the short story “The Black Cat”. The results obtained from this research were that Anton Kurnia translated 73% of lexical cohesion devices in the source language into the target language. Meanwhile, Shinta Dewi translated 94% of lexical cohesion devices in the source text to the target text.

This research is conducted to share the practice of translating literature works especially a short story which contains a lot of lexical cohesion devices and to give contribution to the development of translation as part of linguistic studies. In doing the research, qualitative and quantitative method is applied including observation, interviews, or document reviews. In the source text, it was found 120 of lexical cohesion devices in the short story ”The Cask of Amontillado” and 187 lexical cohesion devices in the short story “The Black Cat”. The results obtained from this research were that Anton Kurnia translated 73% of lexical cohesion devices in the source language into the target language. To understand the learning style of the learners is important and useful to decide what learning strategy is the most suitable to be implemented. Considering that significance, this study aims at analysing learning style of students of Travel Business Management, Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Bali (Bali Tourism Institute). The data was collected through questionaire in which the contentc is the adaptation of VARK questionaire which was developed by Flemming (1993, in Pritchard, 2009). Data was analysed quantitatively through tabulation and then described qualitatively. As the result, the students are found to have different learning styles, namely 6 students (20,69%) are aural, 5 students (17,24%) have read/write learning style, 15 students (51,72%) are kinaesthetic, and 1 students to each has bimodal kinaesthetic Read/write-kinaesthetic, bimodal aural-kinaesthetic, and trimodal visual-aural-read/write. Based on the result, it can be proposed a recommendation to the teacher that the strategies of teaching have to facilitate all the learning styles own by the students to make them able to learn at their best.
