This study explores the relationship between peer attachment and emotional regulation in high school students at the Special State School in Salatiga, Indonesia, focusing on those with special needs. Utilizing a quantitative approach with a correlational design, the research involved 33 students selected through purposive sampling. The Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) were employed as measurement tools. Descriptive statistical analysis indicated that the majority of students exhibited high levels of peer attachment and moderate levels of emotional regulation. A positive correlation (r = 0.625, p<0.01) was found between peer attachment and emotional regulation, suggesting that higher peer attachment is associated with better emotional regulation skills. The study highlights the crucial role of peer relationships in the emotional and social development of students with special needs. Interviews with students revealed a preference for peer communication over family interaction, especially among those with hearing impairments and intellectual disabilities. However, challenges such as the reluctance to interact with people outside their community were noted, particularly among students with hearing impairments. The findings emphasize the need for educational strategies that foster positive peer interactions to enhance emotional well-being. Despite its focus on a single educational setting, the research offers valuable insights into the impact of peer relationships on emotional regulation, underscoring the importance of nurturing these interactions in special education contexts.

This paper explores the critical importance of guidance and counseling facilities in schools for optimal service delivery. With schools often overlooking the necessity of these facilities, it is imperative to shed light on the consequential deficiency in the delivery of such services, negatively impacting the academic trajectory and life skills development of students. The literature review methodology employed in this study delves into the conceptualization of guidance and counseling, the essential resources required, and the significant role of school administrators and BK (guidance and counseling) teachers in ensuring these facilities are available. The findings reveal the paramount importance of data collection instruments, data storage devices, service delivery tools, and BK room equipment for effective guidance and counseling. Furthermore, this study underscores the legislative mandates calling for the provision of these resources. Ultimately, this paper argues that optimal facilities, strategic planning, and collaboration between all school personnel are key to the successful implementation of guidance and counseling services in schools. The insights derived from this research are beneficial for school administrators, BK teachers, and policymakers, contributing to the enhancement of educational outcomes and the overall student experience.

This study investigates the relationship between social support and self-acceptance among mothers of children with intellectual disabilities. Utilizing a quantitative correlational design, it examines how perceived social support impacts self-acceptance in a sample of 59 mothers at Rumah Pintar Salatiga. The research employs the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support and Berger’s Self-Acceptance Scale, revealing that while most mothers receive moderate social support, a significant proportion struggle with self-acceptance. A positive correlation (r = 0.228, p < 0.05) was found between social support and self-acceptance, albeit accounting for only 5.2% of the variance in self-acceptance. This suggests that other factors also significantly influence self-acceptance. The findings align with existing literature, indicating the necessity of comprehensive support systems that address both emotional and practical needs. Methodological limitations include reliance on questionnaires distributed through schools without researcher supervision and the exclusion of digital platforms for data collection. The study emphasizes the need for diverse and inclusive data collection methods in future research and calls for more extensive support mechanisms, including counseling and peer support, to enhance the well-being of this often-overlooked population.

This research explores the relationship between Problem-Focused Coping and Academic Stress among students at Satya Wacana Christian University. In an academic environment where students face immense pressure, particularly during the thesis-writing phase, understanding how coping strategies impact stress levels is crucial. The study involves 145 students, predominantly female, from different faculties, who were surveyed using the Academic Stress Scale and Problem-Focused Coping Scale. The research adopts a quantitative approach with a correlational design to analyze the relationship between coping mechanisms and stress levels. Key findings indicate a diverse range of coping capabilities among students, with a majority scoring medium on the Problem-Focused Coping scale. However, a significant minority demonstrates high coping abilities, suggesting variable stress management skills as per Lazarus and Folkman’s transactional model. Alarmingly, 63% of the participants scored high in the Academic Stress category, underlining the prevalent stress challenges faced by students. Statistical analysis reveals a non-normal distribution of both coping and stress levels, hinting at unique stressors in the university environment. A significant negative correlation between Problem-Focused Coping and Academic Stress, as shown by Spearman’s rho results, supports the hypothesis that effective coping strategies can alleviate stress. The study contributes to the existing literature on stress management in academic settings by highlighting the protective role of Problem-Focused Coping against Academic Stress. It underscores the importance of developing robust coping strategies to aid students in managing academic pressures, particularly during critical phases like thesis writing. The findings also suggest the potential for interventions to enhance Problem-Focused Coping strategies, thereby supporting student well-being and academic success.

This research explores the intricate nature of self-concept, a pivotal element in human behavior and identity formation, encompassing beliefs, thoughts, and perceptions shaping individuals' understanding of themselves and their environment across physical, psychological, and social dimensions, influencing behavior and self-esteem. Focusing on junior high school students aged 13-18 in Bangka Belitung, the study employs a quantitative descriptive approach with 126 participants, employing Rahmat's theory (2013) to gauge self-concept facets. Outcomes reveal that 34% of students perceive their self-concept as moderate, while 4% hold positive views and 32% exhibit above-average self-concepts. Notably, gender-based disparities accentuate the need for tailored interventions. Identification of areas needing improvement via validity testing led to proposed classical guidance topics aimed at augmenting self-concept, including body care, confidence-building, and social interaction. Implications stress the significance of customized interventions, gender-aware strategies, and nurturing positive self-concept for comprehensive student growth, in alignment with educational experts' viewpoints, advocating self-awareness, constructive perspectives, and individualized assistance. These insights advocate holistic approaches to empower students on their path to self-acceptance, personal development, and holistic growth, echoing broader educational objectives and policies, reaffirming the pivotal role of classical guidance in molding students' self-concept.
