This paper presents a concept for testing camera based ADAS, in order to reduce time and cost in the development phase. By adapting an existing virtual environment for the camera system, identifying and enhancing the important features for the testing detection function, the testing ADAS shall record the virtual driving scenes and deliver the same results as in real environments. A method to generate the required flexible and low-cost virtual testing environment is the goal of this paper.

Since the energy conservation is a research focus and numerical control machining is prevalent, this study proposed a methodology to predict the energy consumption of a NC machining process based on NC code analyzing and virtual cutting simulation. The energy characterization model was testified for estimating power consumed by a NC machining on a milling center and the max error is 11.3%, which proves this method is promising to estimate energy consumption of a NC program.

Global manufacturing is constantly evolving and getting more competitive with time. This requires effective methods for system engineering, being able to perform Product Design and Production Development in a concurrent way. Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems (RMS) have been developed within modular frameworks to meet the dynamic manufacturing demand. This paper presents a scientific framework of a design tool that is capable of objectively registering development progression of new process modules for RMS. It uses `Qualitative Analysis' based on `Coding' combined with the method of `Structured Analysis Design Technique'. In five consecutive stages, the development progression is indexed. The method has been tested on a true case; monitoring the development of a 3D measuring probe for geometrical measuring.

This paper present a method for the calculation of elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) that can used in the dynamic analysis of rolling bearings. In EHL theory, it is generally assumed that the rolling element is subject to a constant load, but in the dynamic analysis of rolling bearings, the load is unknown. Based on geometry and position relation of rolling elements, the convergence criterion of EHL theory is modified to meet the need of dynamic analysis of rolling bearings. Then the multi-grid method is employed to study the EHL of a ball bearing. This method is proved by the results and it can be used in the dynamic analysis of rolling bearings.

Aiming at the inevitable machining errors in manufacturing processing, a modified life model, which is composed of regular Lundberg-Plamgren life model, Miner's linear cumulative damage theory and the concept of equivalent load state, for deep groove ball bearing was presented. Based on the proposed model, the effects of ball off size under different working conditions were investigated. In combination with machining error distribution theory, statistical analysis of bearing life was conducted. At last, 16008 deep groove ball bearing was selected to illustrate the modified life model. Through numerical calculation, the following conclusions can be drawn : 1) The life factors are normally distributed when the ball off sizes have normal distribution; 2) With the increasing of external load, the effect of ball off size on bearing fatigue life is weakened; 3) The effect of ball off size on bearing fatigue life is most obvious when bearing operates in a small negative radial clearance.

As the scheduling objective of taking the maximal profit of each task consisting of work pieces submitted bycustomers, a non-cooperation game model for batch scheduling is presented. In order to effectively find the Nash equilibrium point of the model, a strategy about multiple transport and gapless equivalent batch splitting is adopted. A hybrid adaptive genetic algorithm based on hill-climbing method is designed. A numerical case study is carried out to demonstrate the validity of scheduling methods.

To improve the positioning accuracy of a certain type of bridge gantry machining center, a positioning error compensation method based on support vector regression (SVR) is presented. After analyzing the influence of training data sets distribution, and pointing out that SVR may have a substandard performance when the training data are distributed sparsely at neighborhood of outliers or distributed in a small range, a training data sets constructing criterion is proposed. SVR is employed in position error compensation of a bridge gantry machining center to establish the model of the positioning error, actual positioning error compensation effects shows that the positioning accuracy and compensation operating efficiency are improved effectively.

Micro end-milling is a highly-efficient machining process and can be used to machine high hardness metal mold directly; therefore, it is applied to the machining of micro channel structures. There are conventional methods to fabricate the micro channels such as lithography, etching and laser processing; however, they have some demerits of high cost, limitation of materials and complex processes. Machining molds with micro channel structures for mixers using micro end-mills have been studied. According to recent study, ultra micro end-milling technology is required in order to improve the efficiency of mixers because the micro structures are double-layered channels. Tool breakage and micro burrs are issues due to diameter of the micro end-mill getting smaller. Machining characteristics using Φ 50 and 30 μm end-mill on 64 brass and STAVAX were studied in order to machine the micro complex channels. Tool stability and burrs were studied through analysis of the cutting force and cutting conditions. A micro-mixer mold with double-layered channel structures was machined.

The prediction of the temperature distribution and thermal deformation for motorized spindle dependent on time is critical in its design process .The thermo-structural model of a grinding motorized spindle is developed with accurate thermal boundary conditions of the spindle-bearing system based on experimental data and numerical calculation. The following thermal boundary conditions are improved: the heat transfer coefficient of natural convection between spindle surface and ambient air through heat flux measurement, the heat transfer coefficient of forced convection of cooling water by the simulation analysis. In addition, a method of heat distribution applied to the bearing model is proposed. The thermo-structural model with structural deformation constraints is validated experimentally based on the transient temperature of typical regions, the axial thermal deformation of the shaft and the thermal equilibrium time.
