Citation in academic writing used to demonstrate the authors’ knowledge to previous works in the same field of the study. Reporting verbs is one of the most fundamental components of citation in academic writing. This study investigated the frequency of the most used reporting verbs and their function in the Introduction sections of Master thesis written by Iraqi students. Francis (1996) verb groups and explanation were adapted to show the most used reporting verbs. The results show that the highest reporting verbs were found in using “Argue” group of reporting verbs, which suggest uncertainty or disagreement with the author’s line of argument. However, it appears that master students limited to much extent using Think group of verbs in writing the introduction section of their theses, this may be attributed to the master student’s tendency to use specific reporting verbs that did not allow to make a great degree of overlapping.

Accountability legislation such as No Child Left Behind and Every Student Succeeds Act ushered in an era of right-answer based reforms. Teachers, students, parents as well as community and corporate leaders lament the legislation’s negative impact on critical and creative thinking skills. Recent educational reform proposals focus on reversing the accountability trends. The change is propelling instructors at all levels to consider making contextually relevant pedagogical modifications. Business entities increasing resolve to adopt Agile Scrum principles offers educators an intriguing, authentic teamwork learning strategy. This article presents a business professor’s journey from content-driven to Agile Scrum’s context-embracing classroom instruction. Results from this action research affirm Agile Scrum principles that suggest engagement increases when instructors provide students flexibility, fast-paced opportunities to absorb content.

This study depends on the analysis content by used semio-sociological approach in the interpretation of proverbs through selection of a group of the Palestinian proverbs associated with the resistance dimension. Many studies of proverbs did not address this type of interpretation. Moreover, many of these studies were not up to the desired methodological level because of the proverb’s varied associations with the general life. In its sociological context, the proverb stemmed from a sensory human experience, expressed in simple language. It was able to portray the life of the human through their immersion into the action framework that awakened the collective conscience which rejected the oppressive reality, which drew the differing paths of the proverb and left some margin for explicating the current crisis and how to deal with it. Since the resistant proverb is a part of the cultural landscape, it was in harmony with the novel, poem, drawing and poetry in a revolting image that stressed confrontation as well as rejection of weakness and subjection. It also succeeded in expressing an identity that embodied awareness about the suffering of human reality in all its concise and deep dimensions and historical and social framework. Despite the fact that the proverb is subsumed under the duality of subjection and revolt, the two researchers opted to address the resistant side of it, through a Palestinian model whose space abounds in a movement that bestowed a deep constructivist dimension on the Palestinian landscape. This is parallel with the current objective contexts that the Palestinian society is undergoing. Therefore, this study proceeded along three results, the first results of the interpretive structure of the denotations of the proverb and its projections on the symbols of time and place, secondly the proverb denotations and projections on plantation, animals, the third of the interpretive structure of the denotations of the proverb and its projections on the humans.

This study evaluates how motivation influences the academic performances of university students. The sample includes 400 higher education students attending different universities in Saudi Arabia. The questionnaire was the data gathering method that was chosen by the researcher to complete this study. The study reveals that both intrinsic and extrinsic motivations positively impact the academic performance of students. Academic performance increased by a percentage increase of between 23% and 34 %. Overall, the model showed a significant jump (p<0,05). The researcher found that the individual elements associated with extrinsic motivation -- rejection of alternative options: increase by 17%; career and qualifications: increase by 9%; social enjoyment: increase by 7%; social pressure: increase by 4%. The researcher also found that both intrinsic and extrinsic motivations are critical elements in the academic success of students and student's performances that tend to consistently fluctuate between good and average/poor. Their performance seems to be guided by the presence of an external reward. Further studies are needed to determine if intrinsically motivated students can be further motivated.

There is no doubt that the successful public finances are the ones which achieve development that accommodate all the economic, social, political and other dimensions. This is what the Omar’s fiscal policy was able to do in a short time, and in an unprecedented way This policy has inherited a deteriorating financial system due to the fact that many excesses and irregularities were caused by the successors of the Bani Umayyad before him. This in turn caused political unrest and social divisions that led to a deficit in the fiscal budget. The researcher concluded that Caliph Omar bin Abdulaziz was able to get rid of the budget deficit through plans he adopted in the aspect of revenues and expenditures, which were generally represented in adherence to the legislation contained therein, providing flexible facilities and plans to manage them, and working to expand the circle of social spending and eliminate cases of administrative corruption. The researcher recommends conducting research to study age- based financial plans to avoid economic inflation, as well as specialized research to establish departments for financial revenues that governments have abandoned today, such as zakat and tax)kharaj)

This research aims at studying the phenomenon of color in the poetry of Omar Abi Risha, and stating the level of employing such phenomenon in his poetry. Hence, the poet Abu Risha has a unique experience in adopting color as an important element in the artistic formation of his poetry. Therefore, the importance of this research stems from showing the connotations of colors in the poetry of Abu Risha, and showing the aesthetic dimension that such connotations achieve by diving into the depths of words that denote colors, so as to reveal such connotations for the purpose of reaching what is touring in the poet's Soul, and what he carries in his inner side of hidden meanings. Accordingly, this research deals with Abu Risha's attitude towards colors and the underlyin semantic purposes that they refer to according to a descriptive and analytical approach. Furthermore, I discovered while doing the research that the poet used colors in his poetry extensively, an in particular red and black colors, which occupied the largest part of his poetic works; in addition to the connotations intended by him by using the expressions indicating colors in his poems, either directly or I directly.

This study aimed to reveal the difference between adverbial of degree in Arabic and adverbial of degree and range in Chinese from meaning and form, and focused mainly on analyzing the differences of adverbial of degree both in Arabic and Chinese, and indicated the problems that should be paid attention to in the process of Chinese translation. The analytical, descriptive and inductive approaches were used in the study, as the analysis and clarification were carried out through four chapters under the supervision of the aforementioned approaches. And the study reached a set of results, the most important of which are: the Arabic adverbial of degree is equal to the Chinese adverbial of degree in terms of meaning; there is a clear difference between them in terms of form; the practical application during Chinese translation is not only influenced by the expressive habit, but also by other elements such as context, artistic beauty, etc. therefore the recommendations and proposals given in the study cannot be considered a viable solution to all problems. Rather, they are considered as a beacon of enlightenment for specialists or those loving comparative study between these two great languages.
