Thе article focuses on the study of nonverbal behavior of serial killer characters, including prosodic communicative components. Research is carried out on the material of the American thrillers of the XX century, including Robert Bloch’s trilogy «Psycho», «Psycho II» and «Psycho House», B. E. Ellis «American psycho», S. King «Misery», T. Harris «The silence of the lambs», P. Highmith «The Talented Mr. Ripley» and J. Paterson «Along Came a Spider». Prosodic components such as coughing, speech errors, pauses are analysed. Findings show that coughing is aimed at attracting attention; speech errors point to the discrepancy between the words and thoughts of the serial killer characters; pauses are used to increase the time for reflection before the next statement. The combination of prosodic component with other non-verbal elements, as well as its interaction with verbal components is studied.

The article outlines the peculiarities of humor of the original cinematic texts in «Brooklyn 9-9» series and their translation, as well as analyzes the most typical errors and causes of their occurrence. The «Brooklyn 9-9» series is full of jokes that can be classified as dark or so-called black humor. In the cinematic discourse films filled with such kind of humor are called black comedies. The latter is well-deservedly considered to be one of the most difficult genres of cinema. It is iconic for black comedies to incorporate jokes about different sacred things, such as race, human nature, diseases, funerals, disabilities, death, values and desires whilst this kind of humor is usually forbidden in a more formal setting. When working with cinematic text containing elements of black humor, a translator faces a serious number of problems and tasks. To render a source text into a target language adequately, it is important to identify the genre-stylistic dominant of the cinematic text, and to reproduce story-forming speech acts in different contexts. For black comedy cinematic texts chronotopic, characterological, compositional and lexical-semantic contexts will be relevant. According to these, the examples of black humor and puns in «Brooklyn 9-9» series were analyzed.

The article outlines the most characteristic features of existentialism as an artistic phenomenon in the world literature, emphasizes the features of Ukrainian existentialism, which is characterized by its national peculiarity. The special attention is devoted to the particularities of the perception of revolutionary reality by various types of characters of B. Antonenko-Davidovich's early period creativity. A separate emphasis is placed on the contrast between the two types of consciousness, which in the author’s works forms a kind of opposition and is the link that connects the works of the early and post-rehabilitation periods of the author's prose. On the background of the “Vartovyi Chapenko” (“Guard Chapenko”) essay, a transitional element between the two types formed by the revolutionary heroes is drawn, whose tragedy determined the misunderstanding of the true essence of the Bolshevik system. On the basis of the “Synia Voloshka” (“Blue Flute”) story an existential model of self-understanding in the world is analyzed; it was discovered that such a way of self-identification is oppositional to the requirements of the contemporary society; it focuses on the destruction of the bright ideals and the appeal of hero-defenders to such existential categories as "alienation", "death", "absurdity". It has been proved that existential motives become distinctive markers of B. Antonenko-Davidovich's prose.

The principles of transformation of folklore material and features of its assimilation by literature are considered. The opinions of many famous scientists and teachers on the use of folklore in the education of children are analyzed. It is determined that the Ukrainian literary fairy tale contains a considerable reserve of creativity for working with children, as well as developing their morality. It teaches children common to mankind values, thus forming a character trait such as self-esteem. The fairy tale prepares a child for a future life in the real world and shows examples of overcoming difficulties. It forms the moral qualities that will remain with the child for life. With the help of a fairy tale, the child develops moral and aesthetic feelings. Her potential includes a source of morality and at the same time is a popular means of upbringing. It promotes the formation of certain values, an ideal. The ideal for a child is a long-term perspective, which one she will strive, checking her affairs and deeds with her. An ideal, acquired in childhood, will in many ways define it as a person. It is concluded that the effectiveness of using the Ukrainian literary fairy tale in the moral and aesthetic education of children is verified in practice and very productive.

The article analyzes dynamic landscape that performs an important philosophical and psychological function in the poems of the French and Ukrainian authors, it helps them to express their emotions and reflections on the large-scale natural disasters that happened in Portugal and Hungary and caused great damage to the cities and led to the deaths of local residents. The authors also expressed condolences to the inhabitants in their works, because they worried about the fate of people, regardless of age, sex and social status, both poems permeated with sincere humanistic feelings. The poets tried to show and convince the readers that humanity is powerless and can not withstand the destructive energy of the nature. Landscapes in poetic works fulfill an important aesthetic and psychological function, help the authors to reveal emotions, mood, reflection, inner emotional experiences to the recipient, to adjust to the perception of joyous or sad information, and also indicate the geographical location of a particular event. Dynamic landscape in both poems is an important tool for representing reality and expressing authorial reflections of the power of the nature, which can be devastating and extremely dangerous to people. The titles of the works indicate the places of real events (Portuguese Lisbonin Voltaire’s poem and Hungarian Buda and Pestin Symeon Lysynetskyi’s poem).

This paper considers headlines of German-language news articles and their functions in present-day political discourse of mass media. The concept of "political communication" is specified and the main target trends in studying news headlines from a linguistic point of view are interpreted. The headline is a text sign with a very strong effect, it has the following characteristics: informativeness, modality, formal construction and semantic completeness, interpretability, polyfunctionality. The high tempo and the level of the IT development change the manner of presenting material by focusing mostly on the readers of Internet news to whom of special importance is the degree of the newness of some information or the special viewpoint under which an information event is covered. The data for research within the framework of this paper are the headlines of articles with political news on the Deutsche Welle website. To reveal the mechanism of the influence of headlines on political discourse construction, special attention is paid to their functional and structural peculiarities in contemporary media space. The main structural types of news headlines are two-member sentences, headlines in the form of questions, elliptical headlines and nominative headlines difering from each other in the manner of presenting information. The prevailing structural pattern of the headline in the German-language press is a two-member sentence with a direct word order, the number of the words varying from six to eight. In the course of the analysis of news headlines the most typical functions are described: nominative-informative, graphically-highlighting, informational, influencing, advertising and evaluative-expressive as well as integrative and searching functions of headlines. Briefness and structural rigidity are characteristic of German-language news articles. The following principles are typical of the news articles on the Deutsche Welle website: intensified visualization, strongly pronounced interactivity, simplicity and promptness.

The article is devoted to the analysis of images of the main characters of the spy in S. Postolovskyi’s novel «The Enemy, or the Wrath of God». It is emphasised on author’s traditional representations of the typical image of spy showed in the images of James Bond (by I. Fleming), George Smiley (by J. Le Carre) and Stierlitz (by Yu. Semenov). The author updates these images according to the realities of the present. It is determined that the participants of the operation «The God’s Wrath», depicted in the S. Postolovskyi’s novel, are very colorful figures, people that are ready to fight, but this desire to take revenge on the enemies of their country is based for each of them on personal reasons: the desire to get a higher post, to find out the truth about the work of the spy-saboteur and to determine their own place in the battle for their country, establish justice, and so on. The writer successfully combines the contradictory features of heroes and criminals in their characters, emphasizing their ambiguity, which makes them believable, living people, and not ideologically well-established figures. It was found out that the most ideologized image in the work is the figure of Captain Ivan Principle, the favorite S. Postolovskyi’s hero, who has already met in the previous writer’s works. The surname of this character is fully matched with his inner qualities: he is honest, fair, takes the attention of women, and in his actions he is always guided by the law and believes that the means do not always justify the goal. The author tried to bring out a new image of a spy, a modern hero who could become a sample for the young generation. It was also revealed that in the images of other ministers of the Office, who participated in the organization of Operation «The God’s Wrath», – General Bulldog, Colonel Myron and Captain Nechypailo – the writer depicted the typical representatives of his time, capable of high aspirations and courageous deeds, but at the same time they are typical executors of any order, often criminal, when it coincides with their notions of justice and duty. Thus, S. Postolovskyi presented his own vision of Ukraine’s fate in the «hybrid war» with Russia and those people whom the result of this war directly depends on. Since he can’t foresee the future, the author leaves his protagonists a tragic fate, just like life itself.
Semenov)。

Postolovskyi’s novel, are very colorful figures, people that are ready to fight, but this desire to take revenge on the enemies of their country is based for each of them on personal reasons: the desire to get a higher post, to find out the truth about the work of the spy-saboteur and to determine their own place in the battle for their country, establish justice, and so on. The writer successfully combines the contradictory features of heroes and criminals in their characters, emphasizing their ambiguity, which makes them believable, living people, and not ideologically well-established figures. It was found out that the most ideologized image in the work is the figure of Captain Ivan Principle, the favorite S. Postolovskyi’s hero, who has already met in the previous writer’s works. The surname of this character is fully matched with his inner qualities: he is honest, fair, takes the attention of women, and in his actions he is always guided by the law and believes that the means do not always justify the goal. The author tried to bring out a new image of a spy, a modern hero who could become a sample for the young generation. It was also revealed that in the images of other ministers of the Office, who participated in the organization of Operation «The God’s Wrath», – General Bulldog, Colonel Myron and Captain Nechypailo – the writer depicted the typical representatives of his time, capable of high aspirations and courageous deeds, but at the same time they are typical executors of any order, often criminal, when it coincides with their notions of justice and duty. Thus, S. Postolovskyi presented his own vision of Ukraine’s fate in the «hybrid war» with Russia and those people whom the result of this war directly depends on. Since he can’t foresee the future, the author leaves his protagonists a tragic fate, just like life itself.","PeriodicalId":338851,"journal":{"name":"PRECARPATHIAN BULLETIN OF THE SHEVCHENKO SCIENTIFIC SOCIETY Word","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121383245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article deals with the artistic phenomenon of role lyrics as a poetic text constructed in the form of a holistic speech statement and organized from a person who is distanced from the author and can not be identified taking into consideration biographical, socio-historical or gender status of the speech subject as well as the range of moral, ethical, ideological, aesthetic, existential values and representations submitted by him. A separate type of role lyrics includes poetic texts that are generally constructed in the form of the expression of one or more characters while the author's representation is minimized in them to some separate and fragmentary replicas which function as a specific frame element that formally combines submitted representational forms. On the contrary, it does not transfer them into the artistic plane concerning auto-psychological form of expression. This type of role-playing lyricism is constructed in the form of a monologue or a dialogue with two or more characters or a role dramatic scene where the author's voice acts as a remark linking the voices of poetic speech subjects. The article analyzes the problems of literary critics’ theoretical searches in their studies related to the lyrics subject organization specifics. It makes an attempt to characterize the spectrum of poetic speech subjects in role lyrics. An attempt is also made to typologize the role types of author's consciousness expression in T. Shevchenko’s lyrics. The varieties of the hero’s character actual role-type (i.e. personalized and personified) are analyzed as well. The hero’s actual role-type is defined as the type when degree of objectification confirms his categorical (at least, outwardly declared) non-identity with the author himself motivated by biographical, socio-professional, existential, etc. incompatibility. The article also deals with the problems related to the methods of composite and speech design of poetic role-text. It outlines conceptual and substantive points which reveal themselves at the level of ideological and thematic concepts of expression.

The creative work of modern Taiwanese writer Ho Dinsheng is considered for the first time in the Ukrainian literary studies. The analysis is focused on the peculiarities of the intertextual semantics of transculturation in the essay collection "The Ugly Chinaman and the Crisis of Chinese Culture". The transcultural perspective is embodied as the project, akin to the tendencies of "culture criticism". The accusatory tone, the lashing portrayal of iconic stamps, resulted from simplifying projection of traditional culture into mass discourse, is combined with multiple allusion, reminiscence and quotation techniques, thus the complicated experiment of rereading and deconstructing artistic and philosophical tradition of China in the global perspective is carried out. Within broad context of global literature, the experiment features the reassessment of genre peculiarities of philosophical essay, lecture essay, explicit cultural pragmatism, emotional positivism akin to late Romanticism and modern projects, mildly developing the poetics of postmodernism.
