The article is dedicated to the analysis of semantics of verbal nouns as a consequence of nominalization processes in language. The notion of nominalization leads to the reduction of traditional verbal semantics – verbal features, functions or elements related to implementation of process and points to development and flow of phenomena, facts and events localized in time and space. Nominalized unit acquires signs of static semantics, the main function of which is naming and fixing of certain phenomena, facts and events, as well as identification of these facts, phenomena and events without taking into account their possible development in time and space. The difference between the phenomena of substantivation and nominalization is established. Nominalized verbal nouns replace the predicate and take the position of the subject of the subordinate clause, acting as a means of secondary nomination, performing an anaphorical function. Verbal nouns in the sentence structure act as a means of condensation and are semantic equivalents of sentences. They form a specific stratum of vocabulary both in Ukrainian and English languages which is characterized, on the one hand, by a close connection with the original verbs and, as a consequence, the preservation of lexical and even grammatical semantics of original verbs – semantics of action, process or dynamic state, and, on the other hand, belongs to the lexical-grammatical class of nouns, which causes not only significant semantic modifications of the original semantics, but also the emergence of various semantic components and connotations. Both English and Ukrainian verbal nouns can transmit the meaning of state, process, the result of action, although their interpretation is modified by the context. The peculiarities of the transformation of sentences or similar units with predicative nature in English and Ukrainian languages are revealed.

The article deals with the problem of professional communicative competence development in foreign students of medical specialties while their learning of the Ukrainian language. Teaching effectiveness mostly depends on purposeful and consistent consideration of the prospects of professionally oriented communication development in the structure of educational content of the textbooks in the subject «Ukrainian as a Foreign Language». Review of the available textbooks and manuals in the Ukrainian Language for foreign students have proved that they don’t always meet modern methodical concepts and don’t fully satisfy educational demand in the comprehensive professionally oriented communicative material. Nation wide textbook in Ukrainian as a Foreign Language, compiled by the composite authors of one-field departments on the initiative of the Reference Department of Linguistics of Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University and filed for publication to the printing house «Medicine», is aimed to fill in the mentioned above gap in the scope of higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The fundamental conceptual framework, methodical approaches and material presentation in the novel textbook “Ukrainian as a Foreign Language” for the students of higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine have been analyzed in this article. It has been proved that the aim of the textbook is developing in foreign medical students of communicative, linguistic, sociocultural and professionally oriented competence thus ensuring the efficient use of the Ukrainian language in various situations of educational, social and professional communication. In the process of textbook compilation, the composite authors have defined communicative e pragmatic and competent approaches, which are based on the application of simulated situations, i.e. doctor-patient conversation, as the principle ones for the development of future doctors’ communicative skills. While elaborating the tasks in all types of speech activity (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) and distributing vocabulary and communicative material in conformity with the education specialty, the textbook authors have adhered to the principle of successive consistency thus assuring implementation of the principle of adjustment of the training content to the communicative needs of the medical students.

The article analyses interpretation of Joseph Roth prose in the context of intertextuality as a literary means. It is determined by the author’s strategy and studied the aesthetic issues that are fundamental to his work. Intertextuality proves a postmodern phenomenon of reinterpretation of classic and new texts, giving them new meanings and establishing parallels with modern literature, which is reflected in an adequate interpretation of their genre and stylistic forms, the interpretation of philosophical concepts, iconic fictional and aesthetic phenomena. So in fiction there is an additional dimension – intercultural component of the artistic world of the text. This theoretical approach is extremely productive, especially in the study of works of those authors; the arts are rooted in different spheres of human existence, formed on the border of their own cultures, languages, historical and national traditions. A good representative of “intercultural” narrative strategy is Joseph Roth. Thus, under conditions of intertextual interaction, the literary work becomes part of a broad intertextual space that covers not only literary, but also outside of literature forms of expression, and any text is in various “dialogical” relations with other texts that fill this space with different language codes that are represented in this space.

Topicality of the research is due to the scientific need to systematize the reasons of syntactic structures in the studies which influence the choice of the writer. On this basis, the need of clarifying the factors that influenced the choice of writers is updated. This means that researchers pay attention not only to structural, semantic and communicative features of complex sentences, but special attention is paid to the study of their writing potential. Of course, expressive features and functions of complex sentences that are directly involved in their formulation and design composition are shown in fiction. In the contextual environment we are able to explore more features of such syntactic structures. Among the constructions that were not the subject of this comprehensive analysis, there are complex sentences with subordinate goals and causes as a variety of sentences dismembered with a value of condition in the novels by Vasyl Shklyar "Black Raven", "Marusya". The object of our scientific research is complex sentences with subordinate goals and causes as a variety of segmented structure sentences with the value of condition in the novels by Vasyl Shklyar "Black Raven", "Marusya". The material of study includes novels by Vasyl Shklyar "Black Raven", in which "Marusya" 71 complex sentences of purpose, (33%), and 27 sentences of contractors reasons, (26%) of all complex sentences segmented structure with the value of condition. Were these singled out sentence structures perform a variety of functions: they help express the author’s attitude to the depicted events, reveal the inner world of the hero, a true atmosphere of sincere conversation. Complex sentences with subordinate causes in the analyzed Vasyl Shklyar novels are also represented, though not distinguished by the diversity of communication. They dominate in the stories of the characters, monologues and dialogues, landscape descriptions. These designs clearly differentiate artistic speech, eliminate ambiguity of complexity. Their functioning, semantic and stylistic role is regulated by individual author's style. Most sentences contain emotional and evaluative component, help to outline the spiritual ideals of the writer, his inner world and feelings. Certified units demonstrate the wealth of author’s artistic language. In this work we described only two types of sentences. Similar scientific research may be subject to further detailed studies and scientific interests.

The article considers innovative methods of teaching Ukrainian language to foreign-language students. These methods assume the use of both – special technical information tools, and developing personal-oriented technologies. Leading among them are computer-training technologies, which allow finding, collecting, processing, storing and transmitting the information using PC. Individualization of training and activation of students’ independent work takes place with the help of computer programs. This leads to the increased in volume tasks, which were completed in class. Multimedia training tools provide greater visibility; allow us to use the inclusion of gaming moments, thus stimulating cognitive activity and motivation. The use of computer tests allows us to quickly obtain an objective picture of the students’ material learning level and correct it in time. Innovations in higher education are associated with the development of modern forms and means, focused on the student personality; on the development of his abilities; on the achievement a positive result due to effective changes in the process of obtaining knowledge. Thanks to this, training gets activated and, as a result, - foreign students have a greater opportunity to acquire the necessary skills and abilities in mastering foreign language in short term; to increase motivation, and also to adapt to the new socio-cultural space successfully. Pupils should be faced with such problematic issues and tasks, solution of which requires thinking, research, and analysis. Students are no longer enough to be able only to read and translate professional texts, to perform various kinds of exercises, they should try to mobilize their knowledge, learn to identify and formulate a problem, find ways to solve it.

The article discusses intertextuality as a specific feature of fiction of the XIX-XXI centuries, is a peculiar communication code of the author with the reader, helps him to understand not only himself, but also the world in which he lives. Intertext appears in works of literature in the form of citations, allusions, reminiscences, parodies and imitations of other people's stylistic properties. Scientific intelligence analyzes the features of the structure of the Book of Psalms, which is one of the books of the Old Testament of the Bible, addresses the problem of authorship of a monument to world culture. The article analyzes separate poems from the cycle David of Psalms, which both artists have. Of course, each of the poets can trace the interpretation of the biblical text of an outstanding literary and cultural attraction. In the process of analysis, it was found that T. Shevchenko’s works are characterized by deep connections with ancient culture, Slavic mythology, and many European literatures. The “David Psalms” cycle of modern Ukrainian poetess Lina Kostenko is full of modern realities, acute social conflicts, which is a feature of the poetess’s creative manner. It is defined as the original features of the biblical text copying by each writer, and the presence of common features. It is established that in the works of both poets, despite the difference in time, metaphysical ideas take place, reflecting universal moral and ethical principles, opposing the concepts of “good – evil”, “truth – untruth”, “glory – hula”, are widely used Church Slavonic dictionary, there are elements of introspection. The works of Taras Shevchenko and Lina Kostenko are full of deep feelings about contemporary being, creating a unique image of a literary hero, which is a reflection of the author's position. Entering into the main text the motives of intertextuality allows you to create a unique idiostyle of both artists at different levels of literary reception.

The article deals with the uniqueness of the chronotopos in the novel by Max Kidruk “Where God is not present”. The research of leading scholars in various fields of science, such as M. Bakhtin, N. Kopistyanska, A. Temirbolat, O. Chicheryn, O. Ukhtomskyi and others, was dedicated to the problems of the time-spatial organization of the artistic text. The analyzed novel of the famous and popular modern Ukrainian writer has recently been published and has not yet been the subject of literary research. The main events in the work take place on the mountain summit in the array of Gasherbrum - Gasherbrum VI, where “Boeing 777” has crushed. Various time-space planes are harmoniously interwoven in the novel, due to the introduction of retrospections of different plans to the text. This contributes not only to the expansion of time-space coordinates, but also allows to use multidimensional analysis of the psychological portrait of the characters. While investigating the time and space of the novel, we rely on N. Kopistyanska's idea that space is not only a place and a background of action; it is the vector that influences the formation of the character, moral properties of the individual. During the analysis of the chronotopos of the novel “Where God is not present”, attention is focused on the character-building function of one's or another's space, which is one of the important means of psychologization. The psychological space of characters and their relationship with the outside is analyzed. The titles of the sections of the novel “Where God is not present” point to spatial boundaries, where chronological events will take place: “Airport”, “Airplane”, “Mountain”. The chronotopos of each section is expanded by the introduction of retrospectives. The writer uses various forms of time specification, such as: the exact definition of cyclic coordinates (indication of seasons, time of day, hours, minutes) and indication of the years in which events occur. In the novel, various countries, cities (Beijing, the Netherlands, Dubai, Sweden, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Moscow, etc.) are mentioned spontaneously.

In the novel, various countries, cities (Beijing, the Netherlands, Dubai, Sweden, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Moscow, etc.) are mentioned spontaneously.","PeriodicalId":338851,"journal":{"name":"PRECARPATHIAN BULLETIN OF THE SHEVCHENKO SCIENTIFIC SOCIETY Word","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133577379","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article is dedicated to the historic and theoretic literary analysis of the works of Ukrainian and foreign researchers, that studied the problem of transformation potential of the small prose genres in the synchronic and diachronic aspects. A review is made of the main approaches towards studying the problem of the kinship of a short story with epic and dramatic kin of literature. It has been found out: the majority of the researchers think that the typology of genres according to their kin has been sustained only in classicism with its demand for purity and canonicity of the literary forms, and in such literary streams like romanticism, realism, modernism, the genres emerge on the crossing of lyrics, epos and drama. Practically all of the researchers of the short story point out the concentration and laconicity of the genre of short story. This feature is usually connected to the manifestation of the dramatization in the epic genre as a whole. The substance of life in the end of XIX - at the beginning of the XX centuries is characterized by the acceleration of the civilized progress as well as by the intensifying of the time and space bonds, both in Ukraine and the World. These processes are determined by the change in the social and economic formations, accomplishments of the scientific and technical progress, development and achievements in the natural and technical branches of scientific knowledge, postulates of the philosophy of positivism, etc. Therefore, a concentration has been reflected in the peculiarities of the then spiritual, cultural and literary life. Under such circumstances the small prose, and short stories in particular, turned out to be the most operative and productive "content form". The success of Ukrainian small prose of the mentioned period to a great extend has been triggered both by the dialectic unity of the traditions and novelty of the national literary process, and the subjective conditions connected with the talent of the representatives of letters as well as the flexibility, experimental nature and an inclination to transformation by the leading genres of small prose. So in the article, a conclusion is made about the resonance between the novelty attempt of an individual artistic method of Vasyl Stefanyk and the transformation potential of short story as a genre.
