The impact of mid-block crossing on urban arterial operational characteristics using multimodal microscopic simulation approach 基于多模态微观模拟方法的中街交叉口对城市主干道运行特征的影响

The operational characteristics of major arterials depend on their geometric and traffic conditions. The Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) has developed pre-defined procedures to identify some of these operational characteristics, such as capacity and level of service (LOS). However, there are other important factors that affect major arterials operational characteristics which are not fully addressed, such as the effect of pedestrian movements. In this paper, a microscopic simulation approach is used to assess the effect of mid-block crossing on the operational characteristics of major arterials. The study corridor is a major arterial that connects the City of Nablus from the west side with other cities and villages. This corridor also experiences high pedestrian volume due to its unique location, which is adjacent to An-Najah National University new campus. Vehicular traffic and pedestrian counts were collected between 7:00 am - 5:00 pm. This research has compared the operational characteristics of the major arterial under three different scenarios. The first scenario ignores the pedestrian movements presenting the base condition. The second scenario is when pedestrians are crossing the street from designated crossing areas. The third scenario allows pedestrians to randomly cross the street. Simulation results have shown that the scenario when pedestrians are allowed to randomly cross the study corridor is the one that has resulted in lower operational speed, and much higher delay and number of stops. Moreover, it has the most negative environmental impact.

Optimal power flow with emission controlled using firefly algorithm 采用萤火虫算法控制最优功率流

This paper presents the use of a meta-heuristic nature-inspired algorithm, called firefly algorithm for the solution of the optimal power flow problem. The objective is to minimize the total fuel cost of generation and environmental pollution caused by fossil based thermal generating units and also maintain an acceptable system performance in terms of limits on generator real and reactive power outputs, bus voltages, shunt capacitors/reactors and power flow of transmission lines. In this work the standard IEEE 30-bus test system with six generating units has been used to test the effectiveness of the proposed method. Satisfactory results obtained from the proposed method were compared to those obtained by genetic algorithm (GA) and particle Swarm methods (PSO).

A particle swarm optimization for solving the one dimensional container loading problem 求解一维集装箱装载问题的粒子群算法

We address in this paper the one dimensional container loading problem (CLP), a NP-hard optimization problem of extreme economic relevance in industrial areas. The problem consists in loading items into containers, then stowing the most profitable containers in a set of compartments. The main objective is to minimize the number of used containers. We state a mathematical model as well as a modified metaheuristic namely the particle swarm optimization approach (PSO) with FFD initialization. Computational results carried out on a large test bed show the effectiveness of the denoted approach depending on the problem settings.

On CPN-based verification of hierarchical formalization of UML 2 Interaction Overview Diagrams 基于cpn的UML 2交互概览图层次形式化验证

Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a graphical modeling language based on diagrams is widely used both in industry and academia although its semantics is yet informal. In this work, we aim to give a formal semantics description of Interaction Overview Diagram (IOD) semantics. IOD as new diagram introduced by UML2 allows a hierarchical specification of system's behavior at more than one level. We establish a mapping of the hierarchical use of IODs and of timing diagrams into respectively hierarchical colored Petri nets (HCPNs) and timed colored Petri nets (TCPNs). The objective of this formal description is to assist designers in the use of abstraction as well as refinement while keeping verification possible. Finally, we compare our approach with others similar existing in the literature.

Benchmarking chains of hardware retail stores in Canada 加拿大五金零售连锁店的标杆

We analyzed the performance of the three main public chains of hardware retail stores in Canada. The study was based on the use of Data Envelopment Analysis. We performed internal and external benchmarking of the firms for the 2000-2010 periods. It occurs that the companies have been impacted by the 2005-2006 collapse of the United States housing bubble which in itself has led to the Canadian forest industry crisis in 2007 and the subprime mortgage crisis of 2008. Further, our analysis shed a light on the numerous attempts that have been made in the recent years to acquire the Canadian public chain of hardware retail stores.

They present an alliance between decision theory, graph theory and possibilistic theory, in order to represent decision problems and define their optimal strategy through evaluation algorithms. On the modeling of causal belief networks 论因果信念网络的建模

Causality is compactly and simply represented with graphical models. On these causal networks, we can compute the simultaneous effect of observing the natural behavior of the system and external actions forcing some variables to take specific values. This paper proposes an alternative causal graphical model offering more flexibility and reducing the storage complexity under an uncertain environment where the uncertainty is represented by belief assignments, the so-called causal belief network with conditional beliefs. Indeed, in this representation conditional distributions are defined for either one or more than one cause. To compute the global joint distribution on this network, we also propose a new method for the vacuous extension allowing a uniform transfer of beliefs.

A new software for power flow solution computing using LabVIEW 基于LabVIEW的潮流解计算软件

In this paper we present a new program for solving the power flow problem using the graphical programming environment of LabVIEW as a virtual instrument. This program is used for computing power flow using Newton-Raphson algorithm and DC power flow. Or this latter greatly simplifies the power flow by making a number of approximations. Hence the DC power flow reduces the power flow problem to a set of linear equations. The effectiveness of the method developed is identified through its application to a 6 buses test system. The calculation results show excellent performance of the proposed method, in regard to computation time and quality of results.

An optimal control approach is developed for Four-Wheel Active Steering Vehicles. First, parameterized vehicle model is built. Second, active steering model is implemented and coupled to the vehicle model. Considering tributaries to reconstitute an extreme event on a portion of the Medjerda river 考虑在梅杰达河的一部分支流上重建一个极端事件

The flooding problem was been imposed to the man since ever. Many natural disasters have led him to reflect on the power and frequency of floods. In the past, interest was mainly the knowledge of the maximum values of the water depth and flow. Currently, interest is turning more and more to the characteristics of hydrographs and their variation during flood propagation of river's tributary. Models of flood propagation are varied; there are a big number of algorithms from simple statistical receipt to the partial differential equations of Saint-Venant [1]. To reconstitute flood's hydrographs, the simplest models used until now are Muskingum and Regression. In Tunisia, the flood problem arise the only perennial river, Medjerda, in particularly the plain of Bou Salem. During the work of my memory Masters, we applied Muskingum and Regression models to reconstitute flood hydrographs of the main stations Medjerda River upstream Sidi Salem dam. We concluded that the model more efficient is regression [2]. We will try in this article to analyze the effect of introducing the tributaries in the reconstitution of flood hydrographs. The objective of this study is the reconstitution of flood's hydrographs of January 2003 of Bou Salem which is a subwatershed of Medjerda River. Two models were used: Muskingum and regression. Reconstitution times are 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours. To evaluate the quality of reconstitution models, three performance criteria were selected: standard deviation error `S', peak relative error `S1' and peak time difference `S2'. The reconstitution of Bou Salem' floods (downstream station) from Jendouba (upstream station) was sets in four scenarios: (1) ignoring the tributaries, (2) considering the tributary Tessa, (3) taking into account the tributary Mellegue and (4) considering both tributaries of Tessa and Mellegue. Following this application, we concluded that regression model reconstituted well the flood's hydrographs of January 2003 for all calculation times. Consideration of tributaries improves the results of reconstitution. The performed model obtained is the regression that takes into account two tributaries of Tessa and Mellegue at once, and for all calculation times. The model gave the best value of the performance criteria.
