In the project ARTIVISM ( ), funded by the European Research Council, we analyze a broad range of artistic tools, styles and means of expression, namely festive events and parades, cartoons and comics, and street art. In this article, we focus on carnivals as a festive form of resistance, wherein participants need to develop strategies of action to overcome attempts of control and repression by public authorities or Carnival foundations. In particular, we focus on the offi cial and independent carnivals in the Mediterranean cities of Viareggio, Nice and Marseille to disclose underlying dynamics and tensions characterizing these events.

The current contribution aims to disclose to the Italian readers some relevant aspects of a forthcoming volume entitled: Baudelaire et Wagner . In spite of an ideological purpose prevailing in the 18th Century – fraternity and correspondence between arts –, a secret rivalry between arts and artists themselves is assumed. This essay mainly focuses on the relationship between Baudelaire and Wagner in order to discuss, on the basis of the intertextuality and discourse analysis of Baudelaire’s Richard Wagner et Tannhauser a Paris , its traditional interpretation: under cover of irony, the panegyric hides in fact, a pamphlet .

My paper aims at reconstructing the intellectual dialogue between Paul Celan and Peter Szondi, moving from their common Jewish background. It will focus especially on Szondi’s essays on Celan’s poetry which raise a number of questions concerning the hermeneutic approach to texts and the possible knowledge of biographical and historical frameworks in the analysis of literary works.

These three recent publications focus on the study of German-speaking literature between the end of World War II in 1945 and today. In the first volume, Calzoni focuses on literary production immediately after 1945 until the building of the Berlin Wall; in the second volume his target is literary production between 1961 and today, with particular attention to its relation with mass media. Hermann and Horstkotte concentrate their reflections and analysis on the period after the Berlin Wall (1989) and the present days. The year 1989-1990 represents a significant hiatus in literary production and is considered the starting point for the development of a new form of literature that has to face multifaceted, globalised contemporary society.

The aim of this paper is to examine critically Peter Szondi’s literary hermeneutics from the perspective of his “huphainologic” concept, which stems from the Aristotle-inspired poetological character of this hermeneutics. In order to perform this task, I seek to answer the question whether Szondi’s text- and scriptocentrism is not a consequence of its neglect of the Jewish exegetical tradition. For the sake of giving an adequate analysis of problems raised by this question, I contrast the occidental, text-centered concept of Revelation with its oriental counterpart based on consonant script. As a next step, in this context, I give an outline of the reading- and interpretation-centred concept of Scripture characteristic of the period of Tannaim, touching upon the topic of middot (the methods or principles used by rabbinical hermeneutics), as well as exploring the dynamic nature and exegetical creativity of the reading- and interpretation-centred approach to Hebrew Revelation.

This introductory essay aims to shed light on the theoretical raison d’etre , the intersections within, and the main lines shared by the five essays that make up this section. The section is dedicated to transnational and blended learning spaces in telecollaborative, trans-institutional projects. This piece pivots on the increasingly important and pervasive theoretical notion of the “Spatial Turn” (Bachmann-Medick 2016, 211-243), which has become increasingly visible in, among other fields, pedagogy and cultural studies, and more specifically in the idea of boundary-crossing and hybridisation not only of physical but also of methodological spaces. This introductory essay shows how these five scholarly pieces contribute in different ways to enriching the interdisciplinary scholarly space at the intersection of intercultural awareness and technology- enhanced teaching and learning of foreign languages and cultures.
