Alternate : The purpose of this article is to analyze the practices of resistance and protests in the prisons of Córdoba in Argentina, and to reflect on the media representations of these practices. : Bioart is an artistic expression of the late 20th and early 21st century, characterized by the incorporation of biotechnologies and living elements as themes or media, in its works. Bioartistic creations have raised bioethical conflicts because their peculiar aesthetic proposal provokes a perceptual and emotional shock that destabilizes our sense of the world we inhabit. The purpose of this study is to integrate perspectives from aesthetics, bioethics, and anthro-pology in order to analyze the bioethical conflict that emerges in this field. This is done by characterizing the emotional tension provoked by a clash of values that takes shape and is perceived in the bio-work though a bibliograph-ical review of studies on bio-art based on a bioethical and historiographical perspective. To illustrate the analysis, we selected several works from the first decade of the 2000s recorded on the artists’ websites. The article concludes that the conflict that emerges in bio-art lies in the connection between perception and emotion. If we understand emotions as a process of valuing things in the world that represent a certain importance to us, we can describe the conflict of the perception of bio-artistic otherness as a tension between divergent values. Unlike other approaches that discuss the bioethical conflict of bio-art, this proposal is intended to situate and describe it with precision and nuance. Thus, the bioethical problematic of it is located at the perception-interpretation threshold, and the different components (evaluation, expectation, and reac-tion) of concrete and differentiated emotions are analyzed to cast light on the conflict generated by bio-art on the basis of the tension between the different values associated with the otherness contemplated.

Alternate abstract: The purpose of this article is to describe and analyze the reconversion experiences of four social organizations to sustain the social bond and collective care in popular neighborhoods of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA), Argentina, during the Covid-19 pandemic. : The withdrawal of collective processes and the strengthening of the individual sphere correspond to a phenomenon that, at territorial level, is evident in multi-family housing buildings where private and common property coexist. This dichotomous condition determines a constant tension among residents. The September 19, 2017 earthquake in Mexico City marked a turning point in the individualistic dynamics that prevailed within these spaces, leading to the articulation of a collective lawsuit that stressed the state response to care for those affected. In this context, this article proposes a review of the concept of collective action and an analysis of its impact on the modification of institutional structures during reconstruction in Mexico City since the 2017 earthquake. A first stage consisted in the review of hemerographic material and official documents issued between September 2017 and July 2018. Following this, between August 2018 and October 2019, the researcher held in-depth interviews with residents of the Multifamiliar Tlalpan and attended three informative assemblies, as a non-participant observer. The loss of housing constitutes a crisis scenario, but it also strengthens a common identity among those who reside in a given housing context. This identity has the potential to articulate processes of collective action that may stress conventional institutional responses, enabling counter-hegemonic approaches to the benefit of those affected. Based on the observation of a specific urban scalar unit, such as multifamily housing, the article provides a territorialized reading of the new forms of collective articulation that emerge in crisis scenarios; a reading that, based on empirical evidence, is intended to strengthen the theoretical discussion on collective action

Alternate abstract: The purpose of this article is to characterize the community care actions that have been part of the coping strategies adopted during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in the Independencia commune in Santiago, Chile. Despite the fact that the organized community mobilized resources and worked tirelessly to sustain life from the very beginning of the pandemic, the authorities have insisted on blaming the population for the spread of the virus, pointing to an alleged neglect of care. As part of a qualitative case study, intended to characterize community response to the pandemic, twelve semi-structured interviews were held with members of different social organizations in Independencia, along with a number of ethnographic visits. Alternate abstract: The purpose of this article is to characterize the community care actions that have been part of the coping strategies adopted during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in the Independencia commune in Santiago, Chile. : The purpose of this article is to present some of the considerations that arose following the development of an experience of caregiving for teams of professionals who support, investigate, and collect testimonies on human rights violations and the processing of Chile’s dictatorial past. The care experience was based on the psychodrama method, applied in workshop format, over three sessions of approximately two hours each, throughout the months when the interviews of the oral archive project “Resistir Recordando” (2019) were being designed and implemented. This process lasted a year. The project had an archaeological-anthropological approach, developed under the auspices of the Borgoño Memory Corporation, a collective dedicated to building a memorial site for the former secret detention, torture, and extermination center Cuartel Borgoño (1977-1989), located in Santiago, Chile. A qualitative analysis of the instruments used in the care workshop, especially letter writing, observation, and personal notes, is presented to explain the approaches, focus decisions, scopes, and projections. From a perspective that gathers the principles of Dussel’s ethics and multisite ethnography, and that understands the social actors as collaborators, the text discusses the notion of otherness implied in memory work. We conclude that, in general, memory work and research on human rights violations, focused on the testimonial-victim voice, deploy self-care actions that pathologize and individualize the problem. This article proposes that we should consider the figure of professionals and the field of memory as a working space susceptible of being cared for. This opens a new field of discussion on the practice of caring for professional teams, which implies considering other places of enunciation and listening, from the recognition of the density that acquires the treatment of “our catastrophe,” the otherness involved in memory work, and the unresolved nature of the violence it entails.

Alternate abstract: The purpose of this article is to highlight that the increase in caregiving tasks, as a result of the pandemic and the breakdown of the care network, have fallen most heavily on women. By recognizing the crisis of care, which has privileged an individualistic model over a social or community model, the covid-19 pandemic reveals the overburdening of one type of subject and the impossibilities of thinking about other forms of care. By presenting some of the results obtained via the Cuidar survey, conducted in Chile in May 2020, in a context of strict quarantine, closure of educational establishments and social distancing measures, we discuss the participation of women in care practices that are becoming increasingly fragile. If we consider that women are key actors in these articulations, the precariousness of their quality of life affects the very capacity of the network to sustain and care and, therefore, women’s capacity to care for themselves as well as for others. In other words, the pandemic reveals not only a set of practices that is disarticulated and reorganized, but also that, given its privatized organization and concentration in one type of individual, it becomes much more fragile in that it depends almost exclusively on a subject whose possibilities of rethinking or rearticulating itself are reduced or limited.
