The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the fundamental provisions of the modern theory of international economic relations, scientific works of scientists. In the research process, general scientific and special methods were used, in particular: dialectical, monographic and systemic analysis – to substantiate the essence of modern geo-economic development processes of the countries of the Arab world; analysis and synthesis – for studying the object and subject of research; PEST analysis – to monitor the positioning of the countries of the modern Arab world; statistical and comparative analysis - to compare economic indicators in time and space; graphic – for visualization of dynamic phenomena and processes; abstract and logical – during the formation of theoretical generalizations, assumptions, conclusions. Findings. The prerequisites for the involvement of the countries of the Arab world in modern geo-economic processes are considered and the systemic determinants of their economic development and progress are analysed. The positioning of the countries of the Arab world in the geo-economic space is defined and the factors restraining their economic growth are singled out. In particular, attention is focused on the corruption component of the national policy of the countries, which does not allow economic transformations to be carried out. The negative consequences of “resource regionalism” in the policy of the studied countries are substantiated. The features of state support for the social sphere and health care in the countries of the region are revealed. The positive role of startups in the economic improvement of the economies of the Arab world countries and their achievement of progress is argued. Originality. The methodological principles of conducting a comprehensive analysis of the countries of the Arab world in modern geo-economic processes are proposed. Systemic determinants of their economic development and progress through the prism of political, economic, social, cultural and technological factors are argued on the basis of PEST analysis. The strategic vectors of the positioning of the countries of the Arab world in modern geo-economic processes are substantiated. Practical value. The obtained research results can be used for further scientific developments regarding the geo-economic positioning of the countries of the Arab world and their participation in modern geopolitical processes. Key words: countries of the Arab world, global transformations, geo-economic positioning, geo-economic space, determinants of development and progress, economic imbalances, export-oriented strategies, resource regionalism.

This study investigates whether earnings quality affects to asymmetric cost behavior, i.e., sticky cost of listed firms of Jakarta Stock Exchange (JKSE). This study analyzes 1032 year-firms observations during 2012-2019 periods. This study investigates earnings quality on listed firms of JKSE during the period of IFRS adoption in 2012 and implementation of sustainability reporting voluntarily. This study finds that earnings quality influence to cost stickiness is supported. However, earnings quality negatively influences cost stickiness. The result of this study indicates that there is likely the effect of IFRS adoption in 2012 and implementation of sustainability reporting voluntarily since 2010 from listed firms on the JKSE on its earnings quality. This result is consistent with study of Banker, Basu, Byzalov, &Chen (2016). So higher earnings quality, lower cost stickiness. This study contributes theoretically to the literature on financial accounting, management accounting and cost management related to the topic of asymmetric cost behavior on earnings characteristics. This research also contributes practically to the ability of earnings quality in listed firms of the JKSE to reflect information on their financial performance related to the earnings quality by investors and financial analysts.

The main purpose of the study is to analyze the current state and level of development of the logistics sector in Azerbaijan. The research was based on research methods such as comparative analysis and logical generalization. The article reflects the ongoing development with the establishment of logistics centers and junctions in the "Strategic Roadmap for the development of logistics and trade in the Republic of Azerbaijan", which began with the signing of the Contract of the Century. As a result of the study, the reasons and indicators of Azerbaijan's transformation into a global logistics hub were noted. The limitations of the study are that it requires more practical information. The practical significance of the study is to emphasize that the establishment of logistics centers will make Azerbaijan a center that can meet the needs of international freight.

This paper examines the role of technological innovations on structural transformation on economies of Africa. To attain this objective, it uses a sample of 32 African countries. The estimation techniques are system GMM and two stage least Square. Results indicate that technological innovations, as measured by total patents applications, have a significant effect on per sector value added. This result supports the almost nonlinear relationship of structural transformation since this study shows that manufacturing is the dominant sector in the promotion of structural changes as far as the implementation of technological innovations is concerned. Also, our results highlight that with regards to the African context, manufacturing is the sector in which technological innovation has the greatest impact on per sector value added and by so doing, it promotes structural transformation than other sectors (services or agriculture sector). As policy implication, governments need to encourage technological infrastructure through private and public spending on research and development especially for agricultural development to foster structural transformation.
