The Effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning on Advanced Reading Comprehension Skill in Online Arabic Language Teaching 基于问题的学习在阿拉伯语在线教学中对高级阅读理解技能的培养效果

Reading proficiency is considered as one of the language skills that must be mastered by prospective Arabic educators or practitioners. Besides, in the era of industry 4.0, students not only require core competencies from the field of study they are studying but also have a lifelong character of a learner. The conditions found in the field, as well as in previous studies, showed that learning in higher education currently tends to be centred on lecturers rather than on the students. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the implementation of a student-centred learning method in the form of a problem-based learning method with seven-jumps (seven-steps) approach in increasing the reading proficiency in Arabic. The subjects of this research were 50 people of Muthala’ah Mukatsafah class, and the test and non-test were employed as instruments. The reading proficiency test prepared by the researcher was used to figure out the subjects’ reading ability. Meanwhile, the subjects’ characters or soft skills were measured through a non-test instrument in the form of a questionnaire. The design applied in this study was a group design (one group pretest-posttest design). The data analysis was performed through a significance test before and after treatment. The results show that there are differences in the subjects’ advanced reading proficiency level as well as an increase in empathy soft skill before and after the implementation of the learning method.

Al-‘Uyūb al-Ḥarakiyyah wa al-‘Uyūb al-Bayāniyyah ‘inda al-Jāḥiẓ

Al-Jahiz is an Arabic linguist discussing ancient and modern linguistic theories, but most of the current generation ((Arabic linguists) do not know much about him. This study aimed to examine the concept of Al-Jahiẓ on disabilities of kinetics (Al-harakiyah) and disclosure (Al-Bayaniyah) in using language. The method used was descriptive qualitative which would describe and analyze in depth the concept of Al-Jahiẓ in terms of kinetics and disclosure disabilities. The primary data sources were collected through documentation of Al-Jahiz books and others that discussed his findings. Based on the results, it was concluded that: According to Al-Jahiẓ, disabilities of kinetics (Al-harakiyah) include the presence of several movements made by the speaker during speaking or speech indicating turbulence, instability and composure, such as clearing throat or coughing. While the disabilities of disclosure (Al-Bayaniyah) include Al- ‘Ayyu Al-ḥaṣru, Al-Bik’u, Al-Faḥmu, As-Salāṭotu, Al-Hażru.

The Role of Arabic Education Department in Improving Students' Writing Skills During Covid-19 Pandemic 新冠肺炎大流行期间阿拉伯教育部门在提高学生写作技能方面的作用

Writing skills are definitely essential to be mastered by students. This study described the efforts of Arabic education department of Indonesia University of Education (IUOE) in improving students’ writing skill, specifically in writing journal articles. Descriptive qualitative method was used in this study. This study involved 25 postgraduate students. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study showed there are four stages that can be performed to improve students’ writing skill in writing journal article, namely 1) Identifying students’ various difficulties in writing scientific journal articles, 2) conducting trainings of scientific journal articles through zoom meeting application in which the materials are based on the problems faced by the postgraduate students, 3) evaluating scientific journal articles that have been written by the postgraduate students, and 4) knowing the students’ perceptions regarding scientific journal article training activities through distributing the questionnaires.

Increasing Arabic Vocabulary Mastery Through Gamification; is Kahoot! Effective? 通过游戏化提高对阿拉伯语词汇的掌握Kahoot !有效?

Vocabulary (mufradat) mastery is decisive in the success of foreign language learning. Mastering many vocabularies can improve students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skill. Various strategies have been applied to improve vocabulary mastery, but the results are not satisfactory. They were only able to achieve an average score of 42, far below the minimum criteria of mastery leaning, which is 75. It was because the students are less motivated to master it. Quantitative research with experimental design was carried out to test Kahoot! media, one of the game-based learning methods to improve students’ vocabulary learning outcomes in class X MAN 4 HST. The results showed that students' learning outcomes in the experimental class which used Kahoot! Gamification method is significantly higher than the control class, which used reading aloud and guessing the meaning method. The average learning outcomes in the experimental class were 28,269 points higher than that of the control class. The average value of the control class N-Gain is 25.95, which is categorized as ineffective. While the average N-Gain value of the experimental class is 74.31, categorized as quite effective category. The results indicated that Kahoot! implementation can increase the average score of students in learning mufradat to 85.

Iktisāb al-Lugah al-‘Arabiyyah min al-Bī`ah al-Iṣṭinā’iyyah bi Jāmi’ah Maulānā Mālik Ibrāhῑm Malang

Language environment has been used as an Arabic learning strategy. However, not every strategy is successful in improving Arabic language competence. This article aimed at understanding: (1) the phenomenon of the establishment of Arabic language environment in higher education, and (2) the contribution of Arabic language environment in improving language competence through the language acquisition process. So far, these aspects were neglected in previous studies. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study model. Data were collected through interviews, observation and documentation. They were analyzed in detail since the beginning of collection, description and reduction, and verification. The results showed that the establishment of language environment at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang was carried out by establishing student dormitories, native speakers and student activity forums such as Arabic camp, public lectures, debates, discussions, public speaking, learning outside the classroom and competition. The influence of the Arabic language environment on the language acquisition is indicated by the students' speaking ability after 6 months of learning Arabic, participation in Arabic competition, writing Arabic scientific papers, and using Arabic in learning meetings. In conclusion, it turns out that the establishment of an Arabic language environment can be carried out in universities and can improve Arabic language competence. This article provided suggestions for effective use of the Arabic language environment as a language skill learning strategy.

The Implications of Coronavirus Outbreak on the Vocabularies and Language Styles of Arabic-speaking Indonesians 冠状病毒疫情对印尼阿拉伯语词汇和语言风格的影响

This study examines the implications of the Corona pandemic in the vocabulary and style of non-native Arabic speakers in Indonesia. The aim of this study is to identify new vocabulary and phrases acquired by Indonesian teachers and students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that there were several vocabulary words, new phrases, and some specific terms used in teacher and student writing.

Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) Method to Improve Arabic Reading Comprehension 提高阿拉伯语阅读理解的口语阅读流畅性(ORF)方法

The purpose of this study was to describe the use of the Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) method and to show the effectiveness of its use in Arabic reading at Muhamamdiyah University Malang. The method used in this research was descriptive quantitative with the Arabic education department students as the objects. The instruments used for the data collection were questionnaire and observation sheet, while the data analysis used the percentage of student responses. This research was conducted on four meetings. Each meeting had different text with a range of 125 - 140 words and a different final evaluation. This method implements a bear-back manner of reading quickly and at a specified time. The results of this study indicated that the ORF method is very helpful for students to be able to read Arabic texts fluently and accurately. It is proven that 50% of students give positive response to the application of this method. This method can also help improve the ability to understand the contents of Arabic text which has been one of the problems in learning Arabic language skills. It was proven that at the end of the meeting 85% of students completed the material with perfect scores.

The instruments used for the data collection were questionnaire and observation sheet, while the data analysis used the percentage of student responses. This research was conducted on four meetings. Each meeting had different text with a range of 125 - 140 words and a different final evaluation. This method implements a bear-back manner of reading quickly and at a specified time. The results of this study indicated that the ORF method is very helpful for students to be able to read Arabic texts fluently and accurately. It is proven that 50% of students give positive response to the application of this method. This method can also help improve the ability to understand the contents of Arabic text which has been one of the problems in learning Arabic language skills. This study aimed at describing the PBA curriculum development in the period of 1975-2013, viewed from ‘continuous and changing’ perspective on its components and exploring its causes. This was qualitative research with a historical approach, so that the data analysis was done by descriptive qualitative analysis. The results were as follows: first, in terms of the authority in curriculum compilation before KBK, the Government was quite dominant, and departments had role as curriculum implementers, although in the following years they were authorized to develop their own curriculum. Second, there were differences in naming the components and compositions of the curriculum structure in courses. Third, the learning process that was originally a transfer of knowledge (before KBK), teacher centered (TCL), and content based, turned into a method of inquiry (KBK) and sstudent centered learning (SCL). The outcomes shifted into the involvement of the community as stakeholders. Fourth, Arabic learning objective shifted from language goals that are only passive to holistic. The learning process also shifted on the materials, approaches, methods, techniques and evaluation.

The purpose of this research was to know the enhancement of learning results  of Arabic grammar by using the Teams Games Tournament method in 10th grade at Home Schooling Sya'airullah Bekasi. The method used was the classroom action research with the study  the student of Home Schooling Sya’airullah Bekasi 10th grade which amounted to 40 students as the sample. The research was conducted at  Home Schooling of Sya’airullah Bekasi in March - April 2019. The classrom action research was conduct by using the Kemmis and Mc Taggart cycle model through four stages: planning, action, observation and reflection. The instruments used were learning results tests and observation sheets. Learning results tests were used to measure the success of students in understanding arabic grammar, while the observation sheet was used to measure teacher and student performance in learning. The result obtained by the students during the research was average 70.87 in the first cycle and 88.52 in the second one. Then, the enhancement from the first cycle to the second cycle was 17.65. Based on the results above, the researcher concluded that the Teams Games Tournament method can improve students' ability to understand the science arabic grammar and can improve the learning results of arabic grammar in 10th grade students at Home Schooling Sya'airullah Bekasi.

The aim of this study was to determine the process of learning speaking skills in this program and its efforts in developing speaking skills. In this study, the authors used descriptive qualitative research methods, with historical, methodological, and opinion approaches. The results showed that speaking skills in the Ma’had Aliy As'adiyah Sengkang-South Sulawesi Program were related to the use of curriculum, learning methods, instructional media, and teaching materials. Meanwhile, the program's efforts in developing speaking skills consist of three parts, namely 1. efforts in practicing Arabic language directly, 2. Efforts to carry out various activities in the use of Arabic, 3. Efforts in the form of solution, namely efforts that will be carried out next by Ma’had Aliy As'adiyah Sengkang, South Sulawesi to improve the previous efforts that have not been effective and successful.
