Abstract Many libraries are turning to rapidly-growing social media app TikTok to marketing their services, but joining can be intimidating and a lot of work. Nicholls Library has used the app to promote their services on campus, gaining recognition among students, but not without clear goals and expectations. In this column, the social media chair at Nicholls Library discusses strategies for getting started with TikTok.

their careers. For those in supervisory or administrative roles, it addresses how to approach the obstacles faced by those living with mental illness and strategies to move toward a more inclusive LIS field. And for all, the essays exemplify the importance of having conversations in libraries around mental health, moving us toward normalizing the concept of living with mental illness while finding effective approaches to support library employees with mental illness.

mends this administrator ask among other things “what will your parents say/think” without noting that this is not a low-stakes digital civics teaching moment for all of the students involved, and instead could be a crime (p. 146). I cannot recommend this volume. In my opinion, educators would be better served by reading practical education scholarship, which will provide examples along with an assessment of their implementation.

Abstract Online tutorials that provide flexible and up-to-date information on library resources and research concepts are a vital service in academic libraries. At the University of North Carolina Greensboro, librarians created a platform providing multiple options for creation and delivery of virtual and interactive tutorials. At this University, the tutorials are useful to train patrons on a variety of research concepts. When the COVID-19 pandemic began to impact courses, this already established workflow and set of library research modules was able to assist librarians with the increasing demand for asynchronous online information literacy instruction.

Abstract The COVID-10 pandemic has exposed a need for mental health resources. This essay will explore challenges faced by students under stress or being effected by change and various opportunities for libraries seeking to support students as they manage their mental health. Further, the essay will offer suggestions for libraries hoping to aid students facing psychological struggles even outside of the aftermath of a public health crisis in three ways: first, through the provision of information; second, through the provision of resources; and third, through in-depth staff training.

Abstract This article discusses outreach initiatives that took place during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020–2021 at the Texas A&M University Libraries’ Cushing Memorial Library and Archives, which houses special collections, rare books, and the University Archives. The State of Texas and the Texas A&M main campus reopened earlier than most. The article reflects on how the Cushing Library responded to the circumstances created by the pandemic, including the development of online programs and a blog, while closed to the public. It also examines the combination of online and in-person programming after reopening in August 2020, including a large LGBTQIA+ collaborative exhibition. The article discusses the pressure of remaining highly productive and efficient during unprecedented times.
