Assessment of vice-chancellors’ role performance in management of students’ welfare services in universities of North-East Zone, Nigeria 尼日利亚东北地区大学校长在学生福利服务管理中的角色绩效评估

This study was designed to assess the Vice-Chancellors’ Role Performance in Management of Students’ Welfare Services in Universities in North-East Zone, Nigeria. The study was conducted with two objectives which were to assess: The Vice-Chancellor’s role performance in management of students’ hostel accommodation services, the Vice-Chancellors’ role performance in management of security services in Universities in North-East Zone, Nigeria. `A descriptive survey research design was employed for the study. The population of the study comprises of all the fifteen Universities in North-East Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria. A multistage sampling technique was used for the study. Firstly, a purposeful sampling technique was used in the selected 6 universities out of the fifteen university for the study, similarly, a total of 75 staff were selected purposively both students’ affairs division and management staff, in the same vein, a total of 300 students comprises of hostel representatives and class representatives were selected which give a total of 420 respondents respectively. A structured questionnaire titled: ‘Opinion of Staff and Students’ in Management of Hostel Accommodation and Security Services ‘Questionnaire’ (SSMHASSQ). Questionnaire was developed by the researcher and validated by three experts in the Department of Educational Foundations and Curriculum Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The reliability coefficient of the validated instrument used for data collection for the study was 0.76 through Cronbach Alpha statistics. Mean and standard deviation were the statistical instrument used for answering the reach questions; while Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used test the hypotheses at .05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that Vice-Chancellor ensured that students’ hostel accommodation had facilities such as toilets and toiletries, bed space, good light facilities, Solar power systems are installed in the hostel premises for security, security personnel were stationed in the strategic areas to protect students and staff from the current trend of kidnapping, theft in the universities in the North-East zone, Nigeria. It was therefore concluded that the Vice-Chancellor paid little attention to students ' welfare services in universities in the Nort-East. Adequate hostel accommodation should be provided for the students in the universities in the North-east, more sanitary facilities should be provided to students’ hostel to improve their well-being; In terms of security issues, the Vice-Chancellors should ensure that the security unit is provided with security van well equipped with communication gadgets. Also, Vice-Chancellors should ensure that security personnel are trained to handle campus security threat in the universities in the North-East zone of Nigeria.

Moderating influence of government policy on relationship between entrepreneurship education and business start up of undergraduate business education students in North East Nigeria 政府政策对尼日利亚东北部商业教育本科学生创业教育与创业关系的调节作用

The study aimed at determining the Moderating Influence of Government Policy on Relationship Between Entrepreneurship Education and Business Start-Up of Undergraduate Business Education students in Nigeria. Survey was used for the study; the population of the study comprises 998 final year undergraduates’ business education students. Stratified proportionate sampling technique was used for the study. Instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire. Reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach Alpha to test the internal consistency of the instrument. The data was collected by the researcher with the help of research assistants. Data collected was analyzed using Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS, 25). The findings of the study revealed that Entrepreneurial mind set does not significantly influence business startup of undergraduate business education students and also Government policy does not significantly moderate the relationship between, entrepreneurial mind set on business startup. Based on this the study recommended among others that, Lecturers in the universities should ensure entrepreneurship education is directed toward inculcating, and instilling, entrepreneurial mind-set for business start-up of undergraduate business education students of federal universities in North-east, Nigeria.

Causes of attrition among lecturers in colleges of education in North East, Nigeria 尼日利亚东北部教育学院讲师流失的原因

The main purpose of the study was to assess the Causes of Attrition among Lecturers in Colleges of Education in North Eastern Nigeria. Specifically, the study sought to determine the Impact of Work Condition on Attrition among Teaching Staff in the study area. A research question in line with the stated objective guided the study. The study employed survey research design where data collected was analyzed using mean. Finding of the study reveals that work condition is a factor that causes attrition among lecturers in Colleges of Education. The study recommends that government should do everything humanly possible in ensuring that the work condition for lecturers in Colleges of education is conducive, just and supportive for active participation.

Teachers’ use of creativity in teaching visual art in senior secondary school in Ilorin West LGA, Kwara State Kwara州Ilorin West LGA高中教师在视觉艺术教学中使用创造力

The study is designed to determine the teachers’ use of creativity in teaching visual art in senior secondary schools in Ilorin West LGA, Kwara State. Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The population for the study comprised all secondary schools in Kwara state. The sample consisted of one hundred and twenty-six (126) subjects. Purposive sampling technique was used to select all the subjects from 32 senior secondary schools in Ilorin West LGA, Kwara state as sample size of the study. Two instruments on Teachers’ Creativity in Teaching Visual Art (TCTVA), one from students’ responses and the other for the teachers’ responses were developed by the researcher and used to collect the data. Each item of both questionnaires measured the same variable. Four Educational Technology experts with Fine Art background from University of Ilorin validated the instrument for face and content validity. Pearson Product Moment Correlation statistics was used to test reliability of the instruments. Reliability coefficients of 0.88 and 0.74 were obtained for teachers and students questionnaire respectively. Three research questions were raised and two research hypotheses were formulated and tested using t-test at 0.05 level of significant. The result revealed that the originality and adaptation in creativity were rarely used by visual art teachers. Teachers’ mean shows that they used fluency and motivation in creativity sometime. There was significant difference between male and female visual art teachers in the use of creativity. Also, there was significant difference between qualified and unqualified visual art teachers in the use of creativity in teaching visual art. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended among others that visual art teachers should try to improve on their creativity for effective teaching visual art.

Assessment of maintenance strategies adopted by teachers and technologists for maintenance of workshop equipment in technical colleges of Taraba State, Nigeria 评估尼日利亚塔拉巴州技术学院教师和技术人员为维修车间设备所采取的维修策略

The study was designed to assess the maintenance strategies adopted by the teachers for the maintenance of workshop equipment in Technical Colleges in Taraba state, Nigeria. A descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The study was carried out in all the 9 technical colleges in Taraba State. The study's population included the teachers and workshop technologists from Taraba State's nine technical colleges.35 teachers and 35 school workshop technologists were sampled for the study making total of 70 respondents. The instrument for data collection was Assessment of Maintenance Strategies Adopted by the Teachers and Technologists for the Maintenance of Workshop Equipment in Technical Colleges questionnaire. The questionnaire was validated and pilot tested. Cronbach Alpha method was used to test the reliability, and a 0.87 reliability coefficient was found. Two research questions and one hypothesis were raised to guide the study. The research questions were analysed using mean and standard deviation, while the hypothesis was tested using z-test statistics. The findings of the study revealed that most of the standard maintenance strategies were not adopted for maintenance of technical colleges workshop equipment in Taraba State. It was therefore recommended that the schools should be encouraged to adopt the appropriate maintenance strategies to safeguard and prolong the lives of the workshop equipment and its users.

This study aimed at assessing the acceptance of accounting, marketing and office technology management software applications for instructional delivery among business education lecturers in universities in North-eastern region of Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey design. The study used the constructs of the theory of planned behaviour. The population of the study comprises of 50 business education lecturers in the three universities that offer business education programme which are; Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Modibbo Adama University Yola and University of Maiduguri. The entire population was used for the study. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire. The instrument was validated by two experts from the department of vocational education, Modibbo Adama university, Yola. The reliability test of the instrument was conducted to determine its internal consistency after a pilot study conducted outside the area of the study. A reliability coefficient of 0.78 was obtained. The researcher together with one research assistant administered the instrument to the respondents manually. A total of 50 questionnaires were administered but only 43 were retrieved. The data collected were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and regression statistics. The finding of the study among others revealed that business education lecturers have accepted to use accounting, marketing and OTM software applications for instructions. The study therefore recommended among others that there is need proper utilization of these software applications among the lecturers for effective instructional delivery.

Prognosis of project-based instructional package on public secondary school students’ academic achievement in economics in Ebonyi State, Nigeria 尼日利亚Ebonyi州公立中学学生经济学学业成绩项目教学包的预测

The researcher investigated the prognosis of project-based instructional package on public secondary school students’ academic achievement in Economics in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Three (3) specific purposes, three (3) research questions and three (3) hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The study employed quasi-experimental research design and the population of the study was two thousand, nine hundred and one (2,901) senior secondary two (SS11) students in public secondary schools in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The instrument for data collection was Economics Achievement Test (EAT). Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for all research questions and analysis of co-variance (ANCOVA) was applied to test the null hypotheses at alpha level of 0.05. The findings of the study revealed among others that students’ academic achievement in Economics improved significantly when taught using project-based instructional package. The implication of the study is that findings of the study justify the urgent need for public secondary school teachers to effectively apply project-based instructional package for Economics classroom instruction in order to improve students’ academic achievement in Economics in both internal and external examinations. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher recommended among other things that Economics teachers in public secondary schools need to re-access their classroom instructional practices which make students passive listeners and emphasize those practices that engage students in teaching and learning processes. Useful suggestions for further studies were made.

Effect of client-centered counselling therapy in reducing drug addiction among youths in Azare Metropolis 以案主为中心的咨询治疗在减少阿扎雷大都会青少年吸毒成瘾中的效果

This study was carried out to determine the effectiveness of Client-centered counselling therapy in modifying drug addiction attitudes among youths in Azare Metropolis, Bauchi State. The objective of the study is to determine whether there is difference attitude of those exposed to treatment and those who were not. The research design adopted for this study was quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test control group design. The participants in the study comprised 50 drug addict youths) made up of 40 male and 10 women between the ages of 18-30, who were selected using purposive sampling technique in the study area. The instruments used for data collection are: (1) Drug Addiction Screening Scale (DASS), and Drug Attitude Scale (DAS). Hypotheses formulated tested, the significant difference of the pre and post-test attitudes of the respondents was determined. There were two groups one experimental and the other was control group. The analyses of data were done using independent t-test by pairing pre-test scores. The results show that was significant difference in the post-test scores on the reasons why youths were addicted to drugs? All the items mean score were above the decision mean. There was significant difference in the post-test scores on the effectiveness of client-centered therapy in modifying drug attitude among youths in the study area. There was significant difference in the mean of pre-test and post-test scores on the attitude of youths towards addiction related to client-centered therapy on experimental group only. From the findings reported in this study we conclude that, client-centered therapy is effective in reducing drug addiction attitude among youths in Azare Metropolis. It was recommended that, Government should provide community counselling unit in order to provide services to Youths within the community whose their mentality always is to use drugs in order to feel normal, get away with certain thoughts, or feeling, and to look smart, counsellors should make constant utilization of Client-centered counselling therapy in treatment of substance abuse, in the school and society, and counsellors should make use of therapy when modifying behaviour of youths on substances.

Integration and utilization of e-learning: an approach to curriculum implementation in schools amidst Covid-19 pandemic 整合和利用电子学习:2019冠状病毒病大流行期间学校课程实施的方法

The aim of this study is to see in to the need for integrating and utilizing the E-learning platforms as an alternative means of curriculum implementation at the classroom level amidst COVID-19 pandemic and to a likely situation of similar effects henceforth. In spite of the numerous challenges hindering the implementation of the curriculum in our schools, it was therefore found that, the outbreak of Corona Virus Disease in 2019 has posed a great setback to effective curriculum implementation at the school level since the containment of community transmissions of the pandemic is achieved by a total closure of educational institutions among others. It is undoubtedly true that the Covid-19 pandemic has negatively impacted on the country’s educational system hence the forceful banned on social gathering which is very common and unavoidable to our traditional system of education in Nigeria and the country is lagging behind in terms of its capacity to switch to E-learning. Schooling system was suspended for a period of time which is against the claim that learning is a continuous process and should not be interrupted. It is therefore concluded that in spite of its disadvantages and some challenges as barriers to effective integration and utilization, E-learning remains the only alternative option to curriculum implementation amidst this kind of pandemic, which may lead to school closure similar to that of Covid-19 era.

This study determined the sustainable leadership skills need of brick/block laying and concreting students for self-reliance in technical colleges of Kano State, Nigeria. Two research objectives, two research questions and one null hypothesis guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The study had a total population of 1,344 respondents with a sampled size of 302 respondents using stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used for gathering data for the study was a structured questionnaire. The instrument was validated by three experts. Cronbach Alpha statistical tool was used to determine the reliability coefficient of 0.88. A total of 302 copies of the instrument were administered to the respondents, however, 296 copies were returned filled. This brings the percentage return rate to 98%. Mean and standard deviation statistical tools were employed to analyze the research questions. While t-test statistical tool was used to test the null hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that Brick/Block Laying and Concreting (BBC) Trade students of the study area need sustainable leadership skills that will enable them to coordinate, supervise, budget, maintain good financial records, work together as team and implement policies in their prospective place of work, to enable them fit into the world of work effectively. It was therefore recommended that government should ensure that appropriate policies that will facilitate the training need of BBC students in the area of sustainable leadership skills that will enable them fit into the construction industry should be duly emphasized in the curriculum of Brick/Block Laying and Concreting Trade.
