Our civic and democratic participation mostly relies on the quality of the news we consume. In this study, news media literacy dimensions are explored. It looks at how intrinsic motivation, news media skepticism, and media locus of control relate to one's knowledge of news media. It adopted the measure of news media literacy, which defines who a news media literate is. Through a two-part questionnaire on a media knowledge test and self-reported news literacy dimensions sent to Grade 11 students of a Philippine private high school, results show that the students have a low news media literacy level. The absence of a news literacy course is considered a reason for this. Results also challenge the idea that higher news literacy levels result in higher levels of intrinsic motivation, news media skepticism, and media locus of control. Although the results indicate evidence of these factors, knowledge structure appears irrelevant in one's motivation to consume and engage in news media, levels of news media skepticism, and media locus of control. Recent news literacy studies have identified other factors, such as the need for cognition and social norms, as legitimate considerations when understanding news literacy dimensions. These findings lead to the importance of adding news literacy competencies, which are recommended for the high school curriculum. Further research on other dimensions, such as those identified earlier, is recommended as news literacy is a developing area of news media literacy study.

This study was conducted in a farmer’s field at Balantay, Dimasalang, Masbate, Philippines, to evaluate the performance of different eggplant varieties with different levels of vermicast fertilizers. The different varieties were arranged in the plot while the levels of vermicast applied were set in the sub-plot using a two-factorial design in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Growth parameters such as the number of days to flowering and plant height at maturity were evaluated. The fruit yield and other parameters like yield per treatment in kgs, number of marketable fruits, number of non-marketable fruits, yield per hectare basis, and the chemical analysis of the nutritional value of eggplant fruits were also gathered. Based on the result of the study, growth parameters, and yield performance, particularly on the number of days to flowering, plant height in cm at maturity period, yield per treatment in kilograms, number of marketable fruits, number of non-marketable fruits, and yield in tons were significantly affected by the varying levels of vermicast application. However, a non-significant result was observed between different varieties of eggplant. For nutritional analysis, it was found that the application of higher rates of vermicast (10 tons/ha) resulted in a higher calcium, magnesium, and sodium content. In light of these findings, applying vermicast at 10 tons/ha as a substitute for synthetic fertilizer in eggplant production is recommended for a higher fruit yield and better farm profit.

The study examined how participants transitioned from being in a traditional dating setting to an online dating setup when the pandemic struck. An interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) was employed to explore and provide meaning to the experiences of eight Filipinos who used online dating through social media to pursue romantic relationships. The study highlighted that the participants experienced both happiness and connection, which led them to become better people because of the online relationship. The participants adapted themselves to the use of technology to express their interest, feelings, and care for the other person by exerting efforts to know the other person, spending quality time with each other, and making sure that communication is always there to make sure the other person will feel assured, cared for, and loved. They have overcome challenges, but there were issues concerning a lack of trust and poor-quality relationships like those of traditional daters in the pre-pandemic period, for which specific approaches to couples therapy have been recommended.

Schools play a crucial role in education for sustainable development. The aims of this study are to determine the extent of the incorporation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the secondary science curriculum and the extent of knowledge and attitude of science teachers regarding SDGs. The research design was concurrent triangulation mixed method. Purposive sampling was used in the selection of the science curriculum while convenience sampling was used in determining the participants for the survey and focus group discussion. The locale of the study is at Cordillera Administrative Region, Philippines. Findings show that the clusters of the SDGs related competencies of the Junior High School science curriculum are 51.61% knowledge, 21.29% values, and 21.19% skills. The dimensions reveal 14 learning competencies for social, 25 environmental, and 23 economic. This means that students are taught the interconnection of social, ecological and economic issues as evident in the curriculum. Furthermore, the extent of knowledge of science teachers regarding SDGs is high (M = 3.10, SD = 0.15) while the attitude is very positive (M = 3.46, SD = 0.09). Pearson correlation indicates weak positive correlation between the two variables, r=.37 while regression test showed significant correlation between knowledge and attitude, r=.37, p=0.03. Therefore, due to the inclusive nature of the SDGs, they are a great tool for expanding the science curriculum by giving real-world scenarios and life skills. SDGs are also helpful teaching resources that offer depth and perspective to scientific lessons.

This study aims to explore the impact of the ethical challenges faced by guidance counselors in public schools in Nueva Vizcaya in performing their tasks of counseling and providing other related services to the students in an online learning environment brought about by the COVID- 19 pandemic, and how they addressed the same. By a thorough understanding of the experiences of these public-school guidance counselors, it is hoped that new solutions or strategies to deal more effectively with such challenges can be offered. Using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA), this study examines the lived experiences of four (4) public secondary school guidance counselors who cater to the counseling needs of fifty-two public high schools in Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. Results reveal that guidance counselors experience challenges, ethical and otherwise, in the delivery of their services to students. The most common ethical dilemmas pointed out by the participants are maintaining confidentiality of personal disclosures and student records, multiple relationships, awareness of a colleague's ethical transgression, and maintaining boundaries. Guidance counselors will always be part of the support group in the holistic formation of the learners, whether in the physical or virtual environment.

Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, utilizing technology in online platforms has been a primary method internationally for upholding the health care system during this world health crisis. Online tele-mental health (OTH) offers exciting new breaks for mental health practitioners. However, initiation of OTH has also come with a host of trials, particularly on ethical standards. The goal of this narrative review aims to highlight the raised ethical issues among studies applying the modality of OTH which is a timely resource for mental health professionals who have been forced to move into the practice of online consultations and sessions. Using the standard key points of the mental health practitioners’ codes of ethics, applying both the American Psychological Association (APA) and the code of ethics provided by the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) is used during the review. Results show that there are problems and uncertainties for mental health providers striving to fulfill the shift in technology. In this study, the five of the most critical ethical issues found in OTH encounters include issues of competency, issues in the interruptions of psychological services in using technology, issues in integrity, issues in privacy and confidentiality, and themes that are considered accessory issues in OTH. The recommendations provided adheres to lift ethical issues raised in the review.

This qualitative study used Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis to analyze single mothers' postpartum depression experiences. The study highlighted the problems participants faced as students and single mothers. Satellite campus students participated in the study. The researcher used purposive and snowball sampling to identify 15 teenage single mothers with one to three children. They weren't necessarily diagnosed or treated for PPD. Single mothers experience different postpartum depression symptoms. Insecurity, tearfulness, irritability, physical symptoms, self-blame, self-harm, unreasonableness, giving up, isolation, and suicidal ideations are symptoms experienced during postpartum depression. According to their stories, PPD symptoms could be a result of the abrupt changes in their life as new mothers. Emotion-focused coping, problem-focused coping, and religious coping were most commonly used by single mothers. Future research should investigate these coping methods. This study contributes a theoretical understanding of the postpartum depression experiences and coping mechanisms of single mothers.
