contemporary sport is becoming more and more commercialized, hence the players strive to win at all costs, and to achieve this goal, they consider all means to be allowed. in order to be constantly on top, competitors change their training methods, use various aids, and finally direct their interests towards doping. Doping is considered to be the use of substances and all means intended to artificially increase physical fitness during sports competitions, which may be harmful to the ethics of sport or cause mental and physical harm to athletes. The aim of the research is to assess the knowledge of the problem and attitudes of young people practicing sports games towards the dangers of doping. assessment of knowledge on the effects of the use of illicit means, and analysis of opinion on the use of doping and strengthening mechanisms for the adoption of pharmacological agents. research on the knowledge about the use of support measures and doping in sport was carried out among talented youth practicing team sports games in randomly selected clubs of Małopolska, silesia, Podkarpacie and Opole. continuation studies were conducted in 2018–2020, they covered 60 girls and 60 boys, aged 16 years. The research was carried out using a questionnaire, the questions of which concerned the following problems: knowledge of the essence of sports doping, the relationship between doping and the principle of fair play in sport, support used in physical recreation, reasons for the use of doping, moral and criminal liability in the use of doping. when analyzing the results of the research, it should be noted that the use of doping in sport is negatively perceived by the examined youth. however, it can be assumed that the knowledge about the support and the problem of doping in sport is insufficient. setting the main goal – sports success and the related financial rewards, as well as the willingness to be the best in the opinion of the respondents may narrow the boundaries, which may facilitate the decision to use support and doping. These observations seem to be very disturbing, as the analysis of research data concerns young people practicing sports at the stage of education and the utilitarian nature of physical activity.

the aim of the study was to assess the effect of cold water immersion on changes in blood lactate concentration during post-exercise recovery in swimmers subjected to2-minute exercise test (front crawl swimming movements) using a VASA Swim Ergometer, with the maximum arm speed movements, as during the freestyle technique. the study covered 11 professional swimmers of the MKP Szczecin club, tested twice with a two-week interval. Each participant performed an exercise test twice, once with a passive recovery period, and the second time with cold water immersion after exercise, as a method potentially supporting the post-exercise recovery process. Each time before the test, immediately after and at 3, 6 and 9 minutes after exercise, the concentration of lactate in the capillary blood was measured. Statistical analysis of the obtained results showed that cold water immersion applied immediately after exercise resulted in a faster reduction of lactate concentration. the conducted research confirms that cold water immersion used in post-exercise recovery may be an effective method of restoring optimal physical fitness as part of the training process.

the global covID-19 pandemic has resulted in restrictions in most countries. one of them was to replace traditional education in schools with online learning. Such a change could provoke a build-up of negative feelings due to insecurity and loneliness. in addition, reducing daily physical activity and closing sports venues can have a detrimental effect on health. the article presents the results of the study of the impact of distance learning on the daily physical activity and condition of physical education teachers in Poland, as well as the subjective perception of physical and mental health in this professional group. google forms were used to collect the data. the research tool was a questionnaire. the analysis showed that distance learning had a significant negative impact on the physical and mental health of the study group. the impact of distance learning on physical and mental health is gender independent. Teachers more often negatively assessed their physical and mental health compared to the studies in previous years. Daily physical activity of the subjects decreased, and most of them increased their body weight. Less than 3% of the surveyed teachers during the blockade felt happy and full of life.

The purpose of this research paper is to review the literature on dance and its impact on children and adolescents' physical health, physiology, psychology and quality of life, as well as its impact on their social behavior and social relationships. With this objective in mind, we carried out an extensive review of the existing literature in the following databases: MEDLINE, AMED, SCOPUS, ERIC, EMBASE and GOOGLE SCHOLAR. Based on this review, it appears that dancing may be a suitable activity that encourages and prompts people to adopt healthy behaviors. In particular, the literature shows that during dance activities performed by children and adolescents, there are significant benefits to a healthy development of the body, to the improvement of mental and emotional health, as well as to the improvement of their social behavior and social relations. In addition, according to the literature reviewed, even during the Covid-19 pandemic, dance seems to be an efficient means of inspiring active engagement in children and adolescents. A means which can be available beyond in-person teaching, whiles still offering all of the benefits of the subject matter at the same time. © 2022 Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu Szczecinskiego. Peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) varies with anthropometric variables like calendar age, body height, body weight, and body surface area in different regions. The present study aims at analyzing the relationship of PEFR with anthropometric variables to know a reference value in this region. We conducted the present study on healthy adult males aged eighteen to forty-five years engaged in works where they were un-exposed to pollutants in Patiala, India. Subgroups were made in each anthropometric variable category. PEFR recording was done using Mini Wright Peak Flow Meter. Results are expressed as mean PEFR ± standard deviation (mean ±S.D.), while the students’ t-test was used to determine the differences between the means. We observed a linear increase in PEFR with all anthropometric variables. The correlation of PEFR with anthropometric variables was determined. PEFR is positively correlated with body height and body surface area (r = +0.20) and negatively correlated with calendar age (r = – 0.24) and body weight (r = – 0.02). We conclude that PEFR correlates best with body height (r = +0.48), and the result is highly significant (p < 0.01).

Mobile health applications provide individuals with a mobile tool that can be tailored to meet various health needs and physical activity goals, which is particularly important during the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated social distancing protocols. The consequence that the pandemic has on the mental health of university students has prompted and increased the demand of physical activity interventions. The aim of this study was to determine the self-perceived effects of mobile health applications on physical activity participation among university students. Participants included students registered in one of the faculties at a university in Johannesburg. Data collection took place by means of an electronic questionnaire using Google Forms as a platform, completed by a sample of 192 students. The findings in the study reflected that majority of university students use health applications to increase physical activity levels or to track current activity levels. Participants also indicated that specific health applications were used to set goals, monitor progress and receive feedback. Aerobic activities proved to be the more popular type of physical activity in comparison to anaerobic activity. This study concluded that health applications can be used as a tool to facilitate and promote physical activity participation in the university student population. © 2022 The authors.
