The COVID-19 pandemic associated with health fear has severely affected Malaysia’s tourism industry. The domestic tourism segment is expected to have a speedier recovery than international tourism due to travel restrictions. Accordingly, the principles of Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) and the government's role were utilised in investigating the Millennial’s domestic travel intention in this study. This study is a preliminary investigation in nature. It involves responses from the first 60 participants of the fieldwork being carried out for the actual research. The gathered data were analysed using the structural equation modelling (SEM) technique with SmartPLS software. The findings showed that Millennial’s Perceived Self Efficacy and (through) Government Intervention have a significant relationship with their domestic travel intention post-pandemic. Practical implications were then provided to the stakeholders in reviving Malaysia’s tourism industry.

The topic of leadership comes with many elements of situational scenarios, one particular of interest is during times of natural crisis. Natural crisis affects businesses and people worldwide with varying effects. It is notable that leadership styles and other factors can lead a business either to success or failure based on their proactivity. To explore the area of leadership studies in times of natural crises, a systematic literature review was undertaken. The review of studies from past fifteen years revealed that there were a lot of studies on the topic of leadership. Out of those, only 34 articles published from 2005 to 2020 were found relevant to the topic under study. These were presented in the form of a systematic literature review of “Leadership in Times of Natural Crises”. The systematic literature review was done using PRISMA framework which is the most widely known method of conducting review. The main link between these articles, although each focusing on different areas of research, was the relationship between leadership styles and impact on organizational management during natural crises. The review of the 34 articles from Scopus database explored different leadership styles and theories with their impact on organizations. The resources grew substantially in relation to COVID-19 in 2020, which also highlights the importance of this topic as there were limited resources available in the last twenty years when exploring papers that studied the impact of leadership impact during SARS outbreak in 2003. The finding of this article highlights the gap in research on leadership studies, and particularly in relation to pandemics, or for a broader term, natural crises.

With the ongoing worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, nurses have become among the prominent frontliners working together to prevent its pervasiveness and manage the treatment for the infected. The high-pressuring working environment subsequently affects their satisfaction towards their job and eventually influences their decision to stay. Besides, coworker support has been associated with the enhancement of one’s work-life outcomes. This study is conducted to investigate the moderating role of coworker support in the relationship between job satisfaction and turnover intent among nurses. A sample of 200 nurses working at several health institutions around Labuan FT was involved in this quantitative study. Results from data collected were analysed using Smart-PLS. The findings show that among nurses, coworker support can help to mitigate the relationship between job satisfaction and intention to leave the profession. According to the study results, improved working conditions for nurses and a focus on their psychological well-being might assist in lowering the retention rate to cope with the lack of nursing professionals.

This study aimed to analyze the impact of a leader's humor style dimensions: affiliate humor style, self-enhancing humor styles, aggressive humor styles, and self-defeating humor style on creativity and work engagement. Data collected from 138 call centers from some of the Cell Phone Companies in Jakarta. The data collection technique used in this study is non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling method. The techniques used to analyze this research are instrumental tests such as validity, reliability, and hypothesis testing using Multiple Regressions with SPSS 25. The results of hypothesis testing in this investigation indicate that there is a positive effect of affiliate humor style on creativity and work engagement, a positive effect of self-enhancing humor style to creativity and a negative effect to work engagement, an adverse effect of aggressive humor style on creativity and work engagement, and a negative effect self-defeating humor style on creativity and work engagement. Managerial implications can be given so the leaders can use appropriate humor styles to increase employee's spirit in the workplace.

This study on supervisors’ rating of Office Technology and Management (OTM) graduate workers competencies in using MS Desktop publishing in North-West Nigerian polytechnics was necessitated by persistent complaints from employers of labour that OTM graduate workers do not perform as expected in the current era of technology. One research question guided the study, and two null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using T-test. Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The population of the study constituted 378 supervisors in state and federal polytechnics in North-West Nigeria. The population was used as the sample. A structured 5-point rating scale questionnaire containing 16 items were developed and validated by experts. Reliability of the instrument was established using split half method and Pearson Product Moment Co-efficient Correlation formula and obtained a reliability co-efficient value of 0.77. The data collected was analysed with mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions and determine homogeneity or otherwise of the respondents. Findings revealed that administrative supervisors in polytechnics in North-West Nigeria rated their Office Technology and Management (OTM) graduate workers as fairly possessing desktop publishing competencies. Gender and the ownership of the institutions have no influence on the respondents’ ratings. Based on the findings, it was concluded that OTM graduate workers in Polytechnics in North-West Nigeria, do not possess the relevant desktop publishing competencies. It was recommended that The OTM graduate workers should engage in in-service training programmes to improve their competencies in desktop publishing. The administrative supervisors should recommend approval of in-service training for their OTM graduate workers to enhance their computer application competencies.

Recent years, Malaysia had experienced natural disasters such as landslides and flood. Lack of emergency management when dealing with natural disaster will exacerbate the problem and lead to financial, structural and even human losses. This study intends to examine the impact of coping strategies by local institutions on public awareness and preparedness towards natural disaster management. This research involved an exploratory phase and a detailed reflective phase which covered the Klang Valley. In this study, about 1500 copies of self-administered questionnaires were distributed to the respondents. Questionnaires were collected once the respondents completed the survey. During the reflective phase, in-depth interviews were conducted to measure the level of awareness and preparedness towards natural disaster management of communities. The local residents and residence association representatives were the targeted respondents for the in-depth interviews. The findings of this study are the coping strategies used by local authorities are unsustainable and had not constructed permanent solution in overcoming the growing negative effects of hazards. This research will help promote a safe and secure urban society in Malaysia through a better understanding of the proactive disaster management activities and the significant role of local institutions.
