Du sovietinio kanono autoriai posovietinėje Lietuvos mokykloje: Petras Cvirka ir Salomėja Nėris 后苏联时期立陶宛学派的两位苏联经典作家:佩特拉斯-契维尔卡和萨洛梅亚-涅里斯

The article examines the place of two Lithuanian writers, Salomėja Nėris (1909–1947) and Petras Cvirka (1904–1945), in the high school canon of Lithuanian literature in the post-Soviet period. First, the canonisation of these writers in the Soviet Lithuanian school system is analysed, or more precisely, in school curricula and textbooks from that time. Afterwards, we examine the revision of their canonical position after the restoration of Lithuania’s independence (1990). The research applies the socio-cultural methodological approach of canon research. A large sample of sources is used: school curricula, textbooks, readers, press publications, and other contextual materials. The study has revealed the different evaluation of Nėris and Cvirka in post-Soviet schools, which is largely due to differences in writers’ biographies. Since Cvirka consistently held and expressed left-wing and later pro-Soviet views in his work throughout his life, his oeuvre gradually disappeared from the upper school curriculum as the de-sovietisation of Lithuanian culture took place in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Nėris, on the contrary, has retained her central position in the school canon in the post-Soviet period. When her last collection of poems was first published in the late 20th century, in the order Nėris’ herself had wanted, it became possible to reposition certain aspects of her life and work.

The Margins versus the Centre of the National Literary Canon: The Reception of ‘The Legend of Master Manole’ in Romanian Education 国家文学典籍的边缘与中心:罗马尼亚教育界对《马诺尔大师传奇》的接受情况

The main purpose of the article is to outline a panorama of the reception of ‘The Legend of Master Manole’ in Romanian education, from the beginning of its introduction to the Romanian national literary canon until the post-communist era. The paper explores how the discourse created around this text in the 19th century and perpetuated by interwar critics (e.g. George Călinescu, Mircea Eliade), and the ideology of protochronism during Ceaușescu’s regime, is preserved in post-communist textbooks. Although there have been some attempts at the feminist decanonisation of the ballad since 1989, they did not influence the main narrative presented in school manuals. The didactic literature still emphasises the male perspective of Manole, and his sacrifice for the act of creation, ignoring the perspective of Ana, the female character in the ballad, and her sacrifice. Starting from the premise that the canon is a certain set of beliefs which can be constantly engaged in polemics that should be continuously shaped and deconstructed, the article also proposes some new literary contexts in which ‘The Legend of Master Manole’ could appear in school textbooks.

The article examines the Women’s Literary Evenings organized by the female members of the organization Ateitis and the magazine Naujoji vaidilutė in 1930, 1935 and 1938, using the sources of public discourse, i.e., reviews of those evenings published in daily newspapers and cultural press. The article takes into account the study carried out by other researchers of that time and the controversies surrounding women’s participation in culture during the 1930s. I analyze the process using a sociological approach to literature and methodological tools from Pierre Bourdieu’s theory on the field of cultural production, which treats the group of women as a limited and non-independent group of participants in the literary field. The article explores the transformations that have taken place in Women’s Literary Evenings over time: the development of those events, the changes in the concept, the reactions of participants and organizers to criticism, and its consequences. It also discusses the changes of the concept of women as writers and the possibilities of their initiation as writers during the period in question (eight years).
