The influence on the radiation characteristics of a single radiating slot has been researched on the basis of the solution of the resonator excitation problem by a longitudinal slot and loaded radiating slots. Calculations of the resonance linear waveguide-slot array with a required amplitude-phase distribution (APD), with regard to the internal and external interactions between the radiating slots, were carried out.

The conditions of instability of plasma polaritons in infinite structures, which were derived by a periodic recurrence of two alternating semiconductor layers, was considered. It was assumed that carrier drift takes place. The conditions for the appearance of the instability and its increments of growth were derived.

A "high-/spl epsiv/ dielectric-air slot" layered sandwich composite is used for fast tunable low loss phase shifters. This composite effective dielectric constant /spl epsiv//sub ef/ is controlled by a modern fast actuator that changes the width of the air slot. Using the highest quality microwave dielectrics, it is possible to realize a low loss phase shifter in the microwave and mm-wave range.

A contact scanning near-field optical lithography method has been developed to enable fabrication of different nanoelements; (metal, dielectric, etched in surface or its combinations) on the various surfaces (metal, dielectric, light- and heavy doped semiconductors). The method involves interaction of heated probe of scanning near-field optical microscope with two-layer coating, followed by pattern transfer onto sample surface. The software for creation of different nanoelements; is developed. The nanoelements; with characteristic dimensions of about 50 nm are fabricated.

Microwave techniques for tyre treatment possesses a number of advantages: reduced treatment time, reduced temperature conditions, high dynamics of temperature control. The microwave effect is more efficient, as against HF-heating (wavelengths 1 - 100 m). The microwave treatment has a high thermal action process speed. It is much higher than HF heating due to the use of electromagnetic field energy. Results of the research show that a power installation for tyre pyrolysis should provide an energy density not less than 30-50 W/cm/sup 2/. In order to keep the efficiency maximal, it is necessary to remove dross from the rubber surface.

A low noise amplifier (LNA) and mixer for 5.15-5.825 GHz wireless local area network (LAN) applications were designed and fabricated in 0.18 /spl mu/m CMOS technology. The newly proposed topologies are described. Simulation results for the LNA are: noise figure (NF) of 1.72 dB, power gain of 18.6 dB, and input 1-dB compression point (P/sub -1dB/) of -15.6 dBm. Simulation results for the mixer are: power conversion gain of 7.8 dB, input 3/sup rd/-order intercept point (IP3) of 6.6 dBm, input P/sub -1dB/ of -3.5 dBm, and single side-band NF of 7.1 dB.
