The characteristics of a pin-attenuator on a slotted-waveguide line, operating in the upper part of the cm-band, are presented. In the band of more than 3 GHz, an attenuator with two 2A5135 diodes provides an attenuation adjustment of up to 45 dB when the VSWR is no more than 2.2. While the attenuation adjustment is within 0-30 dB, the phase change is no more than 26/spl deg/.

Conditions for occurrences of a diffraction radiation (DR) exclusively into the dielectric of metal-dielectric grating (we have named this phenomenon an anomalous DR or ADR) are shown and analyzed. Contrary to the Cerenkov radiation, an ADR may occur at ultra low electron velocities (/spl beta//spl Lt/1//spl radic//spl epsi/). Electromagnetic field, energy density and other characteristics of the ADR are found as the exact solution of the strict mathematical task. A number of ADR characteristics have been calculated. The use of the ADR phenomenon is suggested for the miniaturization of diffraction electronic devices, e.g. in the design of semiconductor oscillators.

A computer-aided experimental stand, allowing the reception of the field distribution pattern, with large resolution, in open resonant structures and in free space, for the investigation of the structure of field distributions in the near-field zone of antennas is developed. In addition, by using the stand, it is possible to carry out research into the spectral and power performance of resonant systems.

We designed algorithms for fast process retrieval at the input of integrated circuits, based on Tikhonov's theory of ill-posed problems. This is necessary when the input signal change time is shorter than the integration time of the capacitance integrator.

The structure and features of the adaptive testing and data processing software suite (ATDP suite) are presented. It is applied for the dynamic characteristics restoration, from experimental time series, of nonlinear and unstable electronic systems. The basic methods realized in the ATDP suite are demonstrated.

This paper discusses the basic experimental laws of nonthermal millimeter wave interaction with various biological objects. These mm-waves are greatly absorbed by water and aqueous media. Microwave radiation is vastly absorbed by free molecules of water. It can change the properties of water both in the outer and inner medium in cells. Under the influence of mm-waves in liquid, convection takes place. Many biochemical processes including membrane processes are sensitive to the medium stirring media. The difference in the absorption capacity of bound and unbound water molecules stimulates non-additivity of microwave radiation absorption by aqueous solutions. This became the basis of the new trends in study of intermolecular interaction in solutes and solvents.

The difficulty of creation of a broadband thin absorptive coating consists in the simultaneous fulfillment of two conditions in a broad frequency band: minor reflection of a wave dropping from free space on the leading edge of the coating; and strong wave absorption inside the coating layer. The problems of synthesis of thin coatings are analysed mathematically. The results indicate that the physically solid distributions of inductivity in the depth of the coating ensure low values of reflection coefficient in a broad frequency band.
