Current publications devoted to noise-proof coding, declare that byte-type error detection and correction are particularly effective. However, independent errors up to t-multiplicity may appear in transmitted code-words. Taking account the above, it is necessary to develop codes, to enable the correction of the above error types with fine veracity of the information transmitted, possessing simple decoding algorithms, and not requiring delay of data exchange. This paper suggests codes, which are able to decode data blocks with q/sub 5/<10/sup -6/ error probability per one symbol at q/sub 0/=0.05 error probability per one symbol in the received word. These codes are able to correct byte errors of several bytes length. It is evident that such codes possess relatively lower transmission rate than BChH codes.

Cross-polarization characteristics for both a one-mode open-ended circular waveguide and a multimode one with a TM/sub 11/ mode excitation have been calculated on the basis of the rigorous Wainstein theory. The optimal waveguide diameter ensuring the minimal level of cross-polarization has been determined.

Miniature wideband antennas are used in phased array systems for several civilian and military applications. This work presents the results provided by several slotline miniature devices that can be manufactured in simple workshops. The feeders of such devices were coaxial cables with an impedance matching dummy cable extension. It may be shown that these structures are yet not optimized for the upper frequency bands, but still they offer promising performance.

Recent changes in the electromagnetic environment are bound up with the introduction of high-power sources of electromagnetic radiation and this has led to transmitted data distortion Consequently the problem of creating antijamming signals for communication systems has become very urgent. Considered in this paper are fractal spread-spectrum signals (FSS), and their interference immunity against different disturbing signals is calculated.

This paper presents the results of developing antenna systems (AE) for a prospective aircraft onboard state identification transponder (SIT). The AE of an onboard SIT channel consists of a number of antennas. The whole of the AE patterns covers virtually all of the space around the aircraft. The need to improve individual antennas, as well as their onboard set as a whole is determined by the following. Large sizes of antennas and their protective enclosures prominent above the aircraft body do not improve aerodynamic and electromagnetic qualities of the aircraft. The available operating band provides only for the domestic SIT channels, while auxiliary antennas are required for the international SIT. The development of an AE that is free from the drawbacks listed above and which provides both domestic and foreign SIT operation is described in this paper.

A snap of microwave plasmatron operation stability within the pressure range in medium vacuum was developed and tested on the basis of an optical diagnostics technique. The essence of the technique is simultaneous synchronous recording of the signal from the vacuum-gauge analog output and the signal from the photoelectric multiplying tube. Recording is carried out during plasmatron pumpout from the moment of gas cut-off to the moment of discharge starvation. We compared the data obtained during investigation of microwave discharge stability in different modes of plasma generation with the results of the snap of discharge glow properties. Such analysis proves the reliability and high informativity of the developed technique.
